The Duchies of Suzdal & Moscow assist instead of resist the Principality of Vladimir. Then to prevent this timeline form being boring all these slavic states unify with the republic of Novgorod. Probably making some compromise that each duke will take turns being king of this new state and that their children will marry each other to create a single dynasty and adopt some of the republican attributes of Novgorod, but just barely enough to prevent it from weakening due to civil wars.

Russia is born much earlier and continues its pre-Mongol trajectory into a merchant-based proto-capitalist nation
Eastern Europe is much better off due to the reduced Mongolian influence and much more prosperous Russia

shadow007, Do you think it would still go on the conquering spree and become as big as it is in OTL to make sure no one could do to them whatthe Mongols had done?

continues its pre-Mongol trajectory into a merchant-based proto-capitalist nation wym merchant based? How was Russia merchant based? Novgorod was a Merchant Republic. The Russian Principalities pre-Mongol were developing their merchant class. The Russians were forced to adopt Mongol culture to be badass enough to drive back the Mongol invaders In this scenario the Novgorods and their pro-merchant/proto-capitalist culture unify and expand Russia So this Alternate Russia is richer, bigger, more populated and in some ways closer to the US Russia's neighbors would be forced to adopt capitalist policies in order to keep up resulting in larger economic and technological growth
