Remember, this is on Earth-44.
There was no Department of Metahuman Affairs. Waller heads Task Force X, and answers to the Department of Homeland Security.

March Madness-related post coming this week. So is a post on Earth-6; the rough draft is written, but I want to go over it and clean it up before posting.

Here's a challenge: look at the bracket, specifically at the fictional schools...match them to their conferences, to the comics they (or their cities) appeared in, or to the TV shows they appeared in.
I'll post the NCAA conferences at a future date, but a few things to keep in mind: the Big XII no longer exists as of 2016-17 (its better schools were poached by the Power conferences, the remnants merged into the American Athletic Conference); Metropolis U. helped form an eastern-based conference named the Eastern XV (XVI in football -- name the school that's football only); some schools you would strongly associate with a certain conference do not play in that conference in this universe.

Also, several OTL Division II schools moved up in this universe, and there's more than one Canadian school in D-I...

Thanks, lordroel . I'd probably get a better response listing musicians, or GBS network TV schedules, or video game consoles and games, or something (VR and AR are the standard, by the way, although there's still a market for games on your mobile device and on your 8K flatscreen).

Wait, do they already have 8k, as far as I know here on our Earth we have only 4K. Yeah, they have 8k. It's the current standard. The next thing isn't 12K or 16K, but holographic TV. The first real tests for holographic communication were in places like S.T.A.R. Labs, LexCorp in the US, and with similar companies in Europe and China. The first real world application will be in the military. I haven't thought that much about how technology would have advanced in this world nor how it affects the lives of everyday people (and federal agents). Please indulge me as I ramble on a bit. The TV networks still exist -- they survived earlier attempts by internet streaming-only companies like AOL, OnStream and WorldLink to replace them in the '00s -- and found a way to build a business model that incorporates OTA (over-the-air), streaming and cable. Netflix, Hulu, AmazonPrime, Pluto, et al exist in this universe and compete as content providers with the likes of GBS, Disney, Fox, NBC/Turner, ABC, HBO, etc. What we know as cable companies in OTL -- Charter Spectrum, Comcast, Cox, et al -- compete directly with YouTube Video, Apple, Hulu, Roku, DirecTV as channel and content curators. Since everyone has at least 5G unlimited broadband, and all the channels/curators are available to everyone, it's much more consumer-friendly than OTL. Whether you choose Comcast Xfinity, Verizon Broadband or Hulu, you can take it wherever you go as long as you stay in your country of origin. Of course, the Earth internet extends only to the orbital satellites, hotels, resorts, etc. The moon and L5 colonies have more limited connections to Earth, and their own local networks (the Earth internet is duplicated for now). The asteroid belt and Martian colonies and facilities, as well as Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Venus stations, have their own networks, and depending on their distance from Earth are a few months to a year behind in regards to movies, video, music, etc from Earth. News of course gets there much, much faster.

But the DCU-only corporations you see in the comics, TV or the movies aren't as dominant as you might think. Again, I admit that's not something I've given a lot of thought to.

Boone to be executed today
Serial killer murdered 22, inspired copycat killer
By Christopher Silver Washington Bureau
The scheduled execution of serial killer Kyle Thomas Boone will proceed this morning at 9 a.m. Eastern time at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia.
Boone, convicted of the murders of 22 women, had appealed for a stay of execution three weeks ago to Virginia Governor Charles Norin. Boone promised to reveal where his victims were buried if Naval Criminal Investigative Service agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs -- the man who arrested Boone -- would agree to talk to him. Norin granted a temporary stay and used political connections to compel Gibbs to visit Boone at Greensville Correctional Center. Gibbs did so briefly on May 27, two days before he was assassinated by terrorist Ari Haswari.
Without Boone's knowledge, other NCIS agents took up the investigation of the buried victims, soon uncovering four additional victims killed by a copycat. That investigation led to the arrest of Boone's attorney, Adam O'Neill, who confessed to the four murders and the attempted murder of NCIS agent Paula Cassidy. O'Neill was arrested by NCIS and extradited to the Fairfax County Detention Center in Fairfax, where he is currently being held without bond.
Boone was born October 4, 1965 in...

On the next 30 for 30:
(Shot of Anthony DiNozzo's senior photo from his high school yearbook)
Joe Deaton, head coach, Remington Military Academy, Trenton, Rhode Island: He was kicked out of six boarding schools, his mother was deceased, his father absent. He was looking for purpose.
(Video of DiNozzo throwing a touchdown pass during a football game and throwing a no-look pass to a teammate during a basketball game, both during his senior year at Remington)
Earle Bruce, former head football coach, The Ohio State University: We had a scholarship, I promised him he would have an opportunity. What he did with it was up to him.
(Video of DiNozzo running for a touchdown against arch-rival Michigan)
Kirk Herbstreit, backup quarterback for Ohio State when DiNozzo played, and later its starting QB, currently a college football analyst for ESPN: If he hadn't broken his leg in the third quarter, he would've starred in the NFL. But he wouldn't have had his success in basketball. And his career in law enforcement.
(Video of DiNozzo pulling up for a short jumper in the 1989 NCAA Final Four semifinal against UCLA)
Randy Ayers, former head men's basketball coach, Ohio State: Tony made us go. Jim (Jackson) was our star, but Tony was our heart. And he was an even better person off the court.
(Baltimore Sun online article headlined 'Buckeye leaves arena, saves life hours before the Final Four)
Jason King, detective, Baltimore Police Department: He ran into the building, not thinking about himself at all. He pulled me out. When I saw the news years later, it tore me up...(King wipes a tear away) I owe the man a debt I can never repay.
(Shots of DiNozzo's portraits as a rookie uniformed officer in Metropolis; a uniformed officer in Peoria, Illinois; and as a detective and a uniformed officer in both Philadelphia and Baltimore)
Maggie Sawyer, Captain, Metropolis Police Department: It took...time...to break down the cocky-ass persona and get to his heart. I knew he could be a great cop, do great anywhere in law enforcement...he didn't disappoint me.
(Shot of DiNozzo with his last supervisor, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and his teammates Caitlin Todd, Timothy McGee, Abigail Sciuto and Donald Mallard at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service main headquarters at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.)
Paula Cassidy, federal agent, NCIS: Tony, like the others, was a great agent. We lost him far too soon....I miss him every single day.
What if I told you...about an athlete who left it all behind on the field to put his life on the line every single day for people like you and me?
ESPN presents 30 for 30: DiNozzo. Presented by Levi's. Tuesday at 8 p.m.
