Tim Kane: the Old Dominion's Scorpion
"The race for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia has been quite heated recently, between the Republican candidate Jay Katzen and the Democratic candidate, Tim Kane, and the governor's race even more so. However, people here in the Washington region, and indeed nationwide, have been wondering about Tim Kane, the enigmatic Democratic mayor of Richmond.
Tim Kane in his official photograph as Mayor of Richmond as found on his website
Kane's tenure as the Mayor of Richmond has been a shining success story, with a ruthless efficiency that had him dubbed the "Scorpion of the Old Dominion." Under his administration, Kane has had the first new schools in the city in several years, curiously built with massive sculptures of hands grasping globes atop them. When enquired by the Richmond Times-Dispatch about their symbolism, Kane responded "these sculptures represent how all humanity must work together to build a new future, that the future is truly within our hands. We are going to have to act if we want to live in a different world."
Kane has presided over a major series of tax cuts in the city, helping local business. However, the most efficient, and indeed most controversial, aspect of his tenure was how he handled the city's violent crime, but none can deny it was effective.
Kane introduced a 'secret society' (for lack of a better term) to the service of the Richmond local government, the Black Hand. Apparently reporting only to Kane himself, the Black Hand violently stopped any instance of robbery, murder, rape, or other crimes of comparable magnitude. Under the city's police commissioner, Kane appointee Gideon Raveshaw, the Black Hand was credited with reducing the violent crime rate in Richmond by seventy-five percent.
This success has led the state Democratic Committee to nominate Kane as their candidate for Lieutenant Governor, running alongside gubernatorial candidate Mark Warner. However, Kane and the party have clashed over the ongoing war in Afghanistan. Kane has advocated a "Peace through Power" strategy in winning the conflict, something some members of his party have found distasteful.
Excerpt from the Washington Post, late November 2001:
Blue Streak: Warner, Kane, McEachin win Virginia Amid Controversy
The Virginia Democratic Committee, as well as many throughout the Old Dominion, are celebrating the election of a straight Democratic ticket to the state's high offices. Mark Warner won the Governorship, Kane won the Lieutenant Governorship, and A. Donald McEachin won the Attorney Generalship. However, these results are met amid accusations by the state Republican party of possibly violent voter intimidation in their favor, particularly in favor of the Attorney Generalship, Jerry Kilgore.
The Democratic ticket campaigned under the slogan of 'Brotherhood, Unity, Peace,' in which Kane in particular called upon the Commonwealth to "Ascend from its current state into a land of justice and liberty for all Virginians." The rhetorical motif of 'ascension' was repeated several times by Kane and used at times by Warner and McEachin. However, such a motif was possibly undermined by the current accusations.
Such accusations were first made in Henrico county by Lawrence Robertson, who claimed to be heckled and later assaulted by members of an organization calling themselves the Brotherhood of Nod, an organization which had previously made headlines as a lobbying group and political action committee, having donated substantial amounts of funds to Kane's campaign, as did they to the campaigns of Warner and McEachin. Brotherhood members in identity-concealing gear approached Robertson, an outspoken local Republican, and demanded he cease campaigning for the Republican nominees. After refusing, it is alleged that these members of the Brotherhood beat Robertson savagely.

Robertson was found laying unconscious in an alleyway in Varina, a town in Henrico County, by his wife Sarah, who promptly rushed him to a hospital. Robertson is now suing the Brotherhood in state court on the charges of voter harassment and assault.
Similar incidents, all involving the Brotherhood and outspoken local Republicans, have been reported in other parts of the state, mainly in major cities such as Lynchburg, Fredericksburg, and Norfolk, as well as more minor incidents in Suffolk, Isle of Wight, Tazewell, and Goochland counties. This has led to large public suspicion of the results of the election, with members of the state Republican party calling for a new election. One member, who opted to remain anonymous, said that "we are all afraid of the possible ramifications of this. Granted, since [outgoing governor Jim] Gilmore was a Republican, it seemed that the electorate wanted someone more liberal. However, we didn't expect this whole Brotherhood of Nod controversy to happen."
Kane's critics have not been silenced; indeed, they have begun to grow even more suspicious as Kane's official victory speech was given to an audience of the Brotherhood of Nod's membership in Virginia Beach.

Brotherhood of Nod Influence in Commonwealth at All-Time High - State Government Denies Involvement
Recent revelations by whistleblowers formerly working for the Brotherhood of Nod allege that the Brotherhood serves as Lieutenant Governor Tim Kane's personal guard and intimidation force. Leaker Julia Ricketts has told members of the Washington Post, the Norfolk Virginia-Pilot, and other state newspapers in Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, and other major cities that the Brotherhood leadership had ordered her to engage in voter intimidation in Northern Virginia and the Hampton Roads area in the name of passing a series of sales tax hikes proposed by Governor Warner.
A call to Lieutenant Governor Kane's office in Richmond was answered by a press secretary calling himself Seth, who refused to identify himself further beyond saying he was originally from Loudoun County. Seth stated that he was a liaison from the Governor to the Lieutenant Governor and from there to the press, phrasing it thusly:
"From Warner, to Kane, to Seth."
Seth also stated he was highly ranked within the Brotherhood of Nod but such acts were being committed by radicals not endorsed by Kane. Seth stated that they were "getting in the way of ascension" and therefore in no way beneficial to the goals of Lieutenant Governor Kane.
Nod planes in Iraq (AP)
However, the Brotherhood's actions, mainly but not exclusively in the Commonwealth of Virginia, have become more noticeable in recent months, in many ways related to the ongoing War in Iraq. In the Commonwealth, specifically Northern Virginia and the Hampton Roads area have been assailed by large Brotherhood-sponsored advertising campaigns to vote in favor of the sales tax increase, measures approved in both regions by slim margins. These advertising campaigns have accompanied reports of violence; there have been several cases of anti-tax demonstrators being heckled or assaulted, in one case in Fairfax county one member of a local Republican-affiliated organization was killed in an accident. Nod graffiti was seen in the vicinity, but the local Brotherhood organization denies all involvement.
It is interesting to note that the Brotherhood of Nod has been found operating among the United States Armed Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, with the organization's logo, a scorpion tail within a triangular design, being found painted as graffiti on building walls in major occupied cities. In accordance with the 'Peace Through Power' doctrine espoused by Kane, several troops working for the coalition forces in both countries have operated under their own insignia but under the command of American and international commanders. They are noted to have what appears to be their own command structure and equipment, with Brotherhood flags flying among flag displays of Coalition nations. When most of the Iraqi government was captured earlier this year, Kane remarked to the press that "power shifts more quickly than some people think."
Excerpt from the Washington Post, December 2003
Saddam Hussein Captured by Brotherhood of Nod Troops
Saddam Hussein, President of the deposed government of Iraq, has been captured by soldiers loyal to the Brotherhood of Nod in Ad-Dawr, near Tikrit, Saladin Governorate, at a time when the Brotherhood's influence has grown significantly both in its initial base in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in other states. The commander of the operation, who has gone nameless, has stated that Hussein will be turned in to the Coalition Provisional Authority, the current government in Iraq headquartered in Baghdad and led by L. Paul Bremer, an American diplomat.
News of the capture comes at a time when the Brotherhood of Nod has cemented its influence in Virginia and has since expanded to the District of Columbia, Maryland, New York, Illinois, and California. These organizations have conducted charities and other public services, but also have committed violence against their opponents. Such violence has been decried by Brotherhood leaders, claiming that such acts have been committed by radicals not loyal to the organization. "There is a reason why our slogan is 'Brotherhood, Unity, Peace," said Lieutenant Governor Kane. "We do not espouse such wanton aggression against our opponents."
Brotherhood organizations have tried to associate themselves with local Democratic organizations, with mixed success. Recent polling of members of the Democratic party in those areas show that the Brotherhood only has a forty percent approval rating among them, showing their arrival as part of the Democratic coalition has been tentative. Indeed, certain major Democratic figures have denounced the Brotherhood. Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Terry McAuliffe has said that the Brotherhood must 'cease all violent activities if it wants to be accepted as part of the national liberal mainstream. I do not want my home state of Virginia to have the reputation of a land of violent cronyism." Senate minority whip Harry Reid has warned that the Brotherhood "seems to be very close in mentality to the terrorists that threaten the well-being of the United States."
Calls to Brotherhood organizations have been answered with cryptic statements. A call to Lieutenant Governor Kane, increasingly the apparent national spokesman for the organization, has said, regarding the capture of Hussein, that "the rivers show flow with the blood of the enemies of the Brotherhood and of the United States." Local organizations have only said typical celebratory statements and nothing of any substance.
Nod-affiliated tanks outside Baghdad (Reuters).
Administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority, L. Paul Bremer, has thanked the Brotherhood for handing over Hussein to Coalition authorities. "Without the Brotherhood," Bremer said in a statement, "we would have not ended the invasion as quickly as we did." This statement has added to the fires of conspiracy that have alleged that the Brotherhood has infiltrated the highest echelons of the Coalition forces. Nod flags flying alongside the flags of nations within the Coalition started these rumors, and such remarks do not help assuaging their fears.
Excerpt from the New York Times, 2005 Hero or Madman? No Middle Ground, the Riddle of Kane, and the Brotherhood of NodAny American paying close attention to the political landscape of the nation nowadays must take note of the new political organization rising up to influence federal and state politics: the Brotherhood of Nod, the organization which has been perplexing the national news and analysts since their debut in the government of Virginia in 2001. Their policies have been in many senses liberal, but their penchant for violence is something unseen for many years in this country, rivaling the almost surreal stories of politics in the 19th century predating our nation's civil war, such as the caning of Charles Sumner in the Senate chamber. In Virginia, the state of inception of the Brotherhood's political activity, the organization polarizes many, especially since their apparent leader, Tim Kane, is Lieutenant Governor. In Loudoun County in the north of the state, local store owner Maria Harris does not find the Brotherhood's activities appealing. Harris said that the Brotherhood has been sponsoring violence in her hometown of Waterford, against those who are not seen as sufficiently charitable. "The Brotherhood places quite the emphasis on charity, which is a noble thing, but coercing people to do so by beating them in the streets is simply not the way to do it." Harris emphasized that Brotherhood-affiliated thugs have been using a house near her store as a base of operations, and thusly are killing her business. In the affluent Northern parts of the state near Washington D.C., such as Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Arlington County, and the City of Alexandria, the Brotherhood is reviled, with many clashes with local police have been reported. In Springfield, Fairfax County, several high school students were arrested for spraying a house, owned by a local family of high income, with Brotherhood symbolism (mainly a scorpion tail within a peculiarly-shaped triangular design), and later setting fire to the family's car, a Ferrari. However, in poorer parts of the state, the Brotherhood has been received as a bringer of charity to places once morally bankrupt. John D. Spraggins, a cashier of a low income in Richmond, the state capital, has openly supported the Brotherhood. "Lieutenant Governor Kane has shown he really does care for the poor. The Brotherhood has helped with public works, fighting crime and unemployment, and just generally being a good influence down here. Yes, there are thugs, but they're radicals. Kane doesn't approve of them." Republicans in the state legislature have drafted bills severely curtailing the organization, with backing of several Democrats as well. The Brotherhood, affiliated to some degree with the Democratic Party, have drawn controversy due to the mass violence committed by followers. State Democrats, including Senator Richard L. Saslaw, have denounced the Brotherhood, calling them "radicals. I agree with what Chairman McAuliffe and Senator Reid have said about them: they're tarnishing the name of liberalism everywhere." Such allegations are becoming more heated as Lieutenant Governor Kane is seriously contemplating running for Governor. The Brotherhood's actions in the invasion of Iraq have led to serious questions regarding the exact role of the Brotherhood in Virginian and American politics - the organization has spread along the Eastern seaboard and is making headway in Illinois, California, and in certain parts of Texas and Florida. In response to bills proposing the banning of the Brotherhood, followers have repeated the phrase "you can't outlaw the Messiah," apparently referring to the Lieutenant Governor. Excerpt from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, 2005 Lieutenant Governor Kane Nominated as Democratic Nominee for GovernorIn a nomination process racked by allegations of corruption and cronyism, Lieutenant Governor Tim Kane has been nominated for this year's Democratic candidate for governor in the elections in November. The Brotherhood of Nod, led by Kane and his acolyte Seth, among other major leaders such as Gideon Raveshaw (now a senator for the Richmond area), has erupted in celebration that their leader would be nominated for the highest office in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Kane was nominated as there was no official Democratic challenger that was willing to stand against him. However, more orthodox Democrats have accused the Brotherhood of intimidating potential challengers to the gubernatorial nomination. In the buildup to the gubernatorial primaries, Richard L. Saslaw, a Senator from the 35th district, representing parts of northeastern Fairfax County and the city of Alexandria near Washington, D.C., was mentioned as a potential opponent to Kane. Saslaw has accused the Brotherhood of Nod of being 'corrupt cronies of the level of Boss Tweed.' Such a sentiment has been echoed by several other anti-Nod Democrats in the state and nationwide. However, Saslaw never filled out the paperwork necessary to run for governor with either the state or the Democratic Party. It is known that several Nod-affiliated members of the state Senate and General Assembly brought him into a secluded room in the State Capitol in Richmond and talked with him quite frequently and in often angry tones. Later, Saslaw's home in Fairfax County was vandalized by unknown individuals, with slogans such as 'heretic' and 'charlatan' painted on his house. Local police have searched the area but have not been able to find the perpetrators. Kane's nomination was met with celebration among Brotherhood members. Daniel McLaughlin, a mechanic from Lynchburg, said to the press that 'you just can't not nominate the Messiah. He's just too good not to put up as governor.' Indeed, the habit of deeming Kane a Messiah is now quite common. Records indicate such a practice was started during Kane's tenure as the mayor of Richmond. However, Kane has been very modest about his popularity. His speeches, known to be ostentatious and strident, are nevertheless not bragging. He is perceived as a man of the people of the Commonwealth, loved for the programs that he has enacted to help poorer Virginians both urban and rural. In response to a young Brotherhood member hailing him as a quasi-deity, Kane responded thusly: "If I am cut, do I not bleed? Of course I do. I bleed the same red blood that you do. That is why the Brotherhood flag is red. The blood of all people, no matter their skin tone, is the same. A state with a history such as ours must never forget that. Brotherhood, Unity, Peace." Excerpt from the News and Advance, Lynchburg, Virginia, 2005 Kane to Debate Kilgore, Potts at UVAIn an extremely controversial move, Democratic nominee for Governor and current Lieutenant Governor Tim Kane insisted on letting independent candidate Russ Potts to join in the debates with Republican nominee Jerry Kilgore. This can be seen as incredibly out-of-character for Kane, as he has been previously dismissive of his opposition. It is considered to be a move by Kane to both distance himself politically from the incredibly confrontational Brotherhood of Nod that backs him, as its tendency towards violence has been detrimental to the Lieutenant Governor's image, and to destroy Potts' arguments decisively. Potts' popularity has been growing in both Northern Virginia, with the steadfastly important Fairfax County, and in the heavily populated southeastern portion of the state, with major cities such as Hampton, Virginia Beach, and Norfolk. The Virginia Republican Party has been targeted by Nod-affiliated gangsters who have attacked their offices; this has led to a loss in state Republican Party power, on the rise since the 1980s. The Republican Nominee, Jerry Kilgore, was the nominee for state Attorney General in 2001, losing to A. Donald MacEachin. Kilgore has led the state party in a call to 'show Virginia is truly for lovers, not for hoodlums of the Brotherhood's kind." Kilgore has seen increased spending on advertisements this election, intending to fight harder than the party had in 2001. Virginia, a very conservative state, would normally be the natural place for the Republican Party; however, the populist rhetoric of 'ascension' of the Brotherhood of Nod has swayed many over to the Democratic Party. The independent candidate, Russ Potts, an independent from Winchester, has shown himself to be an interesting third party candidate, unlikely to win but likely to have a significant effect on the election results. Potts considers himself a moderate Republican, comparatively liberal in comparison to Kilgore on abortion and taxes among other issues. Potts has promised Virginia to 'rid Richmond of its cronyism and violence,' in a subtle insult to both Kane and Kilgore. Kane has promised party faithful that he will campaign stronger than his run for Lieutenant Governor; Governor Mark Warner has refused to endorse Kane, also refusing to comment to the press about such issues (it is interesting to note that Warner's home in Alexandria was vandalized shortly thereafter). Brotherhood sources have already committed vast sums of money to the Kane campaign and to the state Democratic committee, and more is forthcoming. When asked about the gubernatorial run, Kane said "I have spent years working towards this. He who controls the past commands the future; He who commands the future, conquers the past. I have controlled the past to command the future, and the future is now. It is time to show that Virginia can truly ascend to glory, that our beloved Old Dominion can rise above its history and become truly great." Shortly thereafter, he yelled to the crowd of onlookers 'Sic Semper Tyrannis," and was met with cheers. Excerpt from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, November 2005 Richmond's Own Victorious: Kane Wins GovernorshipToday, the city of Richmond, the state capital and the hub of Brotherhood of Nod activity, has erupted in celebration. The city's own former mayor and current Lieutenant Governor Tim Kane has won the gubernatorial race. The entire Commonwealth is bursting with joy, and Kilgore and Potts have made their concession speeches. Kane has already given a victory speech here in Richmond, with governor Mark Warner in attendance, looking quite shaken by some event, but overall satisfied. Despite his refusal to endorse his Lieutenant Governor, he has come in to support him. In Kane's speech, he gave a stinging criticism to his opposition whom he had defeated: "Rule of thumb, Kilgore: You can't beat the Messiah in an election." Kane went on to praise his followers, saying that they were the reason the Commonwealth of Virginia would ascend to a state of equality for all of its citizens, rich or poor, black or white or any other origin, immigrant or native-born. Using a Biblical allusion, he quite eloquently summarized his gratitude for their service: "And he cried in a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!' and Lazarus did, arise from the grave... I have always believed that faith was measured in deeds, not words, and did you all commit the greatest of deeds, saving this commonwealth from the forces of corrupt capitalism!" Kane in an official Brotherhood portrait.
