No offense to Your taste but Hundred just seems like the kind of light novel that go a dime a dozen nowadays, what about it catches Your interests besides the mecha? Personally I Will just stick to watching The Devil is a Part-timer (which does a great job of balancing silliness With drama and characterisation) and Lagrange (which seems promising enough so far) before switching over to Assassination Classroom (which is very good at characterisation, comedy and providing qouteble dialouge) Yes you have found it out, i like mechs a lot, i do like Maoyu, its a very good anime. I prefer charecterisation, comedy and strong female protagonists. And yuri of course, that sweet, sweet yuri. My recomadations are: Ben-to!: fighting/comedy. An affectionate parody of shohen fighting anime, lots of great fight scenes With unusual styles. Lyrical Nanoha: magical girl/military. It adds giant laser beams and later a military setting to a magical girl anime. It is a trendsetter for a reason. No Game no Life: Adventure/comedy. An anime that manages to make cheating and game theory awesome. It is worth watching just for the big games. School-live: Slice of life/zombie apocalypse. It puts an unusual twist on the moe genre and has great (and cute) main characters. Konosuba: RPG/comedy. Another affecionate parody, this one differs from Ben-to in that it subverts, plays With or deconstruct every trope it can get its hands on. Still worth watching by virtue of how fun it is. Madoka Magica: magical girl/drama. A major subversion of standard magical girl series that is pretty much the Evangelion of modern day. Watch it without being spoilt for Maximum effect of the shear amount of Wham lines. Vividred Operation: magical girl/action. Featuring influence from Gurrenn Lagan, Nanoha, Madoka and even some Evangelion, this series took one look at Madoka's direction and decided they wanted none of it. Since you seem to like Strike Witches you might like this one to because they share the same director and several influences.

Just because an anime has a weird premise does not mean you should feel ashamed of watching it. Some animes and franchises have very wierd premises but People love them anyway just because the execution is so good. Just look at Kantai Collection and Girls und Panzer.

I watched one episode and was imedatly turned off by the Director's butt fetish and the shear amount of gratious fanservice. Though the same Thing happened when I was watching Kill la Kill and Prison School. I might come back to Kill la Kill though because I have heard good Things about it and its themes.

So it is about a School sport that teaches Girls how to use mecha musume Versions of ships? I am asking because the blurb sounds like about half the other series that have come out this year.

I like the ships and it is something like girls Und Panzer but then with Japanese warships. I watched the first episode, my initial thoughts are: -definitly influenced by Girls und Panzer. -the CGI gets rather glaring at times, like when they were lifting anchour. -I am not entirely sold on some of the designs of the characters yet. -Why is the Musashi housing the same number of students as the Hasekaze? It is one of the largest Battleships ever build, it could probably house five time the amount and still have room to spare. -that part With the rice cooker was funny the first time, don't milk it to much. -we seem to be missing the naval geek. Were was she when she could have pointed out that destroyers are the workhorses of all naval operations while Battleships are giant moneysinks?

You are overthinking it, its a anime with ships and girls, i will see if it goes someplace, if not, there are plenty new anime that have come out this spring.

But as I pointed out it had some design flaws that dragged the experience Down for me (was I the only one who thought the instructor's purple hair was rather garish?).

No girl in anime has normal hair.
