Montenegrin coup d'état of 2017 succeeds?

Back in September 2017, there was a reported effort to overthrow the government of Montenegro - including killing the PM - done to stop the Balkan country moving closer to the West.

It was stopped ahead of the planned attack.
Should it have not been detected - Serbia played a big role in alerting Montenegro - what could have been the effects? Here we would have had a European democracy taken down by violent means by foreign mercenaries.

If not sure if they planned to should it have gone that far.
It would have been most interesting if they had though. Serbia intervening in a neighbouring country, once part of Yugoslavia, not to impose Belgrade's will there but to save a democracy that was seeking to align with the West.

Any movment of Serbia into Montenegro will make the EU and NATO nervous, Serbia still has one of the best armed and trained armies in the Balkans, also Kosovo will wonder if they will be next.