Kane has campaigned under the promises of restricting corruption in the state government (to the scoffs of Republicans who criticize his ability to electioneer), providing better services to the poor of the state, especially in urban areas. Thusly, his support of lower-income voters, especially immigrants in Northern Virginia, have won him favor in the form of an election won by an even higher margin than outgoing governor Mark Warner did.

Excerpt from the Washington Post, 2006 Kane gives Democratic Rebuttal to Bush's State of the UnionLast night in the Virginia Governor's Mansion, newly elected governor of Virginia Tim Kane has given, in conjunction with mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa, the Democratic rebuttal to President George W. Bush's State of the Union address. In his address, Kane attracted immediate controversy for his selection to the post, as several highly ranked Democratic politicians and other figures, such as Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Terry McAuliffe. Kane was also held to be increasingly hostile towards the Bush administration, and his arguments were piercing and possible breaches of basic etiquette. The most controversial piece of rhetoric Kane employed was the following: "Your powerful Republican Party has been emasculated, and you yourself are a killer of children. You have consigned millions of children to lives of drudgery with your 'education' law. You shackle this nation's children with your own debts." This portion of his speech was met with opposition even among the Democratic Party, with many mainstream Democrats calling his rhetoric belligerent or worse. President Bush has responded that 'no matter how much we disagree, I have never once made the accusation that my opponents were baby killers' (cynical liberal-leaning commentators have stated that his allies have indeed used that label to abortion activists). Some have questioned the wisdom of making Kane the keynote speaker, but the Brotherhood of Nod, now with branches in every major city in the country, has been unanimous in its support. "We fight for Nod!" was heard several times in his audience of the speech when he gave it, and similar cries were heard in several cities in mass rallies for the Governor-cum-faction leader. In his address, Kane called for a less intrusive federal education law, and cited the bipartisanship that crafted said laws in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Bipartisanship was indeed a major theme in the address, in which Kane accused the Republican Party and President Bush in particular that they were doing poorly in promoting bipartisanship nationwide. Commentators have noted the apparent violence that the Brotherhood of Nod uses to enforce 'bipartisanship,' which has been alleged to be little more than coercion. Kane denies these ties, and announced that such comments were 'slander.' "I support an agenda of Brotherhood, Unity, and Peace. It would be hypocritical of me, hypocritical of the Brotherhood, hypocritical of the hardworking men and women that make up the Brotherhood, to do so. By doing so, you [his critics] insult millions." Excerpt from the Free-Lance Star, Fredericksburg, March 2006 Governor Kane calls for Extended Session of State Legislature to Resolve Budget Conflicts"Yesterday, Governor Tim Kane has announced that the Virginia Legislature has been unable to come up with a budget for the year of 2006. Despite Kane's impressive showing in the Gubernatorial elections last year, the Republican Party has made significant legislative gains, and as such now has slim majorities in both the House of Delegates and the Senate. Kane announced, in a press conference in Richmond, that the legislative session will be extended to June to continue debate and hopefully pass a budget for this year. Hours after this announcement, vehicles bearing Brotherhood of Nod insignia were spotted near the State Capitol in Richmond. Reporters inquiring of their presence responded "we fight for Nod!" until a commanding officer said they were working 'security' so that the session will be held under a secure environment, 'free from violence that may disrupt our Commonwealth from ascending into a new era of peace and of justice." Among the issues promoted by Kane for the new budget are increased spending on state welfare programs (heavily developed under his predecessor, Governor Mark Warner), increased environmental conservation, and increased spending on better education. To the criticism of Republicans, most new schools constructed with state funds have had Kane's famous 'Hand of Nod' sculpture design atop them, a hand grasping a globe. Brotherhood rationale dictates that this represents the mantra that 'we are going to have to act if we want to live in a different world." Kane's critics have questioned the need for additional security for the extended session, with various Republican members of the legislature denouncing it has 'cronyism' and deemed it equivalent to hiring private mercenaries when one does not want to be involved in a war, making it a proxy war. Even more suspicious is the presence of heavily armed vehicles, apparently originally from the state National Guard, being used by the Brotherhood as part of said security, as they bear Nod insignia. Kane has refused to comment on the matter, saying it is 'what is necessary to ensure peace.' Nod armored vehicle in Richmond a few blocks from the State Capitol.
Excerpt from the Coalfield Progress, Wise County, Virginia, 2007 Governor Kane Approves Construction of New Coal Plant in Wise CountyEarly yesterday morning, Governor of Virginia Tim Kane approved the construction of a new coal-fired power plant in our very own Wise County. Breaking with his party, Kane authorized der the construction of the plant despite environmentalist objections. Built by Dominion Virginia Power, a noted pro-Brotherhood of Nod company and the dominant supplier of energy in the Commonwealth, the plant is projected to supply several hundred, if not more than a thousand, jobs to Wise County and the surrounding area. Describing the plant as the 'Technology of Peace," and part of a governmental initiative of the same name, the plant is designed to boost the economy of the region while providing power to the rest of the state as well as adjacent areas of West Virginia and Kentucky. The Technology of Peace Initiative is intended to develop Virginian infrastructure and boost job creation throughout the state. Artist's rendition of the power plant. Opposition has come from many state Democrats of the same party as Kane, but many of them loyal to the Brotherhood of Nod have supported it. This initiative has come with support from Republicans in both the state Senate and in the House of Delegates. Senate Majority Leader Walter Stosch has applauded the plan, saying that "Governor Kane has done something good for the state for a change. If this project continues, and hopefully it will, it will do great things for the state. If this is the case, long live the Technology of Peace!" Excerpt from the Washington Post, 2007 The Scorpion of the Old Dominion: Virginia Governor Kane Proposed as 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominee Kane in a press conference in the Virginia Governor's Mansion in Richmond.Ever since his tenure as mayor of Richmond, Virginia, the capital of the mother of Presidents, Governor Tim Kane has exuded a calm, cold collectedness that has wooed many to his cause and repulsed many more. His organization, the Brotherhood of Nod, stands ready to serve him; they are a significant political force in Virginia and have notable presences in the nation's big cities. Since they are affiliated with the state Democratic Party, it is speculated that Virginia could become a Democratic state once again, after some decades being a Republican stronghold. However, the Brotherhood of Nod disagrees in many ways with the mainstream Democratic base; they are very pro-infrastructure, pro-capital punishment, and pro-military, but in other ways they concur with the Democratic Party on a national level, being pro-welfare, pro-public education funding, and other matters of the sort. They have been compared to a resurgent Blue Dog movement in that regard, and congressional blue dogs have spoken in favor of them. It is due to this significant following that Kane has amassed, promoting a fairly liberal but not excessively so agenda, that has led speculation that he may run for the Democratic nomination in 2008. Kane has quite spectacularly criticized the policies of the Republican Party regarding welfare, immigration, education, and healthcare, most notably in his delivery of the 2006 Democratic rebuttal to the State of the Union address. However, allegations of violence throughout Virginia in the name of the Brotherhood of Nod has tarnished his reputation. Brotherhood sources have been fervently denying such possibilities for the last several years, saying they are at best the work of extremists and at worst designed to discredit the Brotherhood, be they by the Republican Party or by other Democrats. Kane has said on the matter, and on Democratic opposition to the Brotherhood in general: "The party should re-examine what I and the Brotherhood have done for society's benefit. They must agree the historical results have been unique. Yet, the Party does not want to believe in me, but the time will come when they must. The Brotherhood is free, strong, great, and united." Excerpt from the Daily Press, Hampton, 2007 Kane talks Presidential Run in RichmondRICHMOND: In a press conference yesterday, Governor of Virginia Tim Kane was asked by a volley of reporters about his plans for the future, including the speculated Presidential run for next year on the Democratic ticket. Kane gave no certain answers to the questions, but said that 'it is definitely possible.' Kane is, in some ways, considered too politically inexperienced for the Presidency; he has been only in political office since 1998 with his election as the Mayor of Richmond. However, his following in the Brotherhood of Nod in the state, and in other parts of the country, has catapulted him to national importance. His followers maintain that 'you can't not elect the Messiah,' and have done so since his time as the mayor of Richmond, continuing to use the slogan in his electoral campaigns. Kane has described his plans for Virginia, and now potentially the nation, as having 'one vision and one purpose: the ascension of Virginia to a state of peace and justice for all.' His 'technology of peace' initiatives have built railways, power plants, and factories throughout the state, at odds with many state Democrats, but has insisted on heavy regulation and taxation to ensure that any negative externalities produced by these investments is negated or minimized. Socially, he is also quite liberal, voicing support for abortion rights and for the rights of LGBT people. "My slogan is 'Brotherhood, Unity, Peace,'" he has said, adding that "promoting hate between people is the exact opposite of Brotherhood, shatters Unity, and leads to something less desirable than Peace. To oppose such measures for equality would be a grand hypocrisy on my part." When inquired specifically about a presidential run, Kane replied that "He who controls the past commands the future. He who commands the future conquers the past," a phrase he has used before. Kane elaborated that "I am creating a past with which to command the future; having myself in the White House seems like a future worth commanding." Such remarks have been widely interpreted as evidence of a burgeoning Presidential campaign. Kane has refused to comment any further, saying that "my current obligation is to the Commonwealth of Virginia. I will deal with Virginian affairs first and foremost." Excerpt from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, 2007 One Vision and One Purpose: Kane Announces White House Bid RICHMOND: Today at the Governor's Mansion, Governor of Virginia Tim Kane, Richmond's own beloved son, declared that he would campaign for the Democratic Party's nomination to the office of President of the United States. This comes at a time when his organization, the Brotherhood of Nod, has become renowned at the national level. In New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Detroit, the Brotherhood has spread, and these local organizations are now celebrating his announcement. In his speech to cheering crowds, many with Brotherhood insignia with them on signs or on clothing, Kane announced that "Today is the day I say America, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, must march forward together with One Vision and One Purpose, to make sure this nation is no longer beset by endless wars, no matter how noble their intentions, and build a nation that is the beacon of hope and equality for the entirety of humanity." Kane at the Governor's Mansion announcing his candidacy.
These remarks were met with an eruption of "Kane is the Messiah!" The casting of the Governor, now Presidential candidate, as a messianic figure has brought great scrutiny to the Brotherhood, but its membership believes that it he is truly something special in that regard. When asked about these beliefs, Kane replied "Who am I to disturb their faith?" Republicans in the legislative assembly have called this hero worship, but Brotherhood members of the body, now the majority, have denounced them as making blinded accusations. By going up into the Democratic nominee competition, he faces, among others, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, Senator Hillary Clinton of New York, former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina, Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico, Representative Denis Kucinich of Ohio, Senator Joe Biden of Delaware, Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska, and Senator Christopher Dodd of Connecticut. This race will be tough for Kane, as Obama and Clinton are the major frontrunners. Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean has expressed his dislike of the Brotherhood of Nod, and this is likely to have a significant amount of influence among the party. Excerpt from the Daily Progress, Charlottesville, January 2008 Kane to Debate Obama, Clinton, Edwards, Others at UVAIn a move that has caused some suspect cronyism, the first major debate between prospective candidates for the Democratic nomination for President in 2008 will be held at the University of Virginia here in Charlottesville. Governor Tim Kane, a recent addition to the candidate field, is popular in Charlottesville and indeed in Virginia. Backers of other candidates have contended that Kane's campaign staff, run by his longtime campaign manager Seth (other names of his are unknown), rigged the selection process via bribes or other methods to have this debate be on turf favorable to Kane. The University of Virginia is notable among residents of this state for being the place where Kane debated Republican candidate Jerry Kilgore and Independent candidate Russ Potts during the 2005 gubernatorial election season, where he is widely seen to have persuaded the majority of the Virginian electorate to vote for him. The young population of Charlottesville, mainly those who are affiliated in some manner with the University of Virginia, are very favorable towards Kane, and is likely to be reflected in the candidate debates. Nod-affiliated vehicle in Charlottesville used by the local Brotherhood organization for transportation of goods and people. Nod sympathizers are quite influential in local government and the local electorate. Especially controversial is the possible choice of moderator. Most of the staff at UVA is sympathetic to the Brotherhood and hence possibly has a conflict of interest if a favored candidate, in this case Governor Kane, is among the debaters. Excerpt from the Washington Post, 2007 US General Denounces Brotherhood After Massacre
Early yesterday morning, a strike force under the command of the Brotherhood of Nod attacked a village outside Baghdad under the suspicion that it was housing al-Qaeda operatives. The local Brotherhood commander by the name of Anton Slavik, has denied all wrongdoing, saying that such an attack was approved by Iraqi authorities. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has denied giving any such orders, saying that the Brotherhood has "Clearly overstepped its limits by slaughtering innocent civilians." The current commander of Coalition forces in Iraq, General Mark Jamison Sheppard, has sternly denounced the Brotherhood of Nod in a press conference held in the Iraqi capital, near their national assembly building, along with Prime Minister al-Maliki. General Sheppard, appointed by President George W. Bush to lead the Coalition forces in Iraq after General George W. Casey's elevation to Army Chief of Staff, is a noted conservative military figure and critic of letting the Brotherhood of Nod into the Coalition. General Mark Jamison Sheppard in a press conference in Baghdad (Reuters).General Sheppard, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has repeatedly called the Brotherhood "traitors to the legacy of the founders of this nation and to the Constitution that governs it." Sheppard, a longtime conservative and now budding Republican icon, has said that the Brotherhood is "undermining the security of the international force in Iraq, threatening to send it spiraling into anarchy and chaos." In the conference, Sheppard cautioned the country about Virginia Governor Tim Kane, the de facto leader of the Brotherhood of Nod, and his current bid for the Democratic nomination for the Presidency in the elections of 2008. "Should Kane be nominated for the Presidency, there will arise the necessity for a new conservative initiative to bring this country back to its roots." General Sheppard's comments, clearly of an overtly political nature, have drawn fire from many, both Republicans and Democrats. President Bush has apologized directly for Sheppard's rhetoric. Excerpt from the Daily Progress, Charlottesville, December 2007 Kane Wins UVA Debate; Iowa, New Hampshire Up NextYesterday at the University of Virginia, Governor of Virginia Tim Kane has been said to have decisively won the debate between several potential Democratic nominees for the President of the United States in 2008. Kane, a child of the Old Dominion, has seriously reset the playing field of the nomination campaign. Governor Kane at the University of Virginia.
