Lucas actually took inspiration from Nazi Germany. And that can be palpably seen in the Imperial governance, aesthetic, and other aspects of its totalitarian society and culture.

To share yet more lore-explanatory content about the franchise, here's one from Star Wars Theory that expounds all seven forms of lightsaber combat in one go. I'd post the more detailed and elaborate videos by Jensaarai1, but each form has one video--meaning that there'd be over seven of them to post in the thread at once.
ALL 7 LIGHTSABER FIGHTING STYLES EXPLAINED (IN-DEPTH) - Star Wars Explained

At least in the Legends continuity (and I think in Canon now as well), there were the classical seven that this video expounded as well as a few others ( i.e. Jar'Kai). If you want a more thorough and in-depth description and analysis of each form, then I recommend looking at Jensaarai1's series that's catered to that very purpose.

Only Seven, I would think very Jedi would have his or here own lightsaber technique. Well, as said before, there are more forms outside of the Mainstream Seven (again mentioning Jar'Kai dual-blade swordplay as an example). And both Jedi and Sith alike devise and utilize their own fighting styles, which are typically based on one or more of the pre-established lightsaber forms. Darth Vader, for example, was mainly a Form V specialist who mixed and matched elements of the remaining six into his combat repertoire to create something original and uniquely varied.

Would these be the Seven you spoke of ZyobotThe Way of the Saber: 7 Forms of Lightsaber Combat
Form I: Shii-Cho. When learning lightsaber techniques, a Jedi or Sith apprentice is trained to recognize all seven forms of combat. ... Form II: Makashi. ... Form III: Soresu. ... Form IV: Ataru. ... Form V: Shien & Djem So. ... Form VI: Niman. ... Form VII: Juyo (or Vaapad)

I wonder how they come up with those sorts of names, and this question applies to fiction outside of Star Wars too.

Since I received the green light to post them, here are some Generation Tech videos that detail where various Star Wars factions align on the two-dimensional political compass. Where is the FIRST ORDER on the POLITICAL COMPASS?Where is the Galactic Empire on the Political Compass?Where is the Galactic Republic on the Political Compass?Where is the Separatist Alliance on the Political Compass?
Thanks Zyobot although trying the 1st its not available in "you country" which could mean just Britain or the entire EU? The others work fine through.

I'm sorry to hear (or, well, read) that the first video doesn't work for you. Sadly, I'm unsure what I can do about either Britain and/or the EU blocking it .

To update a thread that hasn't been added to in a couple days, here's yet another lore-focused video by Star Wars Theory.
