All 650 seats up for election. Outcome is a Hung Parliament with Labour eventually agreeing with The Alliance (Liberals & SDP) to form a government with their supply-&-confidence. Late in the year, the so-called 'Alliance of the Losers' falls apart and the SDP join with the UUP in forming a coalition government with the Conservatives ahead of a new election.