In a debate with potential nominees Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Denis Kucinich, and Joe Biden, Kane stressed the necessity of the usage of the 'technology of peace' to increase domestic infrastructure and domestic employment. "The Democratic Party," Kane stated, "is too hostile to business and industry nowadays. Being from a conservative state dependent in many ways on coal mining and coal power plants, this is of the utmost necessity. We cannot and will not cede this important issue to the Republicans." Kane, despite his apparently Blue Dog tendencies, has called for the promotion of several traditionally progressive policies, such as increased business taxes, increased welfare spending, increased education spending (Kane cited the stellar educational systems of counties in Northern Virginia in his speech), and withdrawal from Iraq. When questioned about recent events regarding the Brotherhood of Nod and its actions in Iraq, Kane replied that "our time there is finished. It is time to bring these heroes home." Excerpt from the Washington Post, January 2008 Kane, Huckabee Frontrunners for Presidential Race, Win in New HampshireMANCHESTER - Last night, polling for both the Republican and Democratic primaries reported on the frontrunners for their respective parties' nominations for the presidency in November of this year. Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee won the Republican vote in New Hampshire, while Governor of Virginia Tim Kane won the Democratic vote. Huckabee, a renowned fiscal and social conservative among the Republican Party and a challenger to other big-name members of the Party, such as former governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney and current Senator from Arizona John McCain. Kane, the leader of the Brotherhood of Nod, a current populist strain of the Democratic Party, has triumphed over Senator from Illinois Barack Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton of New York. The rise of Huckabee in particular has left political commentators surprised, as either Romney or McCain was expected to gain the nomination. Huckabee has focused his attacks on the Brotherhood of Nod in particular, a strategy that has worked. Obama and Clinton have both been beneficiaries of Brotherhood of Nod funds beforehand, and Kane is their leader, hence the apparent widespread amount of Brotherhood influence in the party. The Brotherhood's hardline stances on increased welfare and other entitlement spending, abortion rights, marriage rights, progressive taxes, and gun regulations, among other issues, have led conservatives to deem them, in Huckabee's words, "the greatest threat to the Constitution of this nation it has ever seen." The Brotherhood of Nod, while popular in cities and in the State of Virginia, is deeply unpopular in the south and other conservative states, while met with appreciation on one extreme and reviled on the other in liberal parts of the country. The Brotherhood's emphasis on the military and their continued support for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have cost them support among many liberal voters. Huckabee's rhetoric has focused on denouncing the Democratic Party as being controlled by the Brotherhood of Nod, which Huckabee has called "a threat to the very threads that underlie the American nation and put us under a tyrannical welfare state in which the rights of man are no more and where faith is persecuted." The refusal of Romney and McCain to use similar rhetoric has hurt them; in fact, they are being accused of sympathizing with the Brotherhood by Huckabee's supporters, as Romney ordered a Massachusetts Supreme Court decision to legalize homosexual marriage in the state, backed by the Brotherhood, and McCain's continued compromises with Brotherhood-backed members of Congress. Excerpt from the New York Times, February 8 General Mark Jamison Sheppard Endorses Huckabee for Presidential RaceBAGHDHAD: General Mark Jamison Sheppard, the Commander of the Coalition forces in Iraq, has formally endorsed Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas, as the Republican nominee for the Presidency. In an interview with the press on a military base in Baghdad, Sheppard has become the only major military figure in the country to comment on the upcoming race for the White House, a shocking statement in that such is normally heavily discouraged in the armed forces. In his speech, Sheppard called Huckabee "a good man," continuing to describe him as the most authentic conservative that is running for the presidency. Additionally, Sheppard blasted the other candidates for the race as "closet liberals that just want to win." He denounced John McCain as the "worst of the RINOS" and Mitt Romney as a "vulture capitalist who wants big government when it suits him." Sheppard went on to detail the importance of a Republican victory this November. "The White House and Congress are now controlled by liberals. Many of these liberals belong to the Brotherhood of Nod, which is run by Governor Tim Kane of Virginia. Kane is in every regard the very opposite of what the founders of this nation stood for, the very evil the Constitution of these United States were intended to counter." Sheppard has in the past made several comments of a political nature, which have drawn controversy from both home and abroad. He has stated that the attempts to legalize same-sex marriage were 'approval of sodomy,' expansion of abortion rights as 'baby-murdering,' and the expansion of welfare as 'breeding more sucklings on the American nation," and referred to gun control legislation 'an attempt to establish tyranny in this great nation.' He has gone on to denounce even President George W. Bush and his administration as liberal, saying that 'he [Bush] is a pawn of Wall Street and does not in any way represent the good conservative folk of this country.' During the conference, Sheppard said that, if Governor Kane of Virginia wins the Presidential election, he would personally return to the United States, resigning his position as commander of Coalition forces, and start a new Conservative movement dedicated to reorganizing the state of American politics. "It is high time that this country needs a conservative renaissance. From Maine to California, from Alaska to Florida, from Hawaii, to Texas, we need to bring this country back to its roots. If Kane wins, it shows that the United States will be on the highway to despotism, and we had damn well better prevent it from happening." Excerpt from the Washington Post, March 2008 Kane Takes Lead for Democratic NominationClinton drops candidacy, Obama weakenedNEW YORK - Hillary Rodham Clinton, senator from New York and former prospective nominee for the Democratic candidate for president in November, has formally suspended her campaign operations. In a press conference in New York City, Clinton said that "the time has come to suspend all campaign activities. We cannot win at this point. Either Obama or Kane is going to secure the nomination, and I will fight to make sure that a Democrat, be it Obama or Kane, will take the White House. We cannot have four more years of what we have now." Clinton's announcement comes as a shock, as Clinton had been doing decently well during the primaries and caucuses throughout the states, polling first in New York and Arkansas, second in Pennsylvania, third in Iowa, and third in New Hampshire. Several analysts have predicted Clinton's eventual defeat, but expected her cessation of campaign activities to be delayed until at least May or June. She follows the line of several other candidates for the nomination, such as the now suspended candidacies of John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Christopher Dodd, and Mike Gravel, among others. Senator Obama now has apparently come to the realization that his campaign has also been weakened. Recent polling of Democrats indicates that 54% registered members of the party prefer Governor Kane for the nomination, while 40% favor Obama, which, while more than when he was in competition with Clinton for the nomination, still indicates a definite preference for Kane. Obama, in a speech in Chicago, has said that "Hope still lives on even in the face of adversity. America is strong, and in strength we can receive this nomination." However, Kane has been very critical of Obama's record. In a speech in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with local Democratic Party officials, Kane said that "Obama is a charlatan with very little relevant political experience. He is a community organizer, fit only for jobs of that stature on a local level. It is a disgrace to our party, to progress, that he be even considered for the nomination for president." Kane has capitalized on this success, starting a new social media campaign and rolling out new logos and slogans, in addition to other methods. These new efforts, the latter ones falling in the 'other' category in particular, have succeeded in drawing in millions of people, including many young Americans. One of the more peculiar modes of advertisement is what has been termed the Kane Dance, originating in a YouTube video of the candidate dancing a simple dance, consisting mostly of arm movements and brief steps, to a 90s-style techno track in which the defining feature is the chorus of 'No Mercy!' followed by 'Mercy is for the weak.' This dance and song, the latter of which references the ideology of the Brotherhood of Nod, has grown wildly popular among young Americans. Kane has, in several campaign events in universities and high schools, danced the dance to the iconic soundtrack, first at the University of Virginia and then at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, after which it spread like wildfire. Another interesting piece of Kane's campaigning is what has been deemed the Nod Ring. The Nod Ring is a ring made out of metal common to rings with the insignia of the Brotherhood of Nod emblazoned on it, with the inscription 'Brotherhood, Unity, Peace" on the inside. Nod Rings have become common as ways of showing support of Kane's campaign, with even children wearing them (although no doubt given them by their parents). Nod Rings have become so popular to give out at Kane's rallies that he is suspected of taking them from predetermined shipments to local offices and redirecting them to his rallies. Kane tacitly admitted some sort of involvement in a conversation with Jackson Murphy, a local party from North Carolina. Murphy, on videotape, inquired "Did you steal my Nod Rings?" to Kane, to which he promptly replied, "I didn't steal the Nod Rings, I swear to you! This is the truth: I meant to steal the Nod Rings. I had meant to steal the Nod Rings. There were two shipments, and I had planned to steal one of the shipments of Nod Rings, and before I could steal the Nod Rings, somebody stole the Nod Rings! And it wasn't me, I swear." Excerpt from the Los Angeles Times, May 2008 Obama Suspends Campaign: Kane All But Confirmed as Democratic NomineeCHICAGO - Illinois Senator Barack Obama has just suspended his efforts to secure the Democratic nomination for the Presidential elections this coming November. In a speech to his supporters in his hometown of Chicago, Obama declared that "it has been a long fight, but we have to concede that the opposition has won. It is best for all of us that we throw in our support with the Governor of Virginia to prevent four more years of what Bush brought us." Obama's withdrawal from the race has marked Virginia Governor Tim Kane as all but formally become the Democratic Nominee for President. Governor Kane has rallied his supporters around the Brotherhood of Nod, and indeed several members of Congress have thrown in their lot with the Brotherhood, as have millions of Americans. In a speech to his faithful in Dallas, Texas, he said: "It is, as I foresaw it. The faithful of Nod and the true lovers of America have now come to take this nation to ascend from its history of bigotry and inequality, to rise up and give America a new birth of freedom! Americans, rejoice! Americans, celebrate! We will ascend together!" As Kane's opponents have dropped out of the race, speculation has run rampant almost immediately over Kane's possible choices for a running mate. Several have proposed Hillary Clinton run, due to her longstanding affiliations with the Democratic Party and widespread popularity throughout the country. Others have offered Barack Obama to run, his burgeoning popularity among the growing minority groups in the United States due to his status as one of the most well-known African-American statesmen in the country as a potential running mate to capture the coveted African-American and Hispanic communities. The latter in particular is crucial for support as forty percent of the Hispanic voting population voted for Bush in 2004. Mark Jamison Sheppard, the outspoken Conservative spokesman and the head of Coalition forces in Iraq, has gone into polemics about how he feels about Kane. To Sheppard, Kane is the epitome of what he dubs the 'triumph of socialism and the welfare state.' Sheppard has made statements in press conferences and on social media releases that he may contemplate resigning his commission in the military and return to the United States and aid Mike Huckabee, the prospective Republican nominee, to win the election. Excerpt from the Boston Globe, June 2008 Sheppard Resigns Commission, Returns to United StatesLITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS - Yesterday morning, General Mark Jamison Sheppard resigned his commission in the US Army as the commander of coalition forces in Iraq, and boarded a plane from Kabul to Los Angeles, from which he went to Houston and then Little Rock, Arkansas, with the expressed intent to meet with Republican frontrunner for the Presidential race Mike Huckabee. In an interview with the press shortly after his resignation, Sheppard elaborated that "the situation is simply too drastic back home," referring to how Tim Kane, governor of Virginia, has become the undisputable frontrunner in the Democratic race for their presidential nominee. Sheppard, a burgeoning conservative figure of high importance, has spoken out against the Brotherhood of Nod, the faction of the Democratic party that Kane leads. When asked to detail why he thought the domestic situation was 'drastic,' Sheppard stated that "I [Sheppard] feel that Kane is hell-bent on destroying the foundation that this country was founded on: small government, family, and personal liberty. He is running roughshod over the principles behind the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, and has made it clear, with his rhetoric of unrestricted abortion, gun confiscation, and the abolition of traditional marriage, that he intends to completely and utterly bypass this nation's founding document. He must be stopped at all costs." Sheppard's arrival in Little Rock has given rise to theories that Huckabee might select Sheppard as his prospective Vice President for the upcoming presidential race. Compared to other possible running mates, such as John McCain of Arizona or Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Sheppard is incredibly popular among several portions of the Republican base that are skeptical of the conservatism of the former two, while Sheppard is an undisputable conservative, the first of a new breed of Republican that is against the big-business positions of many current politicians of that party. In Iraq, it is unknown who will take Sheppard's place as commander. It has been suspected that Anton Slavik, the commander of Nod forces in Iraq and a very secretive figure, may attempt to gain the position, but he has refused to respond to interviews. However, it is known that he and Sheppard disagreed vehemently on several issues regarding the treatment of occupied Iraq. Governor Kane, who is known to have spoken positively about Slavik, has also refused to take questions, as has Kane's press secretary Seth. Excerpt from the Chicago Tribune, June 2008 Kane Picks Obama as Running MateCLEVELAND, OHIO - Yesterday, in a speech in Cleveland, Ohio, prospective Democratic nominee for President Tim Kane, current Governor of Virginia, chose Illinois Senator Barack Obama, a previous contender for the Democratic nomination and a child of our own Chicago, as his running mate for the office of Vice President. In the speech, Kane spoke of the necessity to 'unite the multiple wings of the Democratic Party into one coherent force,' free of the division between the factions of supporters of Kane, Obama, and Hillary Rodham Clinton, Senator from New York. There was a strong undercurrent of the importance of preventing a Republican win this November, something that already seems unlikely due to the widespread unpopularity of current President George W. Bush. Kane went on to state that the Democratic Party needed 'one vision and one purpose' to take on the Republicans this November. Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee is quite popular in the South and the rural Midwest and Rockies, and is also looking to capture key swing states such as Ohio, and various states in the Southwest. Huckabee has not yet picked a running mate, but the recently resigned Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq, General Mark Jamison Sheppard, appears to be in the running as he has landed in Little Rock, Arkansas, to talk with Huckabee. It is interesting to note that Senator Obama has now adopted many key tenets of the Brotherhood of Nod's ideology that run contrary to the beliefs of other portions of the Democratic Party, mainly the large support for military action, and the continuation of the War in Afghanistan (but not Iraq). Indeed, during the event in Cleveland, Obama was seen wearing Brotherhood regalia, complete with a necklace with the logo of the Black Hand, a branch of the Brotherhood led by former Richmond Police Chief Gideon Raveshaw. Obama at the event in Cleveland (AP)Hillary Clinton endorse Kane shortly after he named Obama as his running mate, and many other former Democratic nominees followed suit, including among their ranks John Edwards and Dennis Kucinich. The Democratic base has been generally receptive to Kane, excepting those who were committed to the more pacifistic beliefs of other candidates. Excerpt from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Little Rock, Arkansas, June 2008 Huckabee chooses Sheppard as Running Mate OKLAHOMA CITY - Yesterday, Former Governor of Arkansas and current Republican nominee for President of the United States, Mike Huckabee, chose former General and commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq Mark Jamison Sheppard, in the latter's hometown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sheppard, a recent conservative icon widely gaining traction among the Republican base for his staunch opposition to the Brotherhood of Nod, the populist faction of the Democratic Party led by Governor of Virginia Tim Kane. With Huckabee's choice of Sheppard as his running mate, the contest between pro-business candidates and hardcore conservatives has been decisively won by the conservatives, consisting mostly of Southern Evangelicals and their ideological allies. Business and moderate candidates, such as Senator from Arizona John McCain and former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney have both suspended their campaigns, having done so during primary and caucus season, leaving Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister and something of a conservative icon himself, the nominee. Sheppard has made many outspoken statements condemning the current Democratic Party as a party of "those who oppose the Christian foundation of this Union," and has made many enemies across the country in doing so. He has criticized the Darwinian theory of evolution as 'of doubtful full validity,' the expansion of abortion rights as 'a second Holocaust,' the extension of the rights of marriage to same-sex couples as 'barbaric, leading to the same depravity that brought about the fall of Rome,' and any liberalization of immigration and welfare laws as 'increasing the amount of sucklings on the bosom of America.' When asked about that final comment, Sheppard replied that 'there are too many pigs for the tit,' quoting an Abraham Lincoln saying regarding being bombarded by office-seekers, which carries the undertone of a possible belief that welfare-seekers do so with no intention of finding further employment. Sheppard's most virulent criticism, however, has gone to the Brotherhood of Nod. At the ceremony in Oklahoma City, Sheppard said that "this country, in November, has a choice: between God and Satan. The Republican Party is the Party of God. We support Christ, we support Faith, we support Family, we support Life. The Democratic Party is the Party of Satan. They support the Devil, they support the destruction of Faith, they support the dissolution of Family, and they support Death. The choice is yours, America. Don't let this country fall into the grip of Satan." Huckabee made statements supporting Sheppard during the ceremony, and was generally received by the conservative crowd. Conservative groups nationwide have declared themselves supporters of Huckabee and Sheppard, and the remaining candidates for the Republican nomination have done so as well. In accordance with Sheppard's slogan of 'Retaking America for the American people,' the emblem of a pouncing eagle has become a symbol of the Republican fight for the White House this year. Polls have ranked the pairing of Huckabee and Sheppard quite highly in conservative areas, especially in their home states of Arkansas and Oklahoma, respectively. Excerpt from the New York Times, June 2008 New York Congressman Endorses KaneQUEENS - Today, in a press conference held outside his office in the Queens borough of the city, Representative of New York's 6th Congressional District Farouk Hassan has officially endorsed the almost-official Democratic nominees for President and Vice President, Governor of Virginia Tim Kane and Senator from Illinois Barack Obama, respectively, for their run for the White House this November. This comes as no surprise to the majority of his constituents, as Hassan is a longtime member of the Brotherhood of