Earlier today, I watched The Karate Kid for the first time... the 1984 original, not the 2010 remake! It was a bit of an odd experience for me, because I was already familiar with the characters from watching Cobra Kai, and much of the story had been re-established in that show anyway . But it was nice to see where the story started!

I watched the movie my dog skip it brought back my childhood memories . Hacksaw Ridge is a great movie and I don’t see why people dislike it because it is like 90% historically accurate at least. And on my way from going to church buddy drove me we had a great conversation about Star Wars the clone wars

Though the ridge was wayyy much taller than the one in real-life.

14 days is an excellent movie though it's long, and Gods and Generations are probably one of my favorite movies that I saw recently. I really wanna see the new top gun movie . I grew up with City Chitty chitty bang bang and I saw it relatively recently like a month ago and I probably get the humor more than adult than I did as a kid.
One really good silent film I’ve seen this semester The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog.
So far my favorite actor might actually be Buster Keaton and Probably The funniest silent film movie would be Steamboat Bill, Jr. And it might be my favorite it’s a tough one between steamboat Bill Junior ever says London fog

Interesting video from Metetron on the new film " The Woman King". With one exception, which he thinks it got right, he's deeply critical on both its almost total lack of historical accuracy and its dishonest message as a result, which he classifies as propaganda.

Hmmm I wonder if I should watch it sometime. I just watched the new top gun movie and it’s really good and at the very least it’s a good movie. The original top gun was stupid but I do like the fact that Maverick improves from his past self. Even though Iris rented the movie it is worth watching it in theaters even if you’ve already seen it

In the Music thread, I posted up the theme to 1492: Conquest of Paradise. I'm going to make time to watch the whole picture again this week, but for now, this short clip does show the quite, quite brilliant writing it had at certain junctures.
A movie about Columbus would be next to impossible in this day and age, but for all its flaws, the 1992 picture by Ridley Scott starring Gerard Depardieu has aged well in my view.
The final scene of the film has an aged Columbus looking out wistfully onto the Atlantic as his youngest son seeks to write the story of his life.
"What do you remember?"
"I remember...I remember..."
At that point, a lovely shot from earlier in the film is played, of the first sighting of the New World, a verdant green paradise emerging from the rolling mist and fog. The final shot is of a drop of ink dripping from Fernando's quill as his father is transfixed in the memory of that greatest moment of his life, a split second when the world changed. Fade into the credits and the main theme begins. Rarely has there been a more stirringly beautiful image in the last few shots of a picture for me; some have been grander admixed with sadness (Chariots of Fire), some more striking and disturbing (If...) and some more triumphant and glorious (300), but this is a moment of beautiful film making from a master at his craft.

Got "House of Cards" (the British original) as a gift. Only watched the first two episodes yet, but one may count it as honorary AH.
