James G, why don't you do a scenario on a Third World War between the Soviets-NATO in 1983-1984?

It's interesting reading a list of current active Russian Navy ships. The vast majority of major combatants are Soviet era leftovers. They are really going to be struggling to equip a navy, and a gutted army, and a new air force.
Of course they will remain on the UNSC due to nukes...
Anyway, fab story and can't wait for the next one. The rate of writing is very impressive!

This has been a cracking timeline and I look forward to whatever the authors have planned as their next collaboration or on their own.

This is a bittersweet ending to the TL. The Baltic countries may never truly recover from the war considering their own economic situations and demographics. Belarus may get help in rebuilding if its lucky but my gut feeling is that the country will become a bigger version of Moldova. I.e a poor and corrupt country with emigration to the West as the aspiration for many. I will have to object somewhat to the posited fate of NAT POWs in Russian captivity. The Russian army is not the Soviet Army and while discipline may not be as strong and atrocities may happen. The Russians aren't some kind of barbarians that kill, main and rape everything they see. It's senseless from a strategic standpoint too. Conditions will be harsh for POWs on both sides to be honest. I frankly wouldn't want to be a Russian solider or nurse caught surrendering in the heat of a difficult battle in the Baltics etc. Bad things happen in war sadly :-( What gets me very interested in this timemline is what the fate of my TTL self would have been. I reckon that I would have tried to enlist in some capacity, which means my life would have been completely different. I have a feeling that my TTL self wouldn't have been walking the streets of Moscow in April 2019 like my OTL self did. Or even if I had done so by some kind of miracle, gettong my visa wouldn't have taken just one week ... The Baltics will be full of UXO and uncovered graves too. Belarus doesn't necessarily have to go bad but it probably would. It depends on many factors. I won't disagree on the POWs. You might have a point. I don't think either of us wrote directly about massacres but the intent was there. My defence would be that a lot of it was lack of medical care after injuries in battle but, still, you have a valid point.

James G , why don't you do a scenario on a Third World War between the Soviets-NATO in 1983-1984? It's an idea. I did start and get halfway with an 84 one the other year. The remaining flotilla is a heap of junk after this war! Thank you. I'll see what I can do. This has been a cracking timeline and I look forward to whatever the authors have planned as their next collaboration or on their own. Thank you. We shall have to see where I go next. Great work James and Forcon! Thank you very much.

Re POWs: completely agree that the Russians wouldn't be barbarians towards POWs for the sake of it. However, the GRU does not exactly have a stellar human rights recore and would have no qualms using torture to obtain information. This happened in Chechnya and even US forces did this in Iraq. The vast majority of Allied POWs wouldnt be mistreated out of spite, but rather due to a general lack of care and resources. If you're an enlisted soldier or officer in an infantry unit you'll likely have endured a forced march and a journey in a cramped cattle car before arriving at a camp which would consist of hastily constructed wooden barracks surrounded by barbed wire and ill-disciplined guards.

Congrats on a great story and cooperation. I cannot wait for what comes next! I hoping to write something new very soon. Look out for an announcement in the Writer's Hub forum in the coming days. (no promises when exactly!)