Nod, having introduced the city to the organization with his run for Congress in 2006. Hassan, previously a veteran of Afghanistan, has agreed vocally with the policies enacted by Kane during his time as Governor, and has recently been appointed leader of the Brotherhood of Nod Caucus in Congress, leading other members of congress such as Alexa Kovacs of Chicago, Kilian Qatar of Los Angeles, Carlos Mendoza of Phoenix, Cesar Vega of Houston, and many others. If, as projected by many, the Brotherhood of Nod takes a significant amount of seats in the House of Representatives along with other Democrats, Hassan could very well become Speaker of the House. Many Brotherhood-affiliated members of Congress have endorsed this possibility, despite Hassan's lack of seniority in the House, showing the large amount of popularity he has obtained. The current Speaker of the House, Democrat Nancy Pelosi of California, has expressed reluctance to comment on Hassan's popularity, but sources close to her have stated that she may consider stepping down if such an increased majority is gained. Representative Hassan speaking to the press, dressed in his military uniform as a sign of patriotism.Hassan's official endorsement of Kane now stands to influence large amounts of the minority population in New York City and indeed the country into voting for Kane, serving a similar purpose to Kane's choice of Barack Obama as his running mate, the first African-American nominated for such a high office in American history. Hassan, the son of immigrants from Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War, is incredibly popular among the minority residents of his constituency. Excerpt from the Denver Post, August 2008 Democratic National Convention Chooses Kane, Obama as NomineesDENVER - The Democratic National Committee, meeting here in Denver's Pepsi Center, has just officially nominated Governor of Virginia Tim Kane and Senator from Illinois Barack Obama as the official nominees for the Democratic Party's candidates for President and Vice President of the United States of America. A vast majority of delegates for the position voted for the two of them, including those who supported Obama's abortive bid for the presidency and those who supported Senator from New York Hillary Clinton, wife of former president Bill Clinton, who also had a bid. This nomination of the two candidates has been fraught with controversy, as many in the Democratic Party, including former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Terry McAuliffe, have criticized Kane as being too militaristic, too aggressive, and too prone to alienating those of more pacifistic tendencies. Many leaders of the Democratic Party in Congress, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, have also spoken out against Kane and his agenda. Nevertheless, the majority of the Democratic Party has come out in support of Kane and Obama, and many expect them to win the presidency against former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee and former Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq Mark Jamison Sheppard. Hillary Clinton spoke at the convention, saying that "We [the Democratic Party] must come together to support Mr. Kane and Mr. Obama, no matter our previous animosities." In his acceptance speech, Kane spoke for the need of "government that serves all Americans, not just the rich. An armed forces that fights for justice, not for oil. An economy that gives all Americans, not just those that the Republican Party wants to give, the right to work hard and to prosper. An America that is the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, not a land of corporate dictatorship. Friends, the American Sun has risen, and it shall be with the guiding hand of the Democratic Party and the Brotherhood of Nod!" After this speech, the crowd cheered ecstatically, applauding their candidate who they hope will gain the White House. Some minor controversy has erupted when the anti-abortion group American Right to Life Action (ARLA) created a sign on the Table Mountain Range outside of the city, in view of the convention, saying that the Democratic National Convention 'Destroys Unborn Children.' ARLA's sign on Table Mountain. This sign was in existence for some time until it was set ablaze by unknown assailants. Kane's critics have alleged that the Brotherhood of Nod undertook such an action, but all Nod officials at the convention denied any involvement. Excerpt from the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, Saint Paul, Minnesota, August 2008 Republican National Convention held in St. Paul, Huckabee and Sheppard Formally NominatedSAINT PAUL - Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee and former Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq Mark Jamison Sheppard have been formally nominated as the Republican Party's nominees for President and Vice President, respectively, for the office of President of the United States come the elections in November in the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul. In this speech, Huckabee spoke of "the need for a new America, one in tune with its biblical foundations," echoing the common undertone in their campaign that the current state of affairs in American politics is one not sufficiently based in Christian values. On a similar note, the speech by Sheppard was of similar quality but of significant more vitriol; Sheppard spoke of the "Satanic influence threatening to destroy the constitution and the liberty of this Republic, something every good American and good Christian loves." Sheppard's verboseness and outspokenness are thought by conservatives to be a great benefit and by liberals as a great impediment. Political satirist Jon Stewart has called Sheppard a 'Loudmouth,' among other epithets, statements echoed by various other liberal commentators. This comes at a time when the election in November is widely expected to be highly contended, as the Democratic Party's nomination of Governor of Virginia Tim Kane and Senator of Illinois Barack Obama is seen by many to be a strong pair for the election. Advertising by Huckabee and Sheppard paints the two as inexperienced newcomers to the political arena, which is contrasted with Huckabee's service as Governor of Arkansas and Sheppard's experience in Iraq, in comparison with Kane's few years as Virginia governor and Obama's few years spent in the Senate. The crowds in the Xcel Energy Center filled with Huckabee and Sheppard's party faithful. At the convention, former candidates for the Republican nomination John McCain, Senator from Arizona, and former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney, among others, came out in support of Huckabee and Sheppard. Also present were speeches by current President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, the former of whom said that "Huckabee will lead this country into the future it needs and deserves. You have made the right choice." Excerpt from the Clarion-Ledger, Jackson, Mississippi, September 2008 Kane, Huckabee Debate at University of MississippiMost Say Kane Emerged VictoriousOXFORD, MS - Last night, Democratic nominee for president Tim Kane and Republican nominee for president Mike Huckabee debated at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, moderated by the MSNBC journalist Greg Burdette. The topics on the debate focused mainly on the current financial crisis, with some discussion of the current deployment of American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Kane had a decided edge in the debate, while Huckabee appeared to be either confused or ignorant of the issues at hand. On the financial crisis, Kane's economic policy was decidedly in favor of the usage of government spending in averting the crisis in true Keynesian fashion, citing the programs of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his New Deal during the Great Depression. Kane went on to cite various statistics and also possessed a well-articulated understanding of economics, saying that "this country is currently undergoing what we call a recessionary gap, brought by a decrease in aggregate demand. In order to increase demand, one of its components, government spending, must be increased. Therefore, Congress needs to understand that we need to begin some serious investment in the economy, building infrastructure throughout the country to bring us back to our feet. For me, ascension is real, and we can reach it if we can harness the innate power of the government to empower the American economy." Huckabee, on the other hand, was bumbling in his method of speaking, citing the necessity of deregulation, praising governor of Texas Rick Perry for his conservative free market economic policies, while blasting the interventionist economic policies of liberal states such as California, New York, and Illinois, and promising to 'veto any bill coming from Democrats in Congress establishing a bloated welfare state and moving this great country closer to socialism." Huckabee's heated rhetoric cost him significant amounts of audience support, and on one occasion he was booed. The two candidates also disagreed sharply on the current troop deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Huckabee insisted that the wars be taken as long as necessary to end terrorism, while Kane insisted on a rapid evacuation from Iraq while supporting the current end date of 2014 for the ending of the war in Afghanistan. Kane said that "the Brotherhood of Nod has been at work in both of these countries, and Iraq is approaching the point it no longer needs us. Generals [Anton] Slavik and [Alton Jerome 'Ajay'] Jackson agree with my assessment and the majority of baseline American commanders do as well." After the debate, accusations of bias from Burdette, the debate moderator, were made, alleging that his questions were unfairly biased against Huckabee. Burdette, a member of the Brotherhood of Nod, was considered as an inappropriate moderator for some time, but many in the Democratic Party have spoken out in his favor, including New York Congressman Farouk Hassan. Through a variety of political hassles, Burdette was chosen as the moderator. Excerpt from the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch, October 2008 Vice Presidential Debates Held at Wash. U Sheppard, Obama spar over military, energy policy
ST. LOUIS - Yesterday afternoon, the vice presidential candidates from the two major parties, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mark Jamison Sheppard, debated intensely in Washington University of St. Louis, in a debate moderated by Gwen Ifill of PBS. The two candidates mainly spoke about energy policy and foreign policy, specifically in regards to renewable energy and the current situation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Like the Presidential debates held in Oxford, Mississippi, the two candidates were able to agree that the current war in Afghanistan needed to be continued for at least another few years, while disagreeing on whether the war in Iraq should be continued. Obama held that an 'expedient withdrawal from Iraqi borders' was necessary by 2011, while Sheppard, the former commander of Coalition forces in Iraq, had much more things to say about it, delivering a verbose if not necessarily eloquent defense of remaining in that country: "America is the leader of a grand international coalition dedicated to bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq, something members of the ever-so-ironically named Democratic Party, yourself included, Mr. Obama, simply do not understand. You are so astronomically high up on your hobby horses that you do not understand the impact of poverty and war over there. You didn't fight in this war, Mr. Obama, nor did you in the last. I fought in both the Gulf War and the current conflict, and I know very well the suffering of the people that have to live in the ever-present possibility of an al-Qaeda attack. Is 9/11 so far away to you, Mr. Obama? Is the death of three thousand Americans so trivial? Is the death of thousands of more Iraqis a meaningless statistic, or are you operating in the mindset of a dictator like Stalin?" Sheppard was sternly rebuked by Ifill for his aggressiveness, something he has become known for, with liberal commentators describing him as 'abrasive' and 'rude,' while conservative commentators describing him as 'heroic' and 'brave' against what they deem is the 'liberal news media.' Sheppard ignored her condemnation, and continued to discuss the necessity of remaining in Iraq. Sheppard was also impassioned in his defense of oil drilling, in opposition to Obama's moderate pro-renewable resource policies (something heavily moderated by Democratic Presidential Nominee Tim Kane's pro-drilling and pro-mining positions). Sheppard. had the following to say: "I have to say I agree with Governor Kane here: American resources from American land are of the utmost importance. We simply cannot have another oil crisis like we had under Carter. I'm from Oklahoma, a state renowned for its oil drilling. We need this for America and we cannot let hippy forms of thought force us into unsustainable forms of electricity before confirming that they indeed work. America needs to become like Oklahoma or Texas, or like the southwestern parts of Governor Kane's own Virginia: masters of our resources. As much as I dislike Governor Kane, I can agree with him here." Polling after the debate indicated that the general perception that Obama was generally the more likable candidate (Sheppard suffered in questions about likability; many thought his rhetoric was too aggressive), while Sheppard seemed to have won the debate, with better logic and oratorical prowess. Excerpt from the San Francisco Chronicle, October 2008 BREAKING: PELOSI DEAD IN CAR CRASH Hassan new Speaker of the House
WASHINGTON - Nancy Patricia D'Alessandro Pelosi, representative in the House of Representatives for the majority of San Francisco and the House Majority Leader, has died in a car crash in Washington, D.C. In her place, House Democrats, many owing allegiance to the Brotherhood of Nod, have elected Representative Farouk Hassan, representative of New York's sixth congressional district and de facto leader of the Brotherhood in New York City, as Pelosi's replacement as House Speaker. Pelosi was on official business, heading across the Potomac River to Arlington County for reasons not disclosed, when a tour bus from Atlanta, Georgia, accidentally rammed into her car, causing it to ram into a convenience store nearby, killing twelve, the Speaker included. Emergency responders have secured the area and have evacuated survivors. Washington Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy L. Lanier has stated that there is no evidence of foul play, saying so in a televised interview with MSNBC's Greg Burdette. President Bush has made a statement mourning the death of the Speaker, as have the major candidates of both parties for the upcoming election. In a speech in Las Vegas, Nevada, Democratic nominee and Governor of Virginia Tim Kane has said that "this is a tragedy that such a noble servant of this country had to die in such a pitiless manner." Republican nominee Mike Huckabee said in a speech in Fargo, North Dakota, that "it is with more than a degree of sadness that the news of Speaker Pelosi's death. I will pray for her." The vice presidential nominees, Barack Obama and Mark Jamison Sheppard, have made similar statements. Within hours of Pelosi's death, House Democrats congregated in a classified area to discuss the election of a new speaker. Killian Qatar, representing a district from metropolitan Los Angeles, nominated the leader of the House's Brotherhood of Nod Caucus to the leadership, Farouk Hassan, to the speakership. In a tense contest between Hassan and Majority leader Steny Hoyer, Hassan won with a slim majority of the vote, and as such assumed the mantle as Speaker of the House of Representatives. An official announcement from the President himself has stated that, despite the tragedy, the Presidential election scheduled for November 4th will continue as planned. Additional security forces have been deployed for polling stations and the Department of Homeland Security has urged compliance with any form of security that would take place at polling stations nationwide. Excerpt from the Washington Post, November 2008 As Election Nears, Concerns About Brotherhood ActivitySome accuse organization of killing Pelosi
WASHINGTON - With the death of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in a car crash last month and the subsequent choosing of Farouk Hassan, an outspoken Brotherhood member and the leader of the Brotherhood of Nod Caucus in Congress, many have alleged that the shady organization and faction of the Democratic Party that counts nominee Tim Kane, Governor of Virginia, among its numbers, has killed Pelosi in an attempt to gain control of the government of the United States, many on both sides of the aisle. However, the Brotherhood sternly denies any involvement with the death of Pelosi, and Kane's personal news correspondent, who goes only by the name Seth, has said that "Kane mourns the death of Speaker Pelosi and applauds the Democratic action that resulted in the election of Hassan to the Speakership." Hassan was voted into office under intense scrutiny, and all authorities have said that his election was legitimate. Right wing commentators and Kane's opponent in the presidential race, former governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee, have been intensely critical of how the Democratic Party has handled the situation. In a speech in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Huckabee stated that he "had serious reserves about the choice of Hassan as our new speaker, when he is a follower of the very same ideological tenets as the Governor of Virginia." Huckabee continued and said that foul play on the part of the Brotherhood of Nod was a possibility, while refusing to say anything with certainty. Huckabee's running mate, Mark Jamison Sheppard, said in a speech in Peoria, Illinois, that he agreed with Huckabee in that "the happenings in Congress reek of cronyism." Democratic leaders have also been skeptical. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, has called for an investigation into the incident and vote, going so far as requesting a bicameral, bipartisan subcommittee to deal with the investigation in the vein of that which dealt with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland's fifth congressional district has said to the press that "I [Hoyer] felt a distinct sense that the votes and my fellow members of Congress were being manipulated by something other than their consciences." Former head of the Democratic National Committee Terry McAuliffe has denounced the move as 'demagoguery' and something to be expected from the Brotherhood. This comes at a time where, nationwide, many are afraid of vote-tampering in favor of either candidate. The Brotherhood of Nod has been widely suspected of possible intimidation tactics and other forms of harassment against its opponents, such as vandalizing the house of Joe Biden when he was running against Kane in the Democratic primary. Security forces in various states have large Brotherhood presences in their ranks, security forces which are monitoring elections. It is doubtful that they will attempt to manipulate the vote, and yet many, especially on the right wing, are worried. Excerpt from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, November 5th, 2008 KANE LIVESKane wins the Presidency, Beats Huckabee and SheppardCHICAGO, ILLINOIS - Last night, it was announced, to the joy of millions of Americans, many loyal to the Brotherhood of Nod, that Governor of Virginia Tim Kane, formerly the mayor of our beloved city of Richmond, and Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, won the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the United States, respectively, last night. In Richmond, the President's hometown, the streets are in jubilation that a son of the city will take charge of this great nation in Washington, D.C. Kane and Obama have decisively beaten the opposition consisting of the Republicans Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas, and Mark Jamison Sheppard, former commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq. The pair of Democrats have won several key states, many of which were won by Bush in the last presidential election, including some states traditionally considered Republican states. In the west, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado went for Kane, while only Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming went for Huckabee. To the east, shocking many, Kane also won the states of Missouri, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, in addition to Kane's native Virginia. Florida, a swing state, went for Kane, as did the more northern swing states of Indiana and Ohio. Kane won the entire northeast and West Coast barring Alaska (taken by Huckabee), while the southern states of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas (home of Huckabee), Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Oklahoma (birthplace of Sheppard), and Texas went for the Republicans, as did the plains states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas. Hawaii, the birthplace of Obama, and the Midwestern states of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois (the state Obama represents in the Senate), and Michigan were, expectedly, Democratic wins. The nation is cheering on the results, and White House staffers are now beginning to decorate the building for the inauguration of Kane and Obama to their new lofty positions as leaders of the Free World. The White House decorated with banners of the Brotherhood of Nod in preparation for Inauguration Day.Huckabee and Sheppard are expected to give their concession speeches in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, tomorrow afternoon. Republicans have generally accepted the victory, while some of the more vocal members of the party have cried foul (however, they have generally been ignored by the general public). Overall, the nation is in joy. The Messiah has come to help America ascend.

