en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samantha_SmithAnyone remember her? The thinking floating around that she would have grown up to be a U.S. diplomat or politician is pretty out there. As Samantha's mother noted in an interview, Samantha went from one week where she stated she wanted to be a tutu and tights clad ballerina. She had never taken a ballet lesson. [Edited to fix a mess-up]

Samantha Smith would have played no role in the future of domestic politics or world relations post her moment in the sun if she had lived, as far as I can foresee anyway. Moreover, I don't mean this in an offensive way, but I find the talk of her clothing and semi-sexualisation of her figure, being that she was a child, unsettling. This is an alternate history website and I don't think this is necessary when discussing a person and especially a child.

fixed. I didn't intend to be creepy. Samantha is described as "gawky" in a newspaper review of her TV series Lime Street.

David Tenner of SHWI and AH Dot Com said Lime Street would fail even with Samantha (and the critics pretty much unanimously agreed she was the best thing in it) and she'd fade into obscurity except for "where are they now?" pieces in the press.

She might experience a return to fame starting from 2014 due to Russia's aggression in Ukraine, though.

mullauna, posting only a link does not explain what you mean with a post.

lordroel I meant that Sarah York is a likely trajectory for Samantha Smith in the ATL - living in obscurity and forgotten except by Cold War and 1980s buffs.
