It's very interesting, but for some reason, it feels a little exaggerated, with all the mass casualties and the like. But still, it's clear that there was a strong resistance movement.

It's very interesting, but for some reason, it feels a little exaggerated, with all the mass casualties and the like. But still, it's clear that there was a strong resistance movement. Some of the other articles on the site are a bit gung-ho and there are serious factually inaccuracies in one - about the Soviet widow who 'bought a T-34 and went after the Nazis' so some of the figures are probably rather inflated. However understandably given the Japanese occupation policies and the large amounts of difficult terrain in the islands there was plenty of incentive for a high level of resistance. Things were pretty bloody in the Philippines, even before the US invasion in late 44.