Excerpt from the Washington Post, January 2009 Kane Announces Agenda for TermHealthcare, Iraq Withdrawal, Energy, Economy, Education, Cabinet ChoicesWASHINGTON - In a press conference in the White House's James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, newly inaugurated President Tim Kane and Vice President Barack Obama met with the press to elaborate on their plans for the next four years in more detail than had gone on at their inauguration a week ago. In Kane's first formal press conference, he made sure to deflect potential Republican criticism from his new term, as many of the GOP establishment think of him as a demagogue. Kane formally announced the creation of the Universal Healthcare Act, to be proposed in the House by the new Speaker of the House Farouk Hassan, to be backed by other Brotherhood of Nod representatives such as Alexa Kovacs, Killian Qatar, and Cesar Vega, among others. In the plan, Kane announced the creation of healthcare exchanges in every state, expansion of Medicaid to those 200% below the Federal Poverty level, individual and corporate mandates for healthcare, controversially including contraceptives and abortions, prevention of denial of care due to preexisting conditions, among several other radical mandates. Kane intends for this plan to be operational by the beginning of 2010. In the section of his speech about healthcare, Kane referred to a theoretical "obelisk of light, shining forth from every mountain in this nation, telling the people that their ills will be provided for, and that they will be given rest." This poetic description has led to the new plan to be dubbed the "Obelisk of Light" or "ObeliskCare" by several reporters and is now being called such in the cable and online news sources. Kane also announced a complete withdrawal from Iraq by the end of 2009, saying "America's heroes have been in that nation too long. Iraq can fend for itself, and we need not promulgate the myth of the 'white man's burden' any longer." This has aroused skepticism from many, including the defeated Vice Presidential candidate Mark Jamison Sheppard, former commander of Coalition forces in Iraq. Kane spoke about a new bill in Congress called the "Technology of Peace" bill, designed to increase investment in both fossil-fuel and renewable sources of energy, the former including coal, oil, and natural gas, and the latter encompassing wind, solar, hydroelectric, and various other forms of renewables. Kane said regarding the latter: "Republicans and the Brotherhood view the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy differently. They see an industrial anomaly, a curiosity. I see the future." Kane segued from energy to the economy in what he called the "Second New Deal," a new government program designed to increase the hiring of Americans hit hard by the current recession and put them to work on public works projects, such as power plants, bridges, monuments, military equipment, and anything else needed by a community. This idea is a successor of the plans debuted during the presidential debates at the University of Mississippi in October of last year: the usage of government spending to increase aggregate demand and infrastructure, hence a better economy. Kane announced his intention to urge the repeal of the No Child Left Behind programs enacted under his predecessor, George W. Bush, and replace it with what he has dubbed the 'Hand of Nod' plan, emphasizing less standardized testing and more freedom to teachers, as well as mandatory pro-equality messages integrated into curricula. In regards to the name of the plan, Kane said that "a common Brotherhood symbol is the hand of Nod grasping the globe. This is what we must train our children to do: to have the whole world in their hands and to know the knowledge found worldwide." Kane closed his speech with his nominations for cabinet: Secretary of Defense: Gideon Raveshaw Secretary of State: Oxanna Cristos Attorney General: Elizabeth Warren Secretary of Education: James Maycheck Secretary of Health and Human Services: Alphonse Giraud Secretary of Labor: Denis Kucinich Secretary of Homeland Security: Alton Jerome "Ajay" Jackson Secretary of Veterans' Affairs: Joe Biden The rest of the cabinet will be decided later. A Democratic majority in the Senate most likely means that these candidates will be passed without much commotion. Excerpt from the Chicago Tribune, February 2009 Kane Heckled By Man as Conservative Opposition Mounts ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA - During a speech in Alexandria, Virginia, about his new healthcare law, the Universal Healthcare Act, otherwise known as the UCA or 'Obeliskcare' after a turn of phrase in the speech in January when he debuted the plan to the public, President Tim Kane was heckled by 35-year old Michael McNeil, of Russellville, Alabama, a general store owner by trade. McNeil opposed the employer and individual mandates required by the UCA and the additional costs to his business that would ensue. McNeil ran into the press conference area while Kane was being interviewed and yelled "Your healthcare law will be the end of my business and the end of many thousands more in America! You want to suck every penny from our hands! Who do you think you are, God?" Kane promptly replied "God? No, I'm not God, but I'm a close second" before McNeil was taken away by the President's security service and removed from the premises. McNeil is not expected to be arrested, and the press conference continued as normal. This comes at a time when conservatives throughout the country are decrying President Kane for his unabashed progressivism. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) denounced the UCA as "detrimental to American businesses and American workers" in a speech in Louisville, Kentucky. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has likewise lambasted the legislation, proposed by Representative Farouk Hassan (D-NY), saying that it is "beyond words how such an act is in opposition to the American people." However, the most vocal criticism has come from Mark Jamison Sheppard, the former commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq and the defeated nominee for Vice President in last year's election, running alongside former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee. On an appearance on The O'Reilly Factor, Sheppard said to the host, Bill O'Reilly, that he is dissatisfied with the current state of American politics. In particular, Sheppard stated that "Congress is controlled jointly by Democrats and RINOs. This country needs a conservative renaissance in order to restore it to the American people. I've been talking with many conservatives throughout the country and they agree with this, particularly my good friend from Texas Ron Paul, as well as his son Rand. In April, I'm going to be the chair of a new convention in Philadelphia to build a new conservative movement. We cannot sit passively. We are going to have to act if we want to live in a different nation." Excerpt from the Philadelphia Daily News, March 2009 Sheppard, Followers hold "Guarding Democracy Convention" at Independence Hall - Resolution SignedYesterday afternoon, the followers of Mark Jamison Sheppard, the former commander of Coalition Forces Iraq and a retired general in the United States Army gathered in a massive rally in Independence Hall, seeking to harken back to the time of the founders of this nation and the principles that these people feel they embody. Sheppard has previously spoken of the need for a conservative 'renaissance' in America to combat what he views as 'godless liberalism taking over our nation.' In an eloquent speech (to those who support him), Sheppard announced, flanked by Ron Paul, representative from Texas, on one side and conservative political commentator Glenn Beck on the other, with 13-star American flags and Gadsden flags, proudly displaying "Don't Tread on Me," Sheppard announced the formation of a new political group, the Guarding Democracy Initiative, or GDI, to combat the progressive policies of newly elected President Tim Kane and his organization of followers, the Brotherhood of Nod, which now controls significant portions of Congress and of state legislatures. Sheppard does not intend GDI to be a PAC or a lobbying group, but something substantially more. In his speech to the crowds near Independence Hall, he detailed his plan: "GDI is not merely a group that persuades with money. GDI is much more than that. It is a grassroots movement, composed not of professional shills, but of the common American. We will have rallies, we will hold protests in Washington and in the great cities of this nation, we will nominate candidates to office. GDI is currently affiliated with the Republican Party, as they are significantly closer to the goals of the founders of the nation, but should they stray too much, we will without hesitation leave them. GDI is not a part of American politics; GDI is America." Sheppard during the rally (AP)Further into his speech, Sheppard announced the logo of GDI as an "American eagle, swooping down to fight whatever communist threat that dares harm essential liberty." After these words, volunteers went into the crowd offering GDI eagle T-shirts, flags, and other memorabilia with the logo, things that the viewers accepted joyously. Sheppard's declaration is a codification of the widespread conservative anger with the current political situation in Washington and in the country in general, especially among those who have deemed the previous president George W. Bush, of not being sufficiently conservative. Sheppard, who is distinctively more conservative than Bush, is popular with conservative commentators, and polls of Republicans in many parts of the country find him an interesting individual whose ideas they support. It is distinctly possible that Mark Jamison Sheppard, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, will be the dominant face of American conservatism in the years to come. Excerpt from the Austin American-Statesman, Austin, Texas, February 2009 Hutchinson to Resign Senate SeatClaims Desire to Prepare to Run for Governor, Spend Time With FamilyDALLAS - Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Senator of the State of Texas, First Class, has announced that she will resign her seat in the United States Senate in order to spend more time with her family and prepare for a possible gubernatorial bid to challenge incumbent Governor Rick Perry for the Republican nomination for governor. Hutchinson has said that her resignation will take place on the first day of March of this year. Hutchinson has already sold her alternative home in Virginia, where she lived while the Senate was in session, and now plans to live in Dallas full-time. She has stated that she "will miss her friends in Washington, but ultimately I [Hutchinson] feel that I am needed more here in Texas." Hutchinson, a noted compromiser, has nevertheless been unnerved by the presence in Congress of a variety of members of the Brotherhood of Nod in its halls, including the current Speaker of the House, Farouk Hassan of New York. A special election for her soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat is to be held in early March. It is too be noted that the Democratic Party of Texas has significant backing by the Brotherhood of Nod, especially in major cities such as Austin, Houston, Dallas-Forth Worth, San Antonio, and El Paso, among others. The foremost member of the Brotherhood serving in an official capacity in Texas is Cesar Vega, a Representative in the House for the 9th District, spanning Southwestern Houston and Missouri City. The Brotherhood of Nod is expected to nominate Vega for the Senate seat, and their electoral prospects seem plausible but far from certain. Also of note is the declaration by Mark Jamison Sheppard, the former Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq and now a conservative ideologue and founder of the new conservative umbrella organization the Guarding Democracy Initiative, or GDI, that the organization will attempt to find a candidate that will stand for office for the seat, working in conjunction with the Republican Party of Texas. GDI, a new organization, is still yet to have successfully nominate, let alone elect to office, a candidate. Nevertheless, GDI has already become a notable force in American conservatism, as it has the endorsement of various conservative political commentators, such as Glenn Beck, and Texas representative Ron Paul, among others. In an interview with a high-ranking officer in the ranks of GDI, Jack Granger of Gilbert, Arizona, speaking in Houston, said that "this senate seat needs to go conservative, or Congress will fall to the Brotherhood of Nod in a few years, and Texas shortly thereafter. That is something we cannot afford to happen." Granger answered some more questions but none were of any substance. It is unknown who GDI, or the Republican Party for that matter, plans to nominate as of now for the Senate special election. Excerpt from the Houston Chronicle, February 2009 Sheppard meets with Cruz in DallasFormer General pledges to support former Solicitor General for contested Senate seatDALLAS - Former Commander of Coalition forces in Iraq and last year's Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Mark Jamison Sheppard, the leader of the conservative political action group (the group defies traditional classifications) the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), recently born in a convention in Philadelphia, endorsed Rafael Edward 'Ted' Cruz, the former solicitor general of Texas, for the Senate seat recently vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchinson, for the Republican primary for that office. Cruz, a conservative of some note in the state who worked for the state Attorney General, Greg Abbott, from 2003 to 2008. Cruz is a noted lawyer and legal scholar who graduated from Princeton and subsequently worked on cases for Chief Justice William Rehnquist and current House Minority Leader John Boehner. Just recently, he wrote the amicus brief that led to the Supreme Court to declare that the second amendment to the constitution does indeed apply to private gun ownership in the case District of Columbia v. Heller, a landmark decision on gun rights in America and a triumph for conservative thought. On the case, Sheppard has referred to Cruz as "one of the greatest crusaders for liberty in this day in age." GDI money and campaign personnel are now expected to back the Cruz campaign for senator. The main competition for the Senate seat within the Republican Party is the current Lieutenant Governor of Texas, David Dewhurst, who is of more orthodox political leanings than the comparatively radical Cruz. Governor of Texas Rick Perry has not endorsed either candidate and is expected to remain neutral in the race for the senate seat. In the Democratic Party, only Cesar Vega, a member of the House of Representatives for Texas' 9th Congressional District, spanning a good portion of Houston, has stepped forward. Vega, a member of the Brotherhood of Nod, the political organization led by President Tim Kane, is expected by many to win the seat to ride off of Kane's success to gain the White House, but the current Texas political climate is one of Republican dominance. Among those predicting a Republican victory, it is said that Dewhurst is the likely victor in the primaries. However, the Guarding Democracy Initiative is rapidly gaining membership, especially among the Republican party faithful that voted for the team of Mike Huckabee and Mark Jamison Sheppard for the Presidency last November. It is predicted, if Cruz is chosen by the Texas Republican Party and subsequently win the Senate seat, GDI will grow to a national level of prominence that could rival the Brotherhood of Nod. Excerpt from the San Antonio Express-News, February 2009 Cruz, Vega nominated as Senate CandidatesAUSTIN - Today, the Texas Republican Party nominated Ted Cruz, former Solicitor General of Texas, as its candidate for the Senate seat left vacant by the resignation of Kay Bailey Hutchinson. Likewise, in a similar ceremony, the Texas Democratic Party formally nominated Cesar Vega, a member of the United States House of Representatives for Texas' ninth district, as its own candidate for the vacated seat. This election is widely seen throughout the nation as a test of the staying power of the Brotherhood of Nod, the faction of the Democratic Party of which President Tim Kane is a member, and whose members feel a sense of vindication after having Kane, formerly Governor of Virginia, elected president in November of last year. Democrats are hoping Vega is able to ride the success of the current President, while Republicans are hoping that the traditionally conservative state of Texas will reject Vega much as it did Kane. The election is complicated by the entrance of the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), a conservative interest group led by Mark Jamison Sheppard, former commander of Coalition forces in Iraq and the running mate of former governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee as the Republican ticket of the last election, into the race. GDI endorsed Cruz for the position and fought tooth and nail to have in chosen in the Republican primaries, making Cruz the first GDI candidate for any office whatsoever. Cruz speaking to supporters in Houston. This electoral battle, therefore, is the first direct conflict between the Brotherhood of Nod on the one hand and the Guarding Democracy Initiative on the other hand. The two factions, the far left and the far right, are a demonstration of the polarized state of American politics at this time. It is unknown, however, whether moderates are swayed by either side, or if they are simply alienate by the rhetoric present in both campaigns. Excerpt from the El Paso Times, March 2009 Cruz Wins Senate SeatGDI Celebrates; Nod WorriesCruz at a celebratory rally in Lubbock.LUBBOCK - The Guarding Democracy Initiative, under former Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq Mark Jamison Sheppard, has seen its first electoral victory in the election of Ted Cruz, former Solicitor General of Texas, as the new Senator of Texas, replacing the recently resigned Kay Bailey Hutchinson. The Texas branch of GDI, as well as a variety of other Republican officials, have met in Lubbock as a celebration of their new victory. In a speech to hundreds of conservatives, Sheppard state that "this is the first step in remaking America in the image of its founders, and the beginning of a new birth of freedom for all." He went on to savage the Brotherhood of Nod and the Democratic Party at large, saying that they were the sole barrier against "actual progress" in the United States. Sheppard also emphasized the necessity of grassroots organization in the role of GDI, as many local organizers throughout Texas had been able to move the vote in Cruz' decisive favor. Also in attendance were Conservative pundit Glenn Beck and famed Libertarian congressman and GDI favorite Ron Paul, who both spoke and endorsed the GDI gains. Additionally, many local conservatives attended, as well as many state and national conservative figures previously not identified with GDI. Political analysts nationwide