Sounds interesting. Looking forward to seeing what develops although it seems the US is in for a very rough ride, at least until 2041 and I suspect beyond it. Since there's not much of a story if everything comes up peachy immediately.

A minor aide rushes into the room

[The President and his Chief Advisor are shocked by this news.
[President Jefferson] Does this look like a second 9/11?
[Chief Advisor] We don't have all the facts yet...
[President Jefferson] In an angry rage A FREAK'IN CHINESE PLANE TOOK DOWN THE STATUE OF LIBERTY, THAT'S THE FACT! In a more calm tone I want an investigation. Everyone, NSA, FBI, CIA, even the frink'in IRS, I want every government organization investigating this. Also, put Governor Kennedy-Cuomo on the line.
Soon, President Jefferson is on the phone with NY Governor Cara E Kennedy-Cuomo, daughter of former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo and Granddaughter of former NY Governor Mario Cuomo as well as former NY Senator Robert F. Kennedy
[Governor Kennedy-Cuomo] Yes, Mr. President?
[President Jefferson] Governor, I'm sure you've heard of the situation on Liberty Island?
[Governor Kennedy-Cuomo] Unfortunately, I have heard.
[President Jefferson] I'd like to hear how you plan to respond.
[Governor Kennedy-Cuomo] First, with a Press Conference. Then, a full usage of the New York Police Department and National Guard to find if this is a 9/11 scenario or a true accident.
[President Jefferson] The Chinese send a plane into the symbol of the United States the same day they execute half there Uighur population and the same day Iran announces they have nuclear capacity. This is no accident.
[Governor Kennedy-Cuomo] What do you plan to do about this.
[President Jefferson] Nuke China out of existence.

[President Jefferson] For those of you who have not heard, today, at 10:23 AM, on the date of January 27th, in the year of our lord 2041, this nation was attacked. Not just physically, but mentally, psychologically, even spiritually. This nation suffered a gashing wound, larger then those left after Fort Sumter, Pearl Harbor, and September 11th. The Statue of Liberty, the longtime symbol of freedom in the United States, was destroyed by a plane of the Chinese National Airlines, which departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport at 10:13 AM this morning. The full force of the FBI, CIA, NSA, even the IRS will be investigating the cause.
However, we as a nation should be forced to reconcile that this is an act of terror, of war, and of the most inhuman thing a nation can do to another nation, the most inhuman thing a person can do to another person. I ask Congress to formally declare war on the People's Republic of China, on the grounds that we where attacked.

THE COURSE OF A NATION SEASON 1, EPISODE 3: Battle Hymn of the Republic
Narrator: The United States and her allies quickly went to war against the Shanghai League. However, mysteriously, the nuclear arsenals excepted to wipe nations from the face of the earth refused to work, as if an unknown force was playing the two sides against each other. The United States launched the first attack at North Korea.
A contingent of 12 troops made up of American, British, Korean, and Japanese soldiers march threw N. Korean territory in the area between Kaesong and Haeju.
American Soldier #1: Commander, may we have our rations?
British Commander: No, you may when we capture the city.
American Soldier #2: Dell, please...
British Commander: Of all people, it is the Americans who complain. It was your statue that was destroyed, it was your nation attacked.
Korean Soldier #1: It's our families we are protecting here. Both of you Westerners can shut it about honor and glory. We're fighting for our lives.
The Contingent continues in silence for 2 and a half minutes. Then, bullets rage from behind the Jeep.
Japanese Soldier #1: I'm hit!
The remaining 11 soldiers take a defensive posture. However, it is meaningless. They are surrounded by the Korean, Chinese, and Russian forces.

Narrator: Overall, the United States and her allies where beginning to lose the war. Before Operation McHenry was deployed in mid-2042, South Korea had fallen, and Honshu was the last remaining Japanese Island. Forces in Europe managed to protect the nations of and west of Poland and Austria, but other nations in the Balkans and Baltics fell. Australia and New Zealand protected themselves from invasion as best they could, but even they could not avoid the occasional attempt to invade by the enemy. President Jefferson was in a difficult position.

President Jefferson: What are we going to do?
Vice President Abbott: The best approach right now would be to evacuate mainland Europe and hide everyone in the Americas. We can't do much to save the East.
General Josef McMac: There is another option.
President Jefferson: What is it?
General Josef McMac: We call upon the citizen. We have more guns per capita then any other nation on the planet. If we mobilized our civilian force, we could save our nation?
President Jefferson: What makes you think that would work?
General Josef McMac: Francis Scott Key was a war criminal. He was no soldier, he was a lawyer. This nation remembers the loss it faced, the losses it is facing. They are patriotic. They will unite behind this cause.

President Jefferson initiated an emergency civilian mobilization force, and this army was far from professional. However, this massive armed force of an armed militia, first was deployed in Busan, South Korea. BUSAN, SOUTH KOREAMilitia Leader: Men, Women, Boys, Girls, today we avenge our nation. Today, we avenge those lost in New York City. Today, we give liberty a lifeline! Troops: USA! USA! USA! Militia Leader: So fight, fight for your fathers and your mothers, fight for your sons and your daughters, fight for your nation! Troops march out to the US Army playing 'America the Beautiful' in the background.North of BusanN.K. Spy: Commander, troops are approaching. N.K. Commander: How many? N.K. Spy: More than 500,000 N.K. Commander: Over Intercom Troops, march onward! March! The Americans are upon us. Narrator: The American and North Korean troops clashed in Busan. The Americans, in a bloody rampage, destroyed the entire North Korean force. THE COURSE OF A NATION SEASON 1, EPISODE 5 Narrator: The American troops continued. And continued. And they kept going. They seemed unstoppable for a short amount of time. The armies, invigorated by civilian troops, brought the front lines that where in the suburbs of Berlin in mid-2042 where brought to the suburbs of Moscow in the end of the same year. Siberia, North Korea, and Africa had fallen. Iran and Iraq seemed like they'd fall in around March of 2042. It all seemed to be over for the Chinese. However, the Chinese has a secret weapon of their own ready to deploy. Chinese Scientist #1: Sir, it is ready. Chinese Scientist #2: Putting it in front of the captured. A Humanoid Robot, nicknamed Joey, it the size and shape of a large boxer. He had guns attached to his arms. He goes in front of 5 Tiawanese soliders, who frantically fire at the machine before being torn into pieces.Chinese Scientist #2: I'll be ready to deploy this weapon soon. |
