Now that Georgia is part of NATO Putin can't invade it. I wonder how that changes history.
Putin COULD have Russians emigrate in large numbers to Georgia but that probably will backfire since many of those immigrants would like not to live under his control

What if Georgia did everything in its power to join NATO in the 1990s? How could Russia veto NATO? The organization alliance built to protect against Russia itself? Had Georgia joined NATO it would have prevented a lot of bloodshed then and today

Hindsight is 20/20 but they made the wrong decision NATO could have prevented the Russo-Georgian War and other conflicts

I meant in 1990s before Ossetia broke off from Georgia and fell under Russian control Never thought of Russia as a literal parasite until this year

Still would have part of Georgia occupied by Russia which could risk war with NATO. I meant in 1990s before Ossetia broke off from Georgia and fell under Russian control Never thought of Russia as a literal parasite until this year Georgia became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991, the Republic of South Ossetia was formed in 1992 and the Republic of Abkhazia was formed in 1992. So Georgia does not become a member of NATO as i have said before with Russians occupying parts of Georgia, and not in the 1990s.

NATO expansion only began in 1997, with basically the Visegrad Four joining.
