Here's where you can put your one-shot TL scenarios. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have my first one-shot completed.

Alternate Dominion War ..............
When the portals connecting uptime 2373 and downtime 2364 formed both timelines would never be the same. Especially considering that the Dominion War had just begun in one of those timelines. The Romulans of downtime and uptime quickly and efficiently merged their two governments. A now enlarged Romulan Senate rapidly initiated a series of measures. The first of these measures was a purge of the downtime military, intelligence and government services. M’ret a Vice-consul and Admiral Jarok were some of the most high-profile that vanished. Other measures taken included a tweaking of the interest rate and a new build-up of the military.
The downtime Cardassians rapidly dispatched Guard forces to attack Federation colonies and starbases near the border. Not that they actually wanted to. However the large Dominion fleet in orbit of Cardassia was a strong persuader. The Cardassians as well ordered a new draft and increased ship production. Rationing as well is ordered at a time that the Cardassians can ill afford it. It is an unpopular move along with the resumption of the war against the Federation, though the will of Founders will be implemented. The two Klingon empires swiftly became one after Chancellor K’mpec retired and the High Council’s merged. The first action by the Klingons after this was dispatching over 45 percent of the downtime KDF to the Federation-Cardassian border to assist the downtime Federation. The Klingons increased production at KDF shipyards and increased the number of ships each Great House was expected to provide. While it was a good time to be a warrior, it was not a good time to be a member of House Duras. Duras of House Duras was discommendationed for both the actions of his father and for his endangering the sovereignty and security of the Klingon Empire. That same year Duras would be killed by Kurn after the latter invoked the Right of Vengeance. Kurn would take Duras place at the High Council and the honor of his house restored.[1]
Like the Klingon Empire, the downtime Federation President stepped down and the Federation Council's made into one. The Federation Council in order to insure Starfleet had everything needed to successfully prosecute the war against the Dominion began to initiate a number of measures. This included recalling retired Starfleet personnel and activating the Starfleet Reserve. Starfleet Command ordered crew reduction and increased use of holograms. Construction of new Starfleet Academy's and expansion of existing was approved. These would be needed as Starfleet recruiters were overwhelmed by unprecedented number of people wishing to join Starfleet. To accommodate such as massive increase in recruits, training and courses that would usually take four years would now be done in six months. As well those cadets with sufficient training graduated and assigned to postings as they became available. Ship construction at Starfleet yards was massively increased while at civilian owned yards a slew of orders for new ships were placed. These included orders for Nebulas, Sovereigns,Norway,Akira and Defiant class ships. At the same time production of Ambassador and Galaxy class ships along with others was ended. As well Starfleet began building or expanding a number of shipyards across the Federation to increase ship production. To help immediately reinforce Starfleet, recently mothballed combat capable ships were quickly refitted, crewed and sent to the front lines. Older vessels would take longer and not all vessels would meet the standards to be reactivated and refitted with the latest uptimer technology.
The downtime front between the Federation and the Cardassians in the beginning was a rather bloody stalemate. Not surprising as both nation’s military's were exhausted by years of fighting. Fighting raged all along the border. Neither side in the early phase of fightings, had the needed number of ships to break the stalemate. Raids against both sides outposts and colonies were a daily occurrence. Fleet actions were however more rarer. Most in the first few weeks of the war were initiated reluctantly by the Cardassians on the orders of the Dominion. While the Cardassians did win the occasional battle, the losses suffered far outweighed the reinforcements sent by the Dominion. The Federation on the other hand could much more easily replace its losses. As a result, this front of the war began to slowly turn in the favor of the Federation. The front and the war itself would turn in the favor of the Allies, with the arrival of numerous Klingon fleets and the first batch of wartime built Starfleet ships in late March of 2364.
With sheer numbers, the Allies broke the Dominion lines. Bajor[2] fell within days of the arrival of the Klingon and Federation reinforcements. This disaster forced the withdrawal of Dominion forces from uptime Federation space and required the sending of a numerous Dominion fleets that were needed for fighting Allied forces in the 2373 timeline. For the next three months, Dominion forces would fight tooth and nail to roll back the Allied advance on both fronts. However the sheer number and industrial advantage held by the Allies over their enemies made theses efforts futile. In the third quarter of 2374/2364 the Breen entered the war. On side of the Allies. By this point it was apparent to the Breen Confederacy that the Dominion was doomed. The attack was as devastating as it was a surprise. The Cardassian elements of the fleet took horrendous losses due to the Breen energy dampening weapon. With the opening of new fronts by the Breen resulting in the Dominion spreading its forces thinner, accelerated the advance by the Allies.
