What if Gene Roddenberry died in the car accident in the early or mid 1970's? What would science fiction today be like?

Captain Jordan ..I think star trek will still get made. Star trek the motion picture may have a different plot and tone//when t.n.g. comes around. D.c. Fontana, David gerrold may have made a bigger contribution/

Probably no Andromeda and I think he did a couple of other shows.
Not sure with Star Trek but without his influence it may be somewhat less optimistic and hence probably less popular?
