Preface: This was a web original story released in the now-defunct horrorschool.com back then in 2011. I am typing this from memory, for I last saw this in 2014 and the site went offline in 2016. There are a lot of mistakes and missing entries. So props to the original author for this.
December 23, 2004
- A U.S. Army sergeant is fatally wounded when his Humvee hits an IED while traveling in Baghdad. He is transferred to Ramstein AB in Germany before being airlifted by C-17 to New Orleans, Louisiana for treatment.
December 24, 2004
- The sergeant dies at 6:04 AM and reanimates three minutes later. Hospital staff are bitten and the infection spreads out of the city. New Orleans goes dark after 16 hours.
December 25, 2004
- Cases of infection are reported throughout the East Coast of the United States.
December 26, 2004
- An undersea earthquake strikes off the coast of Aceh, Indonesia, bringing tsunamis to Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Yemen, Somalia, and Kenya.

- Infections reported throughout San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland, Salem, Seattle, and Tacoma.

- New York City is designated as a temporary safe-zone by FEMA.

- New York City is overrun. The U.S. Air Force bombs the city with several MOABs. A neutron bomb is also allegedly used. The death toll is 1.3 million, both infected and uninfected.
January 12, 2005
- The entire East Coast has been declared overrun by President George W. Bush. Before evacuating the White House, Bush addresses the American public one last time to "unite and fight against the undead as they come to destroy us." He further states this is the worst crisis America has faced since 9/11 four years prior.

- Bush is re-inaugurated in an undisclosed location.

- The United Kingdom transmits its last radio broadcast at 22:00 EST.

- The headquarters for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention explodes after generators run out of fuel, killing all scientists involved in the research for the cure and all possible data that would have been useful against the virus.

- Mexico imposes a shoot-on-sight police on American refugee trying to enter. The United States launches a nuclear weapon towards Mexico City in response for the massacre of American refugees in the border.

- Remaining Secret Service and military units open a bunker in northeast Virginia, finding Bush and all his cabinet Infected.
- Dick Cheney, beneath the STRATCOM bunker in Nebraska, becomes the 44th President after the death of his boss.
March 4, 2005
- Dick Cheney commits suicide as the toll of leading a nation weighs heavily on him. With majority of the cabinet dead and no clear order in sight, the United States has all but dissolved into anarchy. From the ashes, various survivor states emerge around the once great land.

- 5 billion people have died as a result of the pandemic. The WHO estimates that there are over 1 billion Infected worldwide.
- Suicide and depression becomes a secondary epidemic, claiming another 5 million lives.
- In San Antonio, Texas, U.S. military forces left over from the Middle East return home and successfully clear the city from the undead. San Antonio would become the temporary capital of the United States.

- The Arizona National Guard and local Native American tribes from the Navajo Nation band together and successfully retake Phoenix, Arizona.
- Elsewhere around the country, retaking of state capitals do not end up so fortunate.

- Capt. Daniel Harton, United States Army, is elected the "acting" President of the United States due to his heroic actions during the liberation of San Antonio. In his inaugural address, he manages to unite all surviving states in the Sonora Desert. He then sends military support to the survivor states in their battle against the Infected.

- Russian refugees arrive in Alcatraz Island in San Francisco and turn it into a survivor's outpost.

- A cleric named Marcus Sentis, speaking from the enclave of Sacramento, announces that all survivors must follow his religion or "perish in the mouths of the undead." His group of fringe fundamentalist Christians then commit various atrocities for not following his cult. Remaining U.S. Coast Guard units in Northern California pledge allegiance to Sentis.

- Hurricane Eddie hits Florida, killing 10,000 infected and 800 survivors.

- Hearing the news of the Sioux Falls massacre, Acting President Daniel Harton prepares his forces to wage war against Sentis' Christian cult.

- The USS Ronald Reagan accompanied by two USN destroyers, two cruisers, 1 frigate, 3 submarines, and 2 Royal Navy warships arrive off the coast of Los Angeles after abandoning Central America. The ships the began broadcasting signals to any survivors in the West Coast.
20 years later

- Daniel Harton's son chronicles the events of the undead apocalypse that ravaged the world twenty years prior. He states that his father founded the United Colonies of America, which is considered by other surviving states across the world to be the successor of the pre-apocalypse United States up until they could reclaim the mainland from hostile survivors and bandits. He remarks that while humanity has eventually triumphed over the undead, a cure or a vaccine still needs to be found against the infected should the virus reemerge once again.