In November of 2374 and December of 2364 the final showdown of the war occurred. The twin Battles of Cardassia. Countless thousands of Allied ships were assemble for this final confrontations. Allied fleets from numerous staging points in Cardassian space departed for the homeworlds of the Cardassians. To the surprise of the Allies, the fighting had already started without them. The Cardassians had rose up against their Dominion masters. The Allies quickly joined the foray and for several hours fighting raged. Thousands of ships on both sides were lost and over 2 billion Cardassians were killed. When the fighting was over most of the Dominion and Cardassian leadership was dead. Including the Female changeling. That same month the leadership of the Allies would meet at uptime Bajor with what remained of the Dominion and Cardassian leadership to formally end the war. The Treaty of Bajor resulted in the Cardassian Union ceding territory to the victorious Allies. The Cardassian Guard size was reduced and reorganized as the Cardassian Defense Force. The Cardassians would also agree to forever give up the right to declare war. The Obsidian Order was disbanded and replaced with the newly formed Cardassian Intelligence Agency or C.I.A. As well war trials for members of the Dominion for crimes committed during the war and and three years before it and for the Cardassians war crimes dating back to 2328. The Cardassians and Dominion were to pay reparations and finally Cardassian space was to be occupied by Federation and Klingon forces for five years. With the end of the war, the Alpha Quadrant began the long process of rebuilding and healing.
[1]The downtime version. Not the uptime version
[2]The Allies would discover that the downtime version of the portal had been mined as well by an unknown group.

The Imperial Remnant at first was not involved in the Yuuzhan Vong War. A diplomatic mission to the Remnant by Leia Organa Solo changed that. Grand Admiral Pellaeon seeing the Vong as a threat convinced the Council of Moffs to join the war on the side of the New Republic. However the Imperials withdrew most of their support after the disastrous Battle of Ithor. A very limited military build-up initiated earlier in the year continued as the Imperial Navy found itself working to keep out New Republic refugees.
The Imperial government and the general populace began to believe as the war dragged on that the Vong would not attack them. This foolish belief that should have never have ever existed was put to rest by the surprise Yuuzhan Vong attack on Bastion. Though the Vong invasion was beaten back, the Imperial economy had imploded after the ravaging of Munnilinst. The poverty in the Imperial Remnant that affected much of it’s citizenry worsened. Financial and humanitarian aid from the Galactic Alliance prevented the collapse of the Imperial state.
This aid to the Imperials would be significantly decreased due to what some would call a miracle. For reasons that are still argued about to this very day, the Imperial Remnant found itself replaced with itself from slightly before the Vong attack on Bastion shortly after the war ended. As word spread there was disbelief at first. However planets like Bastion were proof that the Remnant had somehow been swapped. As the galaxy’s surviving stock markets got proof of the Munn homeworld no longer being ravaged, the markets surged.
With the end of the war, investors who had had been sitting on there credits began to invest again and the Imperial Remnant would be a major beneficiary of this. With these investments in the Remnant and many of their competitors literally wiped out by the Vong, Imperial industries roared back to life. Unemployment in the Imperial state began to fall and the number of people below the poverty line as well decreased. The Imperial government began to reap tax revenues that hadn’t been seen it years. This enlarged treasury would be needed.
The Imperial military found it’s size swell as it took command of Imperial fleets and ground units located outside of Imperial space. As a result of a suddenly enlarged military, the Council of Moffs approved the construction of new military bases, shipyards and all other infrastructure needed to support a larger military. A new massive military buildup was approved due to the downtime Remnant finding itself in control of several sectors liberated from the Vong who would later be annexed that year and with some Alliance members leaving to join the Remnant. As well the Imperial Remnant began work on designing next generation starships and weapons to replace its outdated and aging arsenal.
This new economic growth would later be referred to as the Imperial Miracle and would result in what is now known as the Imperial Dream. There are three main qualities embodied by the Imperial Dream. Safety, stability and prosperity. This growth and stability resulted in a flood of refugees and immigrants seeking to settle in Imperial space. The Council of Moffs was divided over what it’s response should be. Aid from the Alliance to subsidize the settlement of refugees and immigrants and pressure from various business interests convinced the Council to grant the new arrivees to Imperial space citizenship. Immigrants and refugees alike settled on established worlds and soon enough on newly established colonies.
The Imperials would also begin to establish colonies west of its territory as the flow of migrants to Imperial space would only continue to grow. A notable colony founded in this period in the territory that would become known as the New Colonies would be New Ithor. A large minority of the surviving Ithorians would settle there and other colonies in the region. As the 30’s[1] progressed the Imperial Remnant began to be increasingly referred to as the Third Imperium and would be it’s official name by 40 ABY.
While the Imperium grew stronger, the same could not be said of the Galactic Alliance. In 37 ABY the Galactic Alliance Senate voted on the Sector Defense Limits Act. The Act would have limit the size of its member states militaries and their capabilities. The act failed to pass. It would also result in the Bother Sector seceding from the Alliance due to various issues with the central government. Over the next three years more members would leave the GA. The loss of these members resulted in loss tax revenues, and membership dues. As well the Galactic Alliance Defense Force found itself weakened due to seceding members withdrawing there starships from Alliance service. With the withdrawal of these worlds also resulted in some officers and rank and file soldiers resigning also further weakening the Alliance military.
Further hurting the military is new cuts to defense spending as the Alliance finds its budget continue to shrink after 37 ABY. The Alliance find itself as well troubled by growing piracy and crime which is blamed on the Bothans and their allies. These growing tensions are leading to growing fears of the possibility of a war breaking out that the galaxy cannot afford to fight.
