That was an alternate ending he wrote but then people didn't like it and it was inconsistent with the post reaching to 2032 so vaccines were removed entirely Now that sucks on the vaccines. Hopefully Duterte dies from the plague. Lets not go specific on which people need to die in this thread |

My Personal theory about Crossed Outbreak is that Crossed "Virus" is in fact carried by genetic material and was triggered by very specific environmental conditions, in the same way that some sickle cell anemia patients are affected by the epidemic only after having been in regions with an atmosphere less rich in oxygen ... otherwise the mode of propagation reminds me of contamination by an agent similar to a prion.

Ben and his new acquaintance Nicole had managed to slip out the blood soaked hospital unnoticed. The rest of the staff were dead or worse. They slipped around the side of the hospital grounds practically tip toeing. Each twig crunching beneath their feet a potential give away.
Ben's heart pounded in his chest as he poked his head around the corner to check if the coast was clear. The carpark and front entrance were a wreck of tangled bodies and gore. There was no sign of anyone living though.
"Come on." He whispered as he gingerly made their way over the carpark towards an ambulance. The doors were wide open and lights still flashing. The driver had obviously left in a hurry. Nicole climbed into the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt whilst Ben went to close the wide open back doors.
"Fuck!" He said louder than intended as he recoiled reflexively. A man was strapped to the gurney in the back of the van, thrashing around like a man possessed.
"Fuck you hahaha" the wild eyed man laughed "I though you'd all forgotten about me. No doubt in there having an orgy. Let me join the party !"
Luckily the infected was fastened securely to the gurney. Ben dodged just in time as the man spat at him, the bloody grog landing on the ambulance window instead.
"Filthy bastard" he muttered as he reached over to a shelf and grabbed a large plastic face shield that hung there and placed it over his face. "Spit on me now arsehole."
Ben wheeled the restrained crossed out of the ambulance and onto the road with the intention of leaving him there to his fate.
"Wait...don't... leave...don't leave me...like this."
Ben turned around and stared at the Crossed, unsure if he had heard correctly despite the rash on his face and the constant thrashing, he sounded almost Human there.
"What did you say?"
"Please don't leave me like...ahh...untie me so I can shit in your mouth. Aarrgghhh no. No. I can't fight it. Please. Kill me. Please...do...do it! Urrgh it burns my fucking blood. Make it...make it stop. Ahhh haha let's fuck a tree."
Ben started at the Crossed in sympathy. There were tears streaming down his cheeks between laughter and sobs.
"Fucking do it!" He screamed.
Ben went back into the ambulance and come out with a large injection of painkillers.
"I'm sorry this happened to you mate." Ben said sympathetically.
"Not as...not as sorry as...me." he cried and then laughed again "stick it up my dick hole!"
Ben administered the lethal injection and the man muttered a barely audible "thank you" as he slipped out of consciousness.
It was all he could do to fight back the tears as he climbed into the drivers seat.
"What was the hold up?" Nicole asked.
"Nothing." Ben muttered. "Lets get out of this graveyard."
"Where we going then?" She asked as she eyed the wrecked cars and dead bodies dotting the hospital carpark. She turned the radio on to listen for any new updates. The Prime Minister was speaking.
"...urge the public to remain calm. Our advice still remains the same : Stay Home, protect the NHS and Save Lives. Avoid contact with the infected at all costs and only travel if absolutely necessary. You must remain at home unless you are in a dangerous area and it is no longer safe to stay where you are. I've instructed the armed forces to protect the entrances into London so we can keep our people safe. Please remain calm. We will restore order and bring the situation under control within days."
"Is he for bloody real? Does he honestly think this will sorted in days?" He said as he pulled the ambulance out of the hospital grounds and onto the deserted main road. "I guess we head for London then."

Well that was close. I would expect that sort of response by the government, especially this early into things when they don't realise the extent of the problem and then once they do start realising their likely to panic.
There are two dangers for them heading to London especially. Once the authorities start to realise what is happening their likely to start applying the stay put order with extreme force so they could end up getting shot or at least turned back. Also while they don't know for sure how the plague is spread they could possibly carry some infection in the ambulance.

