"That can't be human technology!" sputtered Burnham. "That's one of those Steward things, isn't it?"
Secretary of State for Defense Bob Ainsworth too stammered. "We need to talk to Washington. They have direct contact with these things."
An aid interrupted them. "We are already getting a hail from a secure location in the United States."
"Let them through."
Donald Rumsfeld and Humphrey Jansen appeared onscreen. Behind them, Burnham could see Petraeus.
"So it appears that you have been attacked by someone using our weapons," spat Jansen.
"But he's one of your nationals!" Burnham cursed as he pointed at Rumsfeld.
"We already have frozen his assets and raided his home in Chicago and his father's home in Mount Sterling, Illinois," Rumsfeld replied coldly.
Jansen remarked coldly, "we are moving in our satellites to obliterate the island."
"Don't!" blurted out Burnham. "There are innocent people! Certainly there must be a way. I am afraid that we cannot do much on the basis the majority of our supers were killed by Cabrakan's forces."
Rumsfeld turned to Jansen. "Do not be so hasty. We have teams that can take care of them."
And that was when a certain Allison Campbell, now in Vienna, received a particularly important notification from the Pentagon.
