Maria-Theresia forged alliances with extremely powerful and rich France and Russia (and eventually Sweden). The Prussian army was smaller than the Austrian army, not to mention the Russian, French and Swedish armies. Neither Prussia nor Austria had money to finance a war. Frederick was lucky that Britain signed an alliance with him, financed Prussia, sent troops to fight in Germany, wiped out the French navy, blockaded France and ruined French forces overseas, capturing French colonies in North America and India.
