I've been re-reading The Salvation War series: there is a third instalment currently being written and hopefully we shall see the Devils this time after Demons and then Angels were defeated.
It got me thinking. In the beginning of Armageddon, a Hellgate opened in Iraq and an army sent by Satan marched out. American-led Coalition forces in the country as part of the occupation met them in battle, defeated General Abigor's force, and then marched into Hell to take on the rest of what Satan had to play with.
Tomorrow, a Hellgate opens up in Iraq and out comes an army: this time without the preamble of God abandoning the world and Satan's claim of supremacy.
Does the world unite and fight that army in a conventional fight? Is that army nukedinstead? Does the world - literally - go to hell?

I forgot to respond: I think I read this upon waking up, when I was a bit Zombie like.
The story had it opening in western Iraq, some distance form Baghdad.
So here in this scenario, it opens up there in the open desert again.

Not anywhere enough conventional forces to take on Hell before they consolidate their position. Nuke em with H bombs, then bounce the rubble and then bounce it again.

Did The Salvation War by Stuart Slade have not a hell gate open up in Iraq and the forces of Hell got some American lead to eat. |
