Some of those encounters are so small that they must have been greatly exceeded by other air battles in the two world wars and later. For instance the US daytime attacks on Germany in 42-44 and the similar night raids by Bomber Command were regularly larger than probably the BoB let alone the 4th battle onwards down the list. Some are of historical importance, such as the Israeli problems in 73 against Egyptian SAMs and the accidental clash between US and Soviet forces in 44 as an oddity but there were much greater clashes. Also say the US raids on N Vietnam are going to be a lot larger than many of the examples, although the defences there were largely SAMs rather than air attacks. Not to mention the massive air forces assembled for invasions of Normandy, Sicily etc. Overall it seems to be a very odd list.

I agree with you, the air Battle over Germany in the Second World War could also be on this list as a great Air Battle, but like it naval counterpart i toughed this was something that is nice to be posted here.
