It is possible, probably.
They might even give it to another ethnic group, let's say, the Romani.

There needs to be a compelling reason why something is done, not just a blanket exploration of consequences, as, like in any case, the reasoning has a direct impact.
This one isn’t directly adjacent to the USSR, nor in Poland. It is a separate location, which has some bearing.
Whilst Stalin did consider a Gypsy SSR/autonomous region in the 1930s, the war changed his priorities. They could not offer anything that Hungary or Romania could not do better. There was also little propaganda reason for any move, as the Gypsies didn’t really attract the same level of sympathy.

Maybe the Romanian coup in '44 either fails or does not occur, forcing the Red Army to conquer the country. After the war, Transylvania is administered separately from Romania/Hungary under military rule for a few years. However the plausibility of this is quite a stretch, as the region had been part of Romania prior to the war and keeping it separate could be seen as a vindication of the Second Vienna Award.

Very true and it has the singular disadvantage of upsetting both Hungary and Romania. Giving it to either will upset the other and Hungary was seen as smaller and less important, but will win some support from the other.
