I was reading about a Mossad agent who in 1997 almost started a real war between Israel and Syria. He was a famous and well-regarded spy but in the end he just started lying. In the intelligence business, they call those who do this a 'fabricator'. magazine.atavist.com/operation-red-falcon |

That gives access to the magazine but I can't see that story. Possibly its been rotated off the front page?

Very long and detailed. It seems like he was fabricating information but suspect we will never know for sure.
