I just finished part 1 of Manifest Season 4. I am speechless. Good tv 📺 show? Well I just watch the history channel of speculation of Mayans in North America. While it sounds insane and I’m unsure of what to make out of it i’m not gonna be judge mental. I saw a Little bit of mash which I haven’t seen enough to really care for it. I’m Austin a very good mood right now. Is Yellowstone any good ?I’ve wondered about it.

Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas are always subject to ancient alien theories which makes me laugh.

I am watching America Unearthed and I spent a lot of my time fact checking. So it was proven in the second episode with the gravesite that was a hoex it’s about a English knight coming to America.
The Mayans going to North America is just a connection .

I’ve recently watched Colditz (BBC 1972-74) as a bit of after shift work wind down. It is an extremely well made and acted series, with very good attention to detail and locations. The difference between it and modern WW2 television series is quite, quite marked.

I caught a little of Endeavour tonight and was pleasantly impressed. It is the prequel to Inspector Morse, set in the 1960s (I believe), and has a decent adherence to atmosphere, style, language and costume from what I’ve seen. I did note that the actor playing young Morse has a passing resemblance to some of the late John Thaw’s acting mannerisms, facial expressions and voice in a certain respect, which is a tick in the right box for me.
I do like a good period television show as compared to modern settings and have found that a lot of contemporary attempts at ‘doing the past’ come up far short. For example, the recent adaption of The Ipcress File got the buildings and costumes right, but the characters came across as very, very modern folk shoehorned into an old setting. This for me is a big flaw and a reasonably recent negative development; 1990s and early 2000s period pieces didn’t see it as necessary to transpose the past to the present, as it were.
I’ll have to see more to form a more fulsome opinion on it and where it lies in British crime/detective mysteries/drama television series. My current list of preferences include Foyle’s War (a clear winner), Ripper Street, The Sweeney, Life on Mars + Ashes to Ashes, the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series from the 1980s, Father Brown (Mark Williams always reminds me of him as Olaf Petersen in Red Dwarf) and Hannay. Any further recommendations welcomed.

I definitely liked it when it 1st came out but gradually drifted away from it. Found the contrast between the idealistic young Morse and the distinctly jaded and snobbish older one interesting.

Alas not. In my ongoing search referred to a few posts back, I’ve watched a bit of Inspector George Gently. A bit less complex than Endeavour in plotting, but very sound in characters. The interplay between Gently and Bacchus is very well done, similar in some ways to Morse and Thursday; the older two officers are very similar in their history, giving scope to them ‘meeting’ in a spin off story… (I fear I’ll have to wait a long while for a team up between Jack Regan and Endeavour Morse, though. ) It does play up the changing nature of 1960s society a tad more, but does so in a reasonably realistic manner.

Is anyone watching Squid Game: The Challenge?
I've seen the first two episodes - and so far, I think it's a great recreation of the games (with the obvious exception that the losing players don't die). And it does add some twists of its own to help keep things fresh!

I'm currently enjoying the 1978 ITV miniseries Disraeli with Ian McShane in the title role. An excellent political biography that doesn't go into areas that one might find today, replete with intelligent scripting and sumptuous costumes.

I finished up to the series where you have to pay for it the Food that built America series’s. I find that series, relaxing 😎. Well, I do enjoy the toys that built America as I find it more interesting it’s just isn’t the same relaxation. Honestly, those two TV shows are better to watch around Christmas.

Have vague memories of that series.
