That is an interesting question; the short answer is yes for some, no for others, and a lot of general "leave me out of it" for others. Best, Could and would the Union support or try to create a rebellion by the Quebecois even if the change was small that no-majority of the Quebecois would take up arms against the British.

Definitely, and there were plenty of "likely candidates" for the job; BROS spells out who I think would have been among the potential choices...
Best

The French as in the 2nd Empire? Good question, which will come up in BROS - just not yet. Just posted Part 2 of Chapter 6, finishing off June, 1862; mix of the "Central" front (Mississippi River to Nashville, Tennessee) and then back to Portland, Maine, where the II Corps faces the British, with a focus on Meagher's Irish Brigade. Best,

Best, Thanks i will read it. It is always assume i think that the French will support the confederacy in their struggle, but if the Quebecois might rise up against the British, that might become a issue for them i think.

Great minds think alike ... please stand by But then again would this not go against the Monroe Doctrine, a doctrine the United States lives by.

Publicly? Yes...
But privately?
Humm... Many crimes have been committed behind closed doors, over brandy and cigars, have they not?
Best,

Best, So the United States may agree not to not take any action again the French, (seems that there are some examples before, during and after the civil war) actions in Mexico in return for a possible neutrality in the civil war.

You might think that; I couldn't possibly comment. Best, Well i have my own ideas, yours are much better regarding the civil war. Also i would think that the United states knows that even with out their help or backing the people of Mexico will resistance any outside force trying to force its will on them, they will fight until they have run out of people to fight with, that means that for the French even if they get a agreement with the United States of none intervention, Mexico will still be a very troublesome place for them.

Kind of you to say.
Mexico is, indeed, a potential quagmire for the French.