have now begun to predict the rise of GDI as a conservative reaction to the Brotherhood of Nod, especially after the latter's gaining of the White House with President Kane's election last year. It is theorized that the cooperation brought on by the War on Terror is beginning to falter, and radicals, tired of supporting the other side, are beginning to rise in popularity on both sides of the isle. However, other commentators have noted that Texas is a traditionally conservative state, sending its electoral votes, with a clear popular majority, in favor of Mike Huckabee and Mark Jamison Sheppard in the last presidential election, contending that Cesar Vega, the Nod-backed candidate for the senate and a member of the House of Representatives for an area of Houston, had little chance of winning the state anyhow. Excerpt from the Washington Post, March 2009 Hassan Proposes ObeliskCare on House FloorYesterday afternoon, Speaker of the House Farouk Hassan, representative of New York's 6th congressional district and leader of the Brotherhood of Nod caucus in the House of Representatives, proposed the Universal Healthcare Act, dubbed 'ObeliskCare' by the media due to a turn of phrase used by President Kane during his announcement of it, to the House for initial reading. The Act was first announced by Kane during his initial press conference upon acceding to office in the White House. Obeliskcare promises to be the most comprehensive healthcare law since President Lyndon B. Johnson's 'Great Society' in the 1960s, something that Kane has admitted to being influenced by, as well as Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal in the 1930s and 1940s. The bill includes both individual and business mandates to provide healthcare to all American citizens, something criticized by Republicans as being too reminiscent of 'Big Government,' as well as potentially violating the First Amendment in its mandatory coverage of contraception and abortion (both things that Kane and the Brotherhood of Nod is adamantly in favor of). In addition to the mandates, ObeliskCare orders all states to have freely available Healthcare exchanges, and extends free healthcare to those with incomes under 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, something that no previous healthcare law has done, in hopes of "extending the right of free healthcare to all Americans," in the words of representative Carlos Mendoza (D-AZ). Additionally, healthcare companies are prevented from denying coverage based on preexisting conditions. Republicans in Congress have lambasted the bill, calling it detrimental to American business and violating multiple sections of the Constitution. House Republicans, led by John Boehner, have overwhelmingly decided to vote against the bill when it comes to be voted. Boehner said he "hopes that it dies in committee." Likewise, Senate Republicans have denounced the bill, with House Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky branding it a "violation of freedom of religion and an overbearing of government." Most vocal in his condemnation is newly elected Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz, who has come to office in a special vote backed by the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI) led by the conservative activist Mark Jamison Sheppard. In a meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, the leadership of GDI, Cruz included, agreed to completely condemn the Universal Healthcare Act and all related bills. Cruz has stated in a press conference that the bill is "against everything our fathers stood for," a statement echoed by Sheppard and other leading conservatives in the GDI movement. Excerpt from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, April 2009 Nod Legislation Polarizes AmericaLiberals say they are the most progressive laws they have ever seen, Conservatives say they are a threat to America's heritageAs the Democratic majority in both houses of Congress continues to propose legislation, the nation is becoming increasingly polarized by the radicalness of the ideas proffered by the party, especially its militantly progressive wing, the Brotherhood of Nod. The current administration under President Tim Kane has supported these progressive laws, and the President has endorsed them in public, often surrounded by friendly members of Congress. The Universal Healthcare Act, proposed by Speaker of the House Farouk Hassan, has recently been amended, which will now promise free healthcare to those under the poverty line, gradually extending the process of making healthcare free until the entire nation is freely ensured in 2030. The proposer of the amendment, Killian Qatar (D-CA), has stated that "my hometown of Los Angeles suffers from expensive healthcare or no healthcare at all. We must act to ensure that the future is not like this for our children and their children." This has been endorsed by many progressive figures, such as Attorney General Elizabeth Warren, among others. Additionally, other amendments to the act are a 'regional alliance' system similar to the Clinton Healthcare proposal of the 1990s, something that has brought great suspicion to members of the Republican Party and other Conservative groups. Another controversial piece of legislation is the Fair Minimum Wage Act, proposed by Alexa Kovacs (D-IL), which has the radical idea of raising the federally mandated minimum wage to twenty dollars an hour. Democratic support for this bill has been more muted than that for the Universal Healthcare Act; Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, a noted critic of the Brotherhood of Nod has said that he is seriously considering not voting for the bill should it reach the Senate, and urges fellow Democrats to do the same. Reid has said that "while I am all for a higher minimum wage, twenty dollars an hour seems extreme." Other bills proposed during the 111th Congress by members of the Brotherhood of Nod include the Nationwide Marriage Equality Act, legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide, the Right to Choose Act, legalizing abortion throughout the country with minimum restrictions, and the Naturalization Act, allowing for many more illegal immigrants in this country, mostly from Mexico and other parts of Latin America, to be naturalized as full citizens. These bills, as one may guess, are being hailed by some as being incredibly progressive, while others, even some liberals, are criticizing them for being extremist and impetuous. Conservatives nationwide are demanding their demise on the House floor or in committees. The Guarding Democracy Initiative in particular is beginning to serve as the leading organization for critics of the Brotherhood, and its leader, Mark Jamison Sheppard, is willing to lead them. Excerpt from the New York Times, May 2009 Republican Opposition to ObeliskCare Mounts; Bill to be Introduced in SenateFilibustering considered by high-ranking Senators, Newly elected CruzWASHINGTON - the supporters of the Brotherhood of Nod's healthcare plan, ObeliskCare, or more formally the Universal Healthcare Act, have been confounded at what appears to be the widespread opposition to the bill from the Republicans in the Senate, who appear amazingly well organized in terms of coherency. This has no doubt been aided by the rise of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, the conservative political movement founded and led by Mark Jamison Sheppard. The Initiative has recently elected its first national level candidate to office, Rafael Edward 'Ted' Cruz of Texas, who took his place in the Senate after the surprise resignation of Kay Bailey Hutchinson, the previous Texas Senator in that class. In a speech to the Senate, Cruz said that "I [Cruz] will fight tooth and nail to oppose this bill. I am even seriously considering filibustering it, if that is what it takes. I'm not backing down, and neither should any of the Republicans back down either. This is a fight for America and a fight for liberty." The introducer of the bill in the Senate, Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a noted leader of the Brotherhood of Nod in the body, has responded that Cruz is a radical who should not be trusted in the capacity as Senator. Nevertheless, both Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-TX) and many other prominent Republican senators have declared their support for Cruz. Many did so at a dinner with Mark Jamison Sheppard to discuss a funded opposition to the introduction of ObeliskCare, as well as the possibility of a filibuster. No consensus has apparently been reached by the Senate Republicans, but Cruz is obviously in favor of doing so. McConnell is more reserved, but agrees with Cruz over the apparent importance of blocking the bill. Other Senate Republicans are attempting to decide, as their backers, Sheppard included, urge them on. Excerpt from the Miami Herald, May 2009 Kane applauds Cuban readmission to OAS; prepares to reestablish diplomatic relations Rumors of Havana visit plans, Diaz condemns possibilitySAN PEDRO SULA, HONDURAS - In an internationally shocking move, the Organization of American States has voted to allow Cuba, under Communist rule since 1959, to have its suspension from the organization lifted and allowed to fully participate in the Organization's functions as a member state as any other. In a break of decades of US foreign policy, President Tim Kane has said in a speech in Washington that he fully supports bringing Cuba back into the OAS, and will attempt to reestablish diplomatic relations with the Cuban government in Havana. Kane commented that "the US has for far too long been operating under the modus operandi of the Cold War, a conflict which ended almost two decades ago. Now is the time to reestablish diplomatic relations with our progressive neighbor and put an end to the embargo." Rumors have swirled on the Internet and in Washington circles that Kane is planning to visit Havana, possibly with whoever he decides to appoint as the ambassador to the Caribbean nation. Doing so this year would mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, and would hence likely used by the Cubans to demonstrate US acceptance of their ideals. Conservatives throughout the country are enraged, and the state of Florida in particular is undergoing significant protest. Mayor of Miami Manny Diaz, the son of a Cuban immigrant, has made repeated comments in that he "agrees with Republicans in that extending relations to the current Cuban regime is an insult to the Cuban-Americans that left that country to flee to the United States. It is not merely an insult, but a betrayal, not just of the people but of the values that this country claims to support." Massive rallies have been staged in Tallahassee to protest to the state government, and Marco Rubio, a Republican representative in the state House of Representatives for the 111th district and formerly the Speaker of that body, has spoken in sympathy with these protestors. Rubio, in a speech to protestors in Tallahassee, has stated that he has been in contact with Mark Jamison Sheppard, leader of the conservative grassroots movement, the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), and have talked about the possibility of allying to fight the extension of diplomatic relations to Cuba, and coordinating GDI actions in Florida and in Washington, D.C. to do so. GDI currently has one member of Congress loyal to it, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, who was elected in March in a special election to cover the retirement of previous senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson. Excerpt from the Tallahassee Democrat, June 2009 Kane visits Havana, meets CastroProtests in Tallahassee, Washington ensueHAVANA, CUBA - President Tim Kane arrived last night in Havana, capital of Cuba, to meet with Cuban President Raul Castro to discuss the reopening of trade relations between the United States and Cuba. Cuba, recently readmitted as a full member to the Organization of American States in a meeting in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, has now been designated by Kane to receive an American ambassador by October of this year. The decision to reestablish relations is a part of Kane's new progressive ideology that demands an new way of evaluating America's society and its role in the world. In a speech in Havana, he called for "an end to unjust interventionism like that in Grenada or Nicaragua that we have made within the past century, and a beginning of new relations with our brothers and sisters to our south." He went on to elaborate that he felt that the Cold War was decidedly over and that friendly relations must be maintained with all Latin American nations. Castro and Kane discussed the possibility of reuniting families of Cubans and Cuban-Americans who had fled from their home island to states such as Florida much like those that occur in the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Also on the agenda was the state of their embassies, the new trading relationship between the two countries, the state of the prison at Guantanamo Bay on the southern part of the island, and the possibility of humanitarian aid from the US going to the more impoverished parts of Cuba. The United States and Cuba now are poised to begin once more a practical and mutually beneficial relationship with one another. However, this reestablishment of relations is not accepted by all Americans. Mark Jamison Sheppard, leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, the conservative political group rapidly gaining ground nationwide, has met with Representative of the 111th district in the Florida House of Representatives Marco Rubio, a Republican and son of a Cuban immigrant, have staged a protest of local conservatives and GDI supporters at the Florida state capital. Both Sheppard and Rubio have spoken at this event and have both been met by thunderous cheers by the audience. In a similar manner, GDI-aligned Senator from Texas, also a son of Cuban immigrants, Ted Cruz has led a protest on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. Cruz said to the protestors that "we [America] must not allow tyrants such as Castro to continue their unjust reign over their peoples. An ambassador in Havana would only serve to legitimize Castro's rule." Excerpt from the Washington Post, June 2009 Brotherhood Proposes Mandatory Swine Flu VaccinationEmployers, Schools would be responsible for paying; possibly worked into ObeliskCareWASHINGTON - Member of the House of Representatives Carlos Mendoza, a Democrat and member of the Brotherhood of Nod from Arizona's 7th congressional district has proposed that the Federal government should mandate vaccinations for the deadly H1N1 'Swine Flu' currently causing international panic. The Brotherhood of Nod has come out in swinging support of a government-mandated response to the pandemic (as it was recently declared as such by the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control). According to Mendoza's proposal, vaccinations would be provided by schools and businesses, with possible federal rewards for doing so efficiently, to employers and children. Mendoza placed an emphasis on the states of California, Arizona (his home state), New Mexico, and Texas, as they constitute the border with Mexico, the place where, in the state of Veracruz, the pandemic originated, and thusly are at the most risk of infections due to the large amount of Mexican immigrants and nationals within these states. In response to Republican and especially GDI criticism, Mendoza responded that such a requirement was permitted by the Constitution and pointed to the 1905 Supreme Court decision in Jacobson v. Massachusetts, which ruled that states may require compulsory vaccination if the situation warrants doing so for the common good. The reasoning in that case concerns the police power of states, and that it is permitted for a state to abrogate individual liberty if such liberty conflicts with the good of the majority of the population of the state in question. From this, says Mendoza, it is logical that the Federal Government may require such a thing of the states for the good of the entire nation. Nevertheless, Mark Jamison Sheppard, leader of GDI, has denounced such a proposal, saying that it is "a flagrant violation of individual liberty and maddeningly unconstitutional," saying so on an interview with Glenn Beck, who agreed with him enthusiastically. GDI has already organized rallies in Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque, El Paso, Laredo, Brownsville, McAllen, and San Diego protesting the possibility, and ones in Sacramento, Los Angeles, Austin, and Washington are planned. GDI hopes to use this as another talking point in the 2010 congressional elections, in which they hopefully could establish a significant force in Congress. Excerpt from the New York Times, June 2009 Harvard Scientist Announces Breakthrough Research in Countering Swine Flu CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS - A researcher and professor in virology and bacteriology at Harvard University by the name of Ignatio Mobius has made what he feels is a 'breakthrough' in combatting the current H1N1 'Swine Flu' pandemic currently spreading around the world. Mobius, a longtime student of antiviral medicine, had been running tests in his laboratory with several materials, which he has said are "too varied and too complicated to list in something other than a scientific paper, and far definitely too complex to be listed in a newspaper article." Mobius being interviewed in Cambridge. Mobius' findings have sparked interest in many spheres, including the federal government. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alphonse Giraud has called on Mobius to "work with the federal government and with the international community to eliminate this threat to so many lives." Many members of the Brotherhood of Nod in the House of Representatives, as well as in states governments, have made similar pleas to Mobius. Most profound has been the call for help from Felipe Calderon, President of Mexico, the country where, in the state of Veracruz, the current outbreak started. In a press conference in the city of Veracruz, Calderon said that "my people are dying and suffering due to lack of a cure. We need your help, Mr. Mobius. We need your help and your cure to save ourselves, and from there, prevent this from ever happening again, in Mexico, in the United States, or anywhere else." However, Mobius is very critical of the current administration and especially of the current healthcare plan, dubbed ObeliskCare, going through debate in the House of Representatives and the Senate, backed by the Brotherhood of Nod. In an interview in Cambridge, Mobius said that "the current plan espoused by President Kane and Speaker Hassan creates no new doctors but intends to give millions more Americans coverage. I cannot say I am sure that I trust the current government to control the cure in its current state." In saying this, Mobius has won praise from certain groups, including the Guarding Democracy Initiative. However, it is unknown how the cure will be distributed if not by the Federal government; proposed alternatives include the World Health Organization, an organ of the United Nations.

