Could John Edwards have ended up as Obama's VP pick?
He was running for the Democratic nomination himself for the 2008 election but in late 2007, the first allegations of his extra-martial affair came out and derailed him. Even without those, I don't think he could have beaten either Obama nor Clinton for the nomination.

If his affair hadn't happened, or his behaviour wasn't uncovered, could Obama have picked him?
What could Edwards have brought to Obama's campaign? What kind of VP could he have been?

Yep. Plus, he was old and thus didn't overshadow Obama like a younger VP could have.