"Basingstoke is a write off" Home Secretary Priti Patel informed the Prime Minister via video link. The cabinet was meeting virtually these days so as to maintain social distancing. "They massacred the police checkpoint protecting the town and rampaged right across town. It's a bloodbath. We've had all remaining police units in the area retreat south in an effort to protect the routes into Southampton and Portsmouth."
Boris Johnson felt sick "I see. How many...um...how many dead, dare I ask?"
"Thousands no doubt. Many more infected. They had no warning. Most people were at home when they came rampaging through, whilst others were killed on their daily walk. They didn't stand a chance. The BBC has been running the footage on a loop. It's rather distressing."
"God, right okay what about Reading, what's the latest?" The PM asked.
"The southern approaches are lost. The police put up a strong fight but were forced back by 5 this afternoon, so about 3 hours ago. The outskirts are war zones. Riot police and armed response are fighting a delaying action to allow people to evacuate . The western blockades still hold for now but that won't matter if the defences in the south are completely routed. I understand the Army has now arrived in force on the western approaches into London and setting up serious firepower to protect the capital" the Home Secretary confirmed.
"Is this a dream?" Boris asked himself before pushing himself to carry on. "Alright, how long for some kind of treatment to be developed?"
The Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty spoke up "umm honestly don't hold out hope on any kind of vaccine or cure in the short or medium term. This is a novel virus, we have never seen anything like it. We don't know where to even start looking at how to combat it yet. From what my staff are telling me it is constantly shifting and changing. It's fascinating to see on an epidemiological sense. The fact that the incubation period is so incredibly short - in some cases as little as 30 seconds - is equally terrifying and fascinating from a scientific perspective. No virus in history has ever been this fast in showing symptoms. It should not be possible. It's very existence is counter to all known science."
"So, could this be a bioweapon ?" The PM asked.
"I don't think so. No government or group has the scientific know how or resources to artificially create something like this. Plus something so virulent would be likely to seriously rebound on the instigator especially if it's a state actor. I would not want to even speculate where this has come from. It's like it just appeared by magic."
"Well regardless of whether it's terrorists, magic or bloody aliens we need to be able to find a way to fight it." Home Secretary Patel grumbled.
"Copious amounts of firepower are the only option in the immediate future. It'll be several months before we can have a vaccine, if indeed we ever can create one. There appears to be no reasoning with the infected therefor the only way to combat this virus is to quite literally kill its victims. " Professor Whitty said in a tone of sadness.
"That's going to create some interesting legal hurdles." The PM said rubbing his head "we need to have parliament sit to hash out some kind of law allowing ...well...allowing wholesale murder of British citizens."
Nobody spoke for several moments as the grim reality struck them. They would need to kill thousands of UK citizens in order to save millions more.
"Everyone has seen what these people - if you can even call them people anymore - are capable of. We shouldn't have any issues getting emergency legislation passed to deal with them as we need to deal with them. That does bring me to a question for Professor Whitty : why are they so bloody evil?" That question was asked by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.
"Well, we have taken to calling it Inhibition Deficiency Virus, or IDV20 for short. It seems to affect the part of the brain that controls our inhibitions. Kind of like when you are very drunk and therefor you sort of "loosen up" and are more likely to do stupid things. Well imagine the bravery to do something you normally wouldn't do but 1000 times that. It takes away the fear of consequence whilst simultaneously increasing aggression and sex drive. Basically the infected are acting out the very worst fantasies or thoughts that people normally put right to the very back of their mind. This is why we are seeing not only murder and rape, but the infected commiting for lack of a better term an almost work of art out of the way they kill some victims. Some of the tortures are very inventive if you could call it that. The increased sex drive amomgst the infected appears to be a byproduct of the virus in an effort to increase its spread. Many of those infected are people who have been sexually assaulted. It's spreading much like AIDS albeit much, much faster."

It would depend on where they are but almost certainly be moved to somewhere very safe [or what the government thinks is safe] under heavy armed guard ASAP. Only likely if any of them were in Windsor, which isn't too far from Reading and some infected decided to make a bee-line for them.

One small quibble in that its Reading not Redding - possibly just a typo?
Boris needs to get his finger out and act urgently. Its only going to be armed force that can try and stem the pandemic and any chance to investigate and find a cure must wait until there is some control. While its spreading like wildfire that's not an option.