Excerpt from the Boston Herald, June 2009 Kane Issues Executive Order Allowing Conscription of Scientists to fight Swine Flu Maintains Disease Can Be CuredWASHINGTON, D.C. - President Tim Kane has recently issued an executive order allowing the 'mandatory employment' of scientists whose work has been deemed "necessary for the public good." Although this has no specific indication to what scientists it may pertain to, circumstances make it clear that Kane has the Harvard virologist Ignatio Mobius in his sights. Mobius, a skeptic of the current administration's plans for health care, has refused to work with the federal government. Kane's Secretary of Health and Human Services Alphonse Giraud has publicly supported such an order, maintaining that it is necessary in the face of "scientists who fail to understand the magnitude of their work." White House Press Secretary Greg Burdette has been interviewed by many members of the press, the Boston Herald included. Burdette stated that the order required the government to provide "reasonable compensation in the form of a salary, living space, and materials and equipment for research." Elaborating further, Burdette revealed that the executive order would not have any detrimental legal effects on the scientists in question, and they would thusly be able to return to civilian life after their 'tour of duty' had reached its conclusion. Burdette echoed previous statements that such an action by the federal government is constitutional according to Article II of the Constitution, in which the President is obligated to "take care that the laws are faithfully executed," a common justification of the use of executive orders. When questioned about Mobius, Burdette was adamant in the position that Mobius was not a specific target of the order, and that such an authorization was meant as a broad necessity and not in terms of Mobius himself. Burdette refused to give clear answers to more specific questions regarding Mobius, and also did not elaborate when asked what 'laws' were that the order was intended to 'faithfully execute.' All Burdette said was that the "the laws will be executed in a decisive manner and the Constitution respected, while competently dealing with the threat to American society posed by the H1N1 virus." Excerpt from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, June 2009 Mobius Taken By CDC Announcement from Druid Hills says he is fine, interview suggests otherwiseDRUID HILLS - In accordance with a recent executive order by President Tim Kane, famed virologist with a possible cure for the H1N1 virus, has been enlisted involuntarily into the service of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a federal agency under the responsibilities of the Department of Health and Human Services. The Secretary for Health and Human Services, Alphonse Giraud, has had a press conference at the CDC headquarters at Druid Hills maintaining that this action was completely voluntary; an interview with Mobius himself appears to reveal something distinct from consent. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alphonse Giraud during his press conference at the headquarters of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In the press conference, Giraud maintained that "such an enlistment is completely constitutional and is necessary for the prevention of the spread and increase in lethality of the H1N1 virus, and I, in my capacity as the Secretary of Health and Human Services of the United States of America, promise that Mr. Mobius is being held consensually, with adequate compensation, and in good conditions. His work will be most valuable in stopping this virus, something the entire nation should thank him for." Giraud put particular emphasis on the constitutionality of the enlistment, as there has been significant questions regarding the ability of the President to put forth such an order without any consultation of Congress. However, in the interview with Mr. Mobius, he appeared to be quite nervous, stuttering often and correcting himself frequently. He said that he was willing to work with the federal government if need be, and that his care was "sufficient for the task," although it was nothing glamorous. He was overall apprehensive, refusing to divulge concrete details about his work, his superiors, or his political views and their effect on his new work. He said that he would "miss Harvard and the people there," and would return to them after his work with the CDC is completed. Mobius expects to be done with the vaccine in early 2010 and will supervise promulgation efforts into that year. Excerpt from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, June 2009 Mobius Kidnapped by Right-Wing ExtremistCaptor issues video manifestoDRUID HILLS - Last night, a right-wing extremist by the name of Nicholas "Nick" Parker, also going by the alias "Havoc," broke into the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's headquarters in Druid Hills and kidnapped the esteemed professor and virologist Ignatio Mobius, who had been recently enlisted by the federal government to take control of American efforts to combat the H1N1 virus, more commonly known as Swine Flu. Mobius, an ardent critic of the current administration's health policy and the current Universal Healthcare Act being debated in Congress right now, has spoken out against many policies of the current administration. In a video released on YouTube, Parker outlined his background and his reasons for the kidnapping, speaking from an unknown location. Parker purported to be from Allentown, Pennsylvania, where his father was a worker in a steel mill that was shut down due to the "God damned liberals in the Unions." In his tirade, with Mobius in the background bound and gagged, he blamed "The current occupant of the White House's plan to shove socialism down the throats of honest Americans to be nothing but a disgusting example of President Kane's namby-pamby big government and namby-pamby 'can't we all get along' liberalism. America is playing right into Nod's hands." Clad in a modern uniform with edits to be reminiscent of the soldiers of the Continental Army of the Revolutionary War, and Thirteen-Star flags, Gadsden flags, and other memorabilia calling to mind the Revolutionary War, Parker said that "this blatant conscription is a sign of the liberal takeover of America and the dawn of the imposition of Communism, the destruction of traditional values, and the creation of the nanny state in which the lazy will be treated like kings and the hardworking like peasants." He went on the decry the recognition of Raul Castro's government in Cuba, calling it "acknowledging that George III had rule over any of these states after independence." In his video, Parker claimed that Mobius was here in his own accord, something which seemed to be doubtful given that the latter was bound and gagged on a chair in the background. Parker praised Mark Jamison Sheppard, the leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), the right-wing organization that is mobilizing many conservative Americans against the current administration and former vice presidential candidate, as "the man this country needs right now." Sheppard has remarked that he does not condone violence that Parker has committed, but has refused to say anything else on the matter. Excerpt from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, June 2009 Kane Vows to Rescue MobiusConservatives notably quietWASHINGTON: In a speech to hundreds of journalists, President Tim Kane has announced a "fully appropriate response" to the kidnapping of Ignatio Mobius, the virologist at Harvard that was recently kidnapped by the conservative extremist Nicholas Parker from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) headquarters in Druid Hills. In his address, Kane said that: "The entirety of the United States government's security apparatus will be deployed to rescue this professor and ensure that the cure to the insidious disease that is Swine Flue will be eradicated, much like the scourge that is terrorism. They are both hostile to the true meanings of America and the American Dream, and to the sacred ideals expressed within the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence." Military forces have already been mobilized in the Atlanta metropolitan area to engage in investigation operations and in securing the CDC headquarters and the general area of Druid Hills. Kane has also made a speech directed to members of the Brotherhood of Nod, the political group and faction of the Democratic Party that Kane leads, to aid the federal government in finding Mobius and Parker. In this address, held in Havre de Grace, Maryland, Kane said that "The Brotherhood's imperative is to help America first and foremost. Do so by helping lawful authority do its job and find this terrorist." US Air Force helicopter at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, bringing supplies to the CDC.As of now, occasional military forces can be seen throughout Atlanta, leading to complaints of the establishment of a "military state" in the area. Governor of Georgia Sunny Perdue has decried the "federal interference in Atlanta," in a press conference held at the Georgia State Capitol building. It is notable that Perdue, a Republican, has entertained those from the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), the conservative group led by former vice presidential candidate Mark Jamison Sheppard. However, opposition has come from the political left as well; Mayor of Atlanta Shirley Franklin, a Democrat, has also decried "an interference in the lives of average Atlantans" by the federal government. General Walter L. Sharp, the general in charge of the military response to the kidnapping and potential growth of right-wing terrorism, has said that: "This is only temporary and will subside until we have definitive proof that Parker is not in Atlanta or in Georgia. If he is elsewhere, we will leave." Sharp has been redeployed from his status as commander of US forces in Korea to serve as the commander of this operation. President Kane has openly supported Sharp in his efforts to find Parker and rescue Mobius. Excerpt from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, July 2009 BREAKING: BOMBING AT HARTSFIELD-JACKSON EMERGENCY SQUADS EN ROUTE; APPARENTLY BY THE HANDS OF HAVOC PARKERATLANTA - A large homemade explosive device has detonated at a military checkpoint established at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Initial death toll is confirmed to be twelve dead, and at least a hundred more injured have been rushed to several hospitals around the Atlanta metropolitan area, and General Walter Sharp, commander of the forces deployed in Atlanta to find the terrorist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker and defend the city from his attacks, is now on the scene to oversee rescue and repair operations. The incendiary device that was employed was made out of several chemicals easily obtained via private commercial means, but the Army has refused to release specifications as not to potentially give ideas to those who may try to emulate it. Sharp has said that it is believed by the Armed Forces that Parker is acting alone, but it is possible that his actions may serve to inspire other right-wing extremists to take similar action. Widespread conservative disillusionment with the current administration is "a potential cause of terrorist goals and activity" in the words of General Sharp. Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, where the bombing took place. In a press conference, President Tim Kane announced that the US military would be taking "unprecedented action to remove the terrorist threat, including the usage of military drones to find possible terrorists in the Atlanta metropolitan area. If such attacks continue, Kane says, he may be open to the usage of domestic surveillance drones to be used in other American cities. Speaker of the House Farouk Hassan has said that he "fully supports this possibility" and will work with members of the House to pass any legislation necessary to help combat this growing threat. Excerpt from the Washington Post, August 2009 Man Claims President Stole His Identity RICHMOND, VIRGINIA - A man, calling himself Timothy Michael 'Tim' Kaine, has made the allegation that the current President, Timothy Kane, stole his identity and credentials and used them to run for Mayor of Richmond and from there advance his political career. Kaine at a press conference in Richmond at a local courtAccording to this man, in 1984 the man who is currently President, along with several armed men, kidnapped him and stole most of his credentials and identifying documents, and used them to advance in society, using them to provide cover and a plausible background for several years. "They bound and gagged me and threatened to kill me if I told the police," said this man. The Brotherhood of Nod, he alleges, is the President's personal organization to "take over the world" and "cause some sort of extinction event." Furthermore, he accuses the Brotherhood of forcing him to change his name; he had been going by his middle name, Michael, for many years, and has forsaken his place on the Virginia State Bar because of that. Also, the President and his associates changed records in the states of Minnesota, Missouri, and Massachusetts, as well as Virginia, to accommodate this new identity. In what may be the first major scandal of the Kane administration, the President called these accusations "completely baseless" and "patently ridiculous, even more so than the stuff GDI has made up about me," laughing quite audibly at the press conference where this information was gleamed. "Why would I, an honorable citizen, go to the extent of stealing another man's identity to start a political career? It's counterproductive." Kane then produced a birth certificate saying that he was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and then diplomas and records that showed that he graduated high school in Missouri before going to the University of Missouri and than Harvard for graduate school. The man who is alleging that the President stole his identity says that "if I didn't do this now, he would be able to get away with it," regarding the reasoning for his revelation. He also reports other people who have been silenced by the Brotherhood of Nod may come forth with their stories of harassment and intimidation, and openly called upon them to come forth. Leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, Mark Jamison Sheppard, has made the announcement that GDI will "openly support those that reveal themselves," but Kaine refuses to affiliate himself with them. Excerpt from the News Virginian, Waynesboro, Virginia, September 2009 Former Governor Claims Harassment by BrotherhoodGives Support to Timothy KaineRICHMOND - Former Governor of Virginia A. Linwood Holton has recently issued a press statement that he had been "harassed" by the Brotherhood of Nod, now a significant faction within the Democratic Party that boasts President Tim Kane and Vice President Barack Obama as members, to remain quiet on how the current President allegedly stole Timothy Kaine's identity in the 1980s. Holton has stated that he had been "verbally and physically persuaded by the Brotherhood to remain quiet with the threat of death should he reveal it." Notably, he was flanked by guards of the Virginia State Police to avoid possible attackers. Holton was the Governor of Virginia from 1970 to 1974, the first Republican Governor of the state since Henry H. Wells, an appointed governor of the state during Reconstruction who served from 1868 to 1869 and failed to be elected to the Democratic challenger Gilbert Carlton Walker, and the first non-Democrat since the Re-Adjuster William E. Cameron, a former soldier in the Confederate Army who formed a coalition with certain Republicans, including free African-Americans, to dismantle the power of the planter elite, governing from 1882 to 1886. Under Holton, employment for African-Americans and women was increased, the state Republican Party was energized after a century of nigh-irrelevance, and started the state Governor's School program. Holton's daughter, Anne, married Timothy Kaine in 1984, and shortly thereafter the Brotherhood of Nod allegedly forced them to remain almost anonymous in the public eye with the threat of death should they not. Holton claims that similar threats were made to him, and that he has been visited by Brotherhood inspectors monthly since then, increasing in frequency with Tim Kane's election to Mayor of Richmond, Governor of Virginia, and President of the United States. Holton has said that the Brotherhood has "bullied" him and keeps records of his activities and public statements. The Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), led by Mark Jamison Sheppard, has lent support to Holton, but the former governor has refused this help. A noted moderate in the state Republican Party, Holton, who refused to support former Senator Harry Flood Byrd, Jr.'s campaign for senate after the latter broke with the state Democratic Party (and subsequently won election to the Senate), has said that he "wants no association with a group run by the same people who ran Virginia for over a century." Nevertheless, GDI has still been supportive Holton, Kaine, and others who have claimed harassment by the Brotherhood. Sheppard has said that "it is imperative that the government reveal the full extent of these crimes." Excerpt from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, October 2009 As Search for Havoc Parker Continues, Concerns over Civil LibertiesACLU, others fear that militarization of Atlanta will lead to unnecessary curtailing of rightsATLANTA - With three months after the capture of Ignatio Mobius, the renowned scientist fighting the H1N1 Swine Flu virus, the search for his captor, the right-wing extremist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, has proved absolutely fruitless; almost as if to taunt us, his bombing of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was followed by even more security issues in the worst attack on American soil since the September 11th, 2001 attacks on New York City and Arlington, Virginia. In response to these attacks, General Walter L. Sharp, the commander of the force currently protecting Atlanta, has proceeded with a complete militarization of the city. To most Atlantans in the last few months, the sites of infantry walking the streets, armored vehicles and tanks rolling down along Peachtree Street, and the sight of military planes and helicopters overlooking the city. These forces are based out of a makeshift encampment in Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, while being supplied from Fort Benning outside of Columbus. Military censors have been posted in the offices of major newspapers and broadcasting corporations (including the Journal-Constitution) with the intent of 'maintaining local and national security' from terrorists like Parker. Additionally, massive public monitoring operations have taken place, and drones are also common within the skies of Atlanta and its surrounding metropolitan area. General Sharp insists that these drones are not armed, but are solely for the detection of possible terrorist activities. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), under its President, Susan N. Herman, a professor at Brooklyn Law School in New York, has made public its complaints about the current situation, stating that "such actions are a direct violation of our constitutional rights and liberties, and the government is complacent in letting the military take these away." A large public protest in front of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, in conjunction with another in front of the Georgia State House, has been allowed to occur, but was under intense scrutiny by the military. Tanks were visible, armed guards were omnipresent, and drones were everywhere. Citizens demanded that the army "get out of Atlanta" and respect the rights of Georgians as American citizens. Governor Sonny Perdue, a Republican, spoke to protestors and said that "I agree that the military is taking things too far, but I really can't do anything about that. You'd have to take up your case with General Sharp or even the President." Excerpt from the Washington Post, October 2009 Frank takes questions from press Answers reveal general GDI hostility about many current issues WASHINGTON - William Frank, the de facto 'press secretary' of the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), held a press conference at the Washington, D.C. recording studio of Fox News after filming an episode of The O'Reilly Factor with namesake talk show personality Bill O'Reilly, which Washington Post reporters attended. There, Frank took questions from the reporters and generally gave blatant hostility to questions regarding many current events and answers of little substance regarding others. Frank at the press conference. When asked about the 'conscription' of renown virologist Ignatio Mobius from his position at Harvard, Frank responded that the federal government had made a "gross overreach" in forcing him to enter government service. On the capture of Mobius by the right-wing terrorist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, Frank responded that "the Guarding Democracy Initiative does not condone any acts of violence against its political opponents, as sacrilegious and flagrantly un-American as they may be." On the subject of the current militarization of Atlanta, Frank said that "the government is insistent on transforming this great nation into a police state, and the President is starting with Atlanta. GDI will do everything it can to stop these developments and restore America to an undoubtedly free society," echoing the criticisms of conservative politicians and other individuals, such as Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue. On the topic of the man known as Timothy Kaine, the man who claims that the President stole his identity in 1984, Frank said that "Sheppard is convinced that this man is telling the truth, and does not doubt the testimonies of other persons who have made such a revelation, such as Governor A. Linwood Holton of Virginia." Regarding these individuals refusal to accept direct GDI assistance, Frank said that "we respect the rights of these individuals to do as they wish," in a decidedly non-substantive action brought about by anger at their lack of popularity. Responding to questions regarding this, Frank gave more answers of little relevant content. Shortly after these questions, Frank left the studio and went to a meeting with leaders of the Republican Party of Washington, D.C. to discuss their possible aid to GDI. His final response was a cryptic one: "Just wait for the 2010 midterms. We're planning for those already, and the rotting edifice of the Kane administration will come toppling down." Excerpt from the Tampa Tribune, November 2009 BREAKING: BOMBING AT USFHavoc Parker Believed to be ResponsibleThe terrorist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker has made his first strike on a city other than Atlanta, and has released a video stating his responsibility for the bombing that completely destroyed a residence hall at the University of South Florida, killing 168 college students and others caught in the blast. The University of South Florida has been a hotspot for the activities of the supporters of the Brotherhood of Nod, the political organization which boasts President Tim Kane as a member, in the area of Tampa and the surrounding metropolitan area. In 2008, Kane and his running mate, current Vice President Barack Obama, held a rally at the university and was met with thunderous cheers by the student body, and in no small part to activists from USF did he win the Tampa area and by extension all of Florida in the presidential election. In his video, Parker called USF "a cesspool of support of Satan and a gathering place for sodomites and blasphemers who hate America." Parker made a point of displaying the still-captive Ignatio Mobius from the basement of his compound, still bound and gagged. Parker promised that more bombings and other violent acts will take place so long as the current President is in office and the Brotherhood of Nod still maintains political power in the United States. Furthermore, he called upon his faithful to begin "taking up arms against the tyrant" and to commit similar actions in their own hometowns and local areas. Initial reports state that the bombing has killed 168 people in the initial bombing and injured at least 45 more, with 27 of those injured in critical condition. The University has pledged to support the families of the victims of these attacks with financial and other aid, and student groups have made it known that they will attempt to halt domestic terrorism and support liberal and progressive reforms, such as increased gun control, to do so. Mayor of Tampa Pam Iorio has announced similar programs to be implemented by the city government, and Hillsborough county officials have promised aid in doing so. Governor Charlie Crist, a Republican, has supported reconstruction efforts but has cautioned the state against restricting civil liberties, such as the right to bear arms, lest "the terrorists win" if such laws are passed.

