Here's another (somewhat brief) video that basically compares sizes between the various ships depicted in the Star Trek universe.

Another video I found a while ago, but was only reminded of just now is twenty-minutes of an interview featuring Gene Roddenberry, in regards to Star Trek Judgement Rites.
Star Trek Judgement Rites - Gene Roddenberry Interview (1995) PC MS-DOS
I hope this helps, Zyobot

It's a shame that Roddenberry died before the internet--an innovation that he probably didn't foresee back when he was in charge of Star Trek during the mid to late 20th Century--gained mainstream traction during the 2000s and exploded into the 2010s. I would've been fascinated to learn about his personal reaction to that happening.
That gives me an idea for a thread, in fact: 'Gene Roddenberry Lives Into the 21st Century'.

Well lets say he mange to reach 2005, then he will have witness events like 9/11, the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq war of 2003.

I'm amazed at how small many of the ships are. The original Constitution class for instance. I know that 5 year mission involved a hell of a lot of stops at assorted Federation bases and colonies but having several hundred people in something that small for so long!

I think the spore drive is actually a transwarp technology, meaning that it propels ships faster than traditional warp drives can?

Seems there is a YouTube clip about it comparing them: Cool vid; certainly hard for me to keep up with while watching up to the brief restatement of what was already detailed, with all of the millions and billions thrown around there. Even though it may not necessarily seem that way at first, Star Trek can be surprisingly (even exceptionally) OP from time to time.
