List of Universes in DBM - and PODs
Universe 1 The 4 kaioshins didn't sat on their hands. Basically they survived Kid Buu onslaught because they saw it coming and vaporized Bibidi before he got enough energy to create Buu. From this moment, the Kaioshins decided to take personal care of all the Dragon Ball Universe villains before they overmatched them.
So they slaughtered the Frieza family, Bojack, and many other threats.
In the present time, the Vargas approached them and asked permission to organize a multiverse tournament. The Kaioshins accepted (for mysterious reasons and despite the risks - and indeed the shit had hit the fan !) and recruited their universe Nameks to help.
Universe 2 A Toryiama inside-joke, Doctor Slump and Nekomajin included.
Universe 3 Saiyen-verse (version 1.0)
Remember Baddack the father of Goku ? did you shed a tear when frieza killed him and the entire planet Vegeta ?
Subverted ! We should actually thanks frieza to have erased that pestiferous vermine.
Because the Saiyens are evil bastard of brutes that made their universe even more horrific than Universe 8 - the one where Frieza won the day.
Baddack took his future visions seriously and used them to guide the saiyens toward domination. Universe 3 Vegeta mastered SSJ1, fought against King Broly (the horror !) and got ride of him - with help from Baddack.
Universe 4 - Buu-verse (1.0)
Once inside Buu Vegeta and Goku blundered. Vegeta was absorbed and Buu won against a lone Goku. Buu started exploring the universe but found that the "gentle" personalities he had absorbed (Goku, Gohan) made a him more stable. He remained cruel and vicious, however.
Universe 5 - the McGuffin
Nothing is know about this one. Except for Xsi / XXI who managed to beat the all powerful U16 Vegetto through magic.
Universe 6 - Bojack unbounded
Bojack killed Gohan and the end result was... a very ugly universe.
Universe 7 - Namek finest hour
Instead of beging slaughtered by Frieza, the Nameks got one hell of an idea: they all fused together into an "ultra Namek"- GAST CARCOL.
Who slaughtered Frieza family with only his little finger.
Only to find himself the lone Namek in his universe.
Universe 8 - Emperor Frieza family.
At the end of the Saiyen battle Krillin beheaded Vegeta with Yajirobe sword. Bad, bad idea. End result: once on namek Zarbon, Dodoria, The Ginyue Squad and Frieza slaughtered Gohan, Krillin, Bulma and later, Goku.
Frieza, brother Cooler and father Cold (with a twist !) ruled the universe. And Ginyue used his body change power to... oh well.
Universe 9 - The Earthling underdogs
Little is known about this one but with some luck and courage the Earthlings - Tien, Yamcha, Krillin - managed to survive without Goku - baby Kakarotto was vaporized just like Baddack and Planet Vegeta were. By Cooler, which angered Frieza and led to a vicious fight that Frieza lost.
Include: a Muten Krillin with a beard, a cyborg Yamcha, and an extremely badass Videl mastering kaioken. There is also a Trunks, the son of Bulma and... Yamcha
Universe 10 - Alternate Universe 1
With primitive Saiyens and Nameks.
Universe 11 - Buu-verse 2.0
Fat Buu, Babidi and Dabura prevailed - with a POD in the Cell-Cyborg saga which made the Z-team too weak.

Trunks timeline, as shown in DBZ.
Universe 13 - Saiyen-verse, 2.0
Baby Kakarotto never hurt his head, never become Goku, and slaughtered Krillin, Grandpa Gohan and the whole Earth.
20 years later Raditz recovered a complete Dexter / Hannibal Lecter -like Saiyen nutjob - a Kakarotto immortal with that (!). Crazy Kakarotto and Raditz joined Vegeta and Nappa, escaped Frieza wrath and finally managed to unlock SSJ1 and rule their (bleak) universe.
Universe 14 - the Cyborgs
Bleak one: evil teens C-17 and C-18 killed the whole Earth. Trunks was nowhere to be seen, courtesy of Cell.
Universe 15 - Related to the above. everybody has died: Cell, trunks, Cyborgs, Z-team.
Basically, the Trunks / Cell / Cyborgs timelines are a complete mess, and interwined to create Universe 11, 12, 14, 15.
Universe 16 - Almighty Vegetto
A carbon-copy of the familiar DBZ U18, with a twist - similar to U4 but in reverse. Vegetto never defused inside Buu and later killed the beast with only his little finger. And so the hero Vegetto triumphed over the evil Buu and everything was as fine as in ordinary DBZ...
Subverted !
Vegetto is shown to be a monstruous anomaly and a ticking bomb. No surprise: Vegeta personality can't stand Goku, yet they are trapped together for eternity. The conflicting personalities result in a lot of anger and resent.
Add to that: no fight, no valuable adversary left and lot of boredom.
And an uncontrolable daughter - Bra ! - as unstable and dangerous as her father... who drove her half insane.
Two ticking bombs... U16 is doomed, sooner than later.
Universe 17 - Cell triumphant
He killed Gohan. Bad things followed.
Universe 18 - the familiar DB universe. 30 years after Buu returned as Uub, Vegeta still don't want to hear about SSJ3 but has a trick on his sleeve that is better.
Universe 19 - Saiyen Seiyar !
The reason why Raditz went to Earth to recover his brother, was that Frieza had decided to send the saiyen squad - Vegeta Nappa included - attacking an extremely strong planet. Frieza was certain even saiyen couldn't won.
So who were those guys who scared Vegeta to a point he authorized Raditz to get another Saiyen to bolster the squad ?
The Heloites. Which are proof that extremely advanced technology can turn creatures as weak as Earthlings into killing machines able to hold their ground against Frieza.
You guess, in that universe, the Saiyens went extinct.
Universe 20, final one: BROOOLY !
In this one fate he didn't burned into the star where Goku pushed him. Needless to say, when he come back, he was so bersek, he wipedout the entire universe (the idiot) and ended alone, frozen in ice and in the dark. The idiot Vargas picked him for the tournament and only Vegetto could save the day.
