The Western Allies win the Battle of Crete in 1941: effects on the course of the war?

The Battle of Crete was won by the Germans but it wasn't easy for them. Change a few things and Crete stays in Allied hands.
Now what?
Do the Germans try again? What role does Crete play in the war as an Allied base? Does the whole war in the Med., thus the North African Campaign too, change dramatically if Crete is still held?