Excerpt from the Washington Post, December 2009 Iraq Withdrawal Almost CompleteSlavik expects domestic deploymentsBAGHDAD, IRAQ - General Anton Slavik, the commander of Coalition forces in Iraq, has announced that by the end of the year, all American forces will be removed from Iraq and will be heading home. The Iraqi army, in the words of Slavik, has been "sufficiently armed to defend their home country themselves." Americans are rejoicing for the removal of their families from that country and homecomings are planned throughout the nation. President Kane has said that the troops "deserve a warm welcome home to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, to help us ascend to a better state of being and of acting." Transport plane landing on a runway in west Texas to bring troops from that area home. However, Slavik tempered the air of celebration saying that, with the recent bombing in Tampa by right-wing extremist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, the administration and the armed forces are afraid of the possibility of large homegrown terrorist organizations to become "a serious threat to national security." Slavik blamed the radicalization of the American conservative movement by his former superior Mark Jamison Sheppard to account for the rise of Parker, an individual that he has refused to be affiliated with. Despite this, many associate Sheppard and Parker as conservatives disillusioned with the current state of affairs in the country, with the former using political means and the latter using violent means to gain an audience. Disturbing to many groups is Slavik's contention that the administration is planning to use the military to institute martial law in areas that have been under terrorist attack, such as the current state of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Slavik stated that many military groupings are heading to Tampa to similarly secure the city for the sake of "national security," adding that techniques used in Iraq could easily be reused in the United States. Slavik concluded his speech in saying that Parker is "just like Osama bin Laden and the Taliban," referring to the current war in Afghanistan which Kane has released a withdrawal date in three months' time, to focus on "domestic terrorism." Excerpt from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, January 2010 BREAKING: RIOTS AT PIEDMONT PARK 90 Killed in Clashes with MilitaryIn what was intended to be a peaceful protest, at least ninety have been killed and at least three hundred more have been injured in an armed altercation with the military deployed at Piedmont Park. The circumstances leading to the clash began when a protest against the increasing militarization of the city of Atlanta and the surrounding metropolitan area, backed by many groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union, operating with the slogan of "Keep Atlanta Peaceful," camped out in Piedmont Park on New Years' Eve with the intention of not leaving until the military withdrew. As standard procedure for large gatherings in the current post-Mobius kidnapping city, a large battalion of tanks and infantry were positioned in an area of the park without many protestors. The day after the settlement was created, a mass demonstration against the military assembled itself within meters of the military encampment, with riot police blocking the protestors from getting too close to the main encampment. Violence began when an unknown assailant threw a Molotov cocktail, an improvised explosive device made out of a glass bottle, gasoline, and a burning rag, at the riot police, killing five immediately. Infantry subsequently fired into the crowd, and were assisted by tanks which did the same. Some protestors drew out guns and shot at the police, who were subsequently targeted by the military. Within the half-hour this occurred, at least ninety are confirmed dead and approximately three hundred more are injured, with fifty four of those are believed to be serious, and ninety are in critical condition in Atlanta hospitals. Social media has been quick to brand this incident "the Slaughter at Piedmont Park" or "the Piedmont Park Massacre." Already, more protests are planned against the military, and it is now worried that insurgent groups, such as those following the terrorist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, will take advantage of the chaos to undergo more terrorist attacks in the city and its surrounding area. Gideon Raveshaw, Secretary of Defense in the Kane administration, has said the following: "It is a tragedy that violence like this has had to happen, but it is known that the protestors fired first. The US military will never fire at unarmed protestors, and in the future we will also ensure that our riot control minimizes casualties when it does go violent." Excerpt from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, January 2010 KANE SLAMS PROTESTORS THAT ATTACKED MILITARYCalls them "traitors" and "heretics"WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Tim Kane has recently, in a press conference held at the White House, harshly condemned the protestors that caused a violent altercation, via Molotov cocktails and other methods, at Piedmont Park two nights ago. Accusing them of being sympathizers with Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, the domestic terrorist that has conducted several attacks on Atlanta and one in Tampa Florida, and is also holding the scientist Ignatio Mobius hostage for working with the US government. In a speech in which he was literally screaming at the top of his lungs, Kane said the following: "Once again America is quick to deem me a tyrant or an incompetent. How could my fellow Americans believe that what is currently unfolding in Atlanta is not unfolding exactly as it should be? Of course, I could not have planned by an ambush by my own citizens! Of all of this nation's heresies, and they are legion, the idea that our own military is a bigger threat than the terrorists to our civil liberties is an affront to everything I have planned for America!" Kane further excoriated the protesters as being insufficiently patriotic and risking that the country fall back to "an age of bigotry that we have worked so hard to leave!" He openly suspected that these protestors were backed by the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), in his most violent accusation of their motives to date. GDI spokesman William Frank has condemned the President's words, saying that "The Guarding Democracy Initiative supports the restoration of traditional American values via nonviolent methods and wholeheartedly condemns the evils perpetrated by the monster and terrorist that is Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker." GDI rallies have been held in various cities, proclaiming their innocence and their solidarity with the government in fighting him while simultaneously calling for an end to attacks on protestors. Criticisms from GDI have been met with criticisms from the American Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Watch, and the United Nations, the latter being issued by Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary General, who called for a "respectful treatment of peaceful protest by the United States and its military." International condemnation has been swift, with Chinese, Russian, and Iranian officials calling the US a hypocritical state in doing so. Excerpt from the Lexington Herald-Leader, Lexington, Kentucky, February 2010. GDI Announces 'Leaping Eagle' Plan to take CongressLOUISVILLE - Yesterday afternoon, Mark Jamison Sheppard, William Frank, and other high-ranking members of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, the grassroots conservative organization led by the former, announced what it called its 'Leaping Eagle' plan to take the House of Representatives by storm by nominating a slew of conservative candidates, many in opposition to the mainstream Republican base, to run for the House and available Senate and Gubernatorial seats. Sheppard, Frank, and many others have announced their candidacies for the House. Sheppard will be running for a house district representing his native Oklahoma City, while Frank will be running for a seat in Utah, his own home state where he grew up in the town of Ephraim in Sanpete County. Other candidates include Michael McNeil, a man who had once heckled President Kane who is now running for a house seat in Alabama, and Jack Granger, another high-ranking member of GDI, will be running for a seat in Arizona. This strategy is intended to capitalize on the current state of discontentment and revulsion among large swaths of American society against President Kane, the Brotherhood of Nod, and the Democratic Party in general, with many opposed to legislation such as the Universal Healthcare Act (otherwise known as ObeliskCare), proposed minimum wage increases, the allegations that he stole a man's identity, as well as the President's unpopular vaccine program and his handling of the attacks in Atlanta, Georgia, and the fallout from the militarization of that city and the Piedmont Park massacre. Sheppard has said that, when in Congress, he will "work to make sure that America does not become the tyranny that our forefathers fought against." Analysts say that the possibility of the Republicans, with GDI as a major component of their candidates, taking the house is possible but far from certain; Kane is still incredibly popular, as he won several generally Republican-leaning states in the Presidential elections of 2008. The Brotherhood of Nod is a very effective tool of the Democratic Party, and has since campaigned for Democratic candidates for state and local offices throughout the country. William Frank has said that "the coming midterms are the first step towards restoring America. Kane is trying to destroy it; let's take this country back!" He said this as he pointed to the golden, pouncing eagle, the emblem of the Guarding Democracy Initiative. Excerpt from the Tampa Tribune, March 2010 MILITARY ENTERS CITY, BEGINS OCCUPATIONCOMMANDED BY SLAVIKTAMPA - Forces of the United States Army have entered Tampa, Florida, after their complete withdrawal from Iraq, putting an end to one war that our nation is currently prosecuting, and will soon be withdrawn from Afghanistan as well. However, these forces return home to their native land not as a liberator but as an occupier in the face of radical right-wing terrorism such as that perpetrated by Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, who has kidnapped Ignatio Mobius, the noted virologist working on a cure to the H1N1 flu after being conscripted into government service by an executive order issued by President Tim Kane. As they have done in Atlanta, military patrols are now commonplace in the city of Tampa. Helicopters and fighter reconnaissance patrols are also widely seen, especially around the area of the University of South Florida, where a bombing destroyed a residency hall and killed over a hundred people. University authorities have been completely complacent in the occupation, allowing government security officials belonging mainly to the National Security Agency to operate on campus and in the satellite campuses and residence halls. Protests, like that in Piedmont Park in Atlanta, have occurred but have not gone violent as of yet, with peaceful intentions being expressed by all parties. Various organizations are protesting against the occupation, the American Civil Liberties Union among them. A grassroots movement, the Citizens for a Demilitarized Tampa, have protested against the occupation in both its land forms and its presence in the Gulf of Mexico that it maintains as a part of the metropolitan-area wide defensive force designed to intimidate and pursue terrorists that attempt to attack the city. President Kane has defended the occupation as a "complete necessity to combat terror," and to show the importance of this action, appointed one of the highest-ranking generals in the United States Army, Anton Slavik, the former commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq, to the position of commanding the occupation of Tampa. Kane has insisted that "such a state of affairs is temporary and is not in any way whatsoever a permanent curtailing of civil liberties." Excerpt from the Washington Post, April 2010 KAINE, OTHERS SUE PRESIDENT IN VIRGINIA COURTRICHMOND, VIRGINIA - Timothy Kaine, the man who claims that the current President, Tim Kane, and others related to the case, including Kaine's wife and father in law, former governor of Virginia A. Linwood Holton, have formally opened up charges against the President in a court in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Talking to reporters in a press conference, Kaine made it known that "the current President will be met by the full force of justice in Virginia and if necessary in higher courts." Holton also spoke at this conference and maintained the truth of Kaine's statements, and would be a member of the prosecution in the court case Kaine et al. v Kane. The administration has been surprised by this accusation but the Commonwealth of Virginia has accepted this case. It is likely, due to appeals, that the case may well go up to the Supreme Court of Virginia at least, if not to federal courts. The President has denied the accusations many times before and has called this lawsuit "absolutely frivolous." However, despite the fact that he allegedly perceives this as a frivolous lawsuit, he has also announced that Elena Kagan, the United States Solicitor General, will be representing himself in the case, an unprecedented and possible overextension of the office of Solicitor General; no president has been himself party in a high-profile lawsuit since Bush v. Gore after the elections of 2000, and having the Solicitor General represent a sitting president himself, and not the federal government as a whole, is something completely new. Politicians of all stripes have been making statements about the fact that he has been sued; many of his proponents, such as Vice President Barack Obama, have declared the court case "silly" and "not of any substance" and Elizabeth Warren, Attorney General, has said that "it is a personal insult to the President's integrity to make such an accusation." Opponents of the President, such as the leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative Mark Jamison Sheppard, have supported Kaine and Holton, saying that they are "evidence of the complete lack of morality that the President currently has." Excerpt from the Bismarck Tribune, June 2010 SHOOTING AT STATE DEMOCRATIC HEADQUARTERSSHOOTERS PROCLAIM SYMPATHY WITH PARKERBISMARCK - At 8 P.M. last night, shooters broke into the offices of the North Dakota Democratic-Nonpartisan League Party headquarters on East Divide Avenue and killed at least twenty at the building before being captured and pacified by Bismarck Police. The shooters, Marcus Cameron, 21, Julian Walton, 27, and George Oxford, 22, had invaded the building by opening fire with machine guns and shotguns acquired illegally through unknown sources. Once inside the building, the three gunmen opened fire, killing the twenty people and causing at least forty other injuries. Bismarck Police have revealed that the three were posting on the video website YouTube, where they were making and displaying videos that proclaimed their sympathies with the terrorist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, the man who currently is holding hostage Ignatio Mobius, the Harvard biologist that claims to have invented a cure for the H1N1 Swine Flu virus. In these videos, the gunmen have proclaimed: "The insidious organization, the Brotherhood of Nod, is using the Democratic Party, both national and state organizations, to advance its godless agenda and continue with the destruction of traditional American values throughout the nation, remaking it in their bastardized progressive image. They want to take our guns, murder our children, and defile the sanctity of marriage. This is why we will fight to see their reign of terror ended." This is the first of what many fear to be a coming wave of arch-conservative domestic terrorist attacks throughout the country that are opposed to the Brotherhood of Nod and the current President, Tim Kane, widely held to be the organization's leader. Conservatives throughout the country have been rallying under a variety of banners, but most prominent of them is the Guarding Democracy Initiative, led by the former general Mark Jamison Sheppard. Sheppard has been cited by Parker and the gunmen here as an inspiration, but he himself has denied all responsibility for "the despicable and violent actions of terrorists." Excerpt from the Washington Post, July 2010 BROTHERHOOD MEMBERS FLOCK TO CONFLICT-STRICKEN CITIESBISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA - James Gutierrez is from Los Angeles, California, and has never left the general West Coast region. He is the child of Mexican immigrants and feels very little in common with those from the Midwest, from smaller cities and towns, mostly Republican as opposed to the Democratic strongholds of his home state of California. But he has, like many from the West Coast and indeed across the nation, flocked to Bismarck, North Dakota, like others are going to Tampa and Atlanta. He is a firm believer in the teachings of the Brotherhood of Nod, the faction of the Democratic Party that preaches "peace through power" and "Brotherhood. Unity. Peace," messages that resound with the liberal youth of today. Ironically, those following the deeply conservative tenets of the domestic terrorist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker are quite similar in the belief in that force is the only way to enforce the will of the people. Parker has said in his videos, filmed in an unknown location, that "the Revolutionaries that founded this nation did not lie prostrate against tyranny. Why should we?" Supporters of Parker, who often sing high praise of the Guarding Democracy Initiative led by Mark Jamison Sheppard (who, being a mainstream politician, refuses to have anything to do with them). They pray to God every Sunday and keep their guns in perfect working order. These young people are among the many locals of Bismarck, North Dakota, that are rallying against the members of the Brotherhood that have come to "secure order and peace in America." Throughout the past month, Bismarck has seen frightening amounts of sectarian violence. Two weeks ago, a shootout in the city's Sertoma Park killed fourteen people, and riots thereafter killed at least a hundred and fifty, leaving shops in ruins and their merchandise scattered all over the street. A local, Elizabeth Kirchenbauer, has said that "Bismarck is no longer a peaceful city. It is a war zone." Several other incidences of violence like that at Sertoma Park have broken out in the city, and several hundred are dead due to it. The Bismarck Police have been overwhelmed by the fighting; fifty officers have died in the chaos. Only yesterday did the Governor of North Dakota, John Hoeven, order the North Dakota Army National Guard to be deployed to the streets to quell the violence. Infantry and tanks regularly patrol the streets of the city, and yet the extremists on both sides of the political spectrum refuse to compromise and give way to one another. Similar occurrences are happening in Atlanta, Georgia, and Tampa, Florida, but due to the control of the cities by the US military, such violence is far more muted. Excerpt from the New York Times, August 2010 Redmond Boyle: the Man Behind GDIPITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - After a Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI) rally in the city in an attempt to stir up support for the movement for its various campaigns for Congress come November, serious doubts have been cast over the sincerity of the movement due to its near-constant funding by the Boyle Holdings CEO Redmond Boyle, a noted conservative activist and spokesperson, known particularly for his investment in the financial sector throughout the United States. He is an investment banker that has funded several industrial and infrastructure projects throughout the country, and has campaigned quite vehemently for Republican candidates in various states. With the growth of GDI as a mainstream, albeit controversial, political movement, Boyle has thrown his weight behind the movement and has heavily supported its leader, Mark Jamison Sheppard, as well as other members of the organization. Boyle at a press conference after the rally at Pittsburgh.Boyle has contributed an unknown, but astronomically large, amount of funds to GDI and to campaigns of Republican candidates, such as to Sheppard's own in Oklahoma City for its election to the House of Representatives, and to other GDI candidates such as William Frank, Michael McNeil, and Jack Granger. Large amounts of advertisements have been made in their favor, using funds donated by Boyle Holdings. It has been noted by electoral statisticians that percentage points for Republican candidates surged in polling after receiving donations from Boyle. Skeptics have accused of using GDI to his own political ends; many liberal figures have compared him to a puppet master controlling the Initiative to benefit his own business goals. Pro-business legislation and low minimum wages are both points supported by GDI, and Boyle himself has spoken in favor of such policies, including the implementation of a flat tax for all businesses. Sheppard has also promised to weaken environmental and labor regulations, something that Boyle has remained silent on. Thusly, the Democratic Party has slammed him for being against the "general well-being" of the American people, and said that his usage of money is counter to the purposes of Democracy (they are also careful to note that the rally in Pittsburgh was funded by Boyle). Excerpt from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, September 2010 KAINE, HOLTON FOUND DEAD IN CAR CRASHSTRASBURG - Timothy Kaine, the man who claims that the President stole his identity during the 1980s to support a political career, and A. Linwood Holton, former governor of Virginia, have been found dead in a car crash in Strasburg, Virginia, in Shenandoah County in the Appalachians. Also dead is Kaine's wife Anne Holton, the daughter of the former governor. This crash comes at a time when Kaine and Holton, among certain other individuals, claim that the current President, Tim Kane, the leader of the Brotherhood of Nod Faction of the Democratic Party, stole his identity for his political career, and forced, using threats of violence and financial ruin, to keep them quiet. Kaine, Holton, and the other persons involved in the scandal have recently revealed their otherwise unrevealed stories regarding such coercion, saying that this was the only time they could do something about it before the President becomes more entrenched in his office. The death comes at a time when Kaine and Holton have opened up a lawsuit in a Virginia court against the President of the United States; the latter has appointed the Solicitor General of the United States, Elena Kagan, to act as his personal lawyer for the case. The deaths of these individuals is devastating to the possibility of the accusation winning, as the rest of the group, who has not been named otherwise, has little chance of proving their case to a Virginia court. The crash was with a large commercial truck carrying furniture to a local store, and was thrown onto its side, causing a large pileup on the street. Shenandoah County Police secured the area and permitted cars to pass through in a controlled and efficient manner. County police state that the passengers were killed instantly. The driver of the truck, Joseph Jarvis, survived the incident and was brought under police custody, being held in Woodstock, the county seat of Shenandoah County. The fact that Jarvis survived while the President's accusers died has been subject to intense controversy; information found on the internet revealing that Jarvis is a member of a local Brotherhood of Nod organization in Winchester has only raised the stakes considerably. Mark Jamison Sheppard, the national leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, has said that the crash was likely orchestrated by the administration to "deflect a possible removal of their power." President Kane has announced that "he regrets the death of these people but maintains his belief that they were lying." Excerpt from the Washington Post, September 2010 MOBIUS RESCUED BY SEAL TEAMATLANTA, GEORGIA - A team from the Navy Seals has rescued Ignatio Mobius, the scientist that was kidnapped by the extremist Nick 'Havoc' Parker in a farmer's field near Eatonton, Putnam County, Georgia, while being held by militants loyal to Parker. However, Parker himself was not found, suggesting that the renegade has been operating somewhere at least not in Putnam County, if not in Georgia entirely. The group's operations in Tampa, Florida have cast doubt on the possibility that he even has a central base of operation. Mobius seems generally satisfied with his escape, saying that, despite his vocal grievances with the Kane administration, he is still willing to work with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for the sake of stopping diseases. Mobius, a Harvard virologist, had seemed to have created a cheap and effective cure for the Swine Flu, an epidemic which has subsided due to his work. However, his opposition to ObeliskCare, the healthcare law passed by Congress and spearheaded by President Kane himself, was thought to mean that he would sympathize with the violent methods of Parker's cause. Mobius has refused to support Parker's methods, saying the following: "I may be a conservative but I do not support the butchery of innocents. We as a nation are better than this and thusly it must be opposed. Parker is not a conservative; he is a reactionary and a terrorist, just like the people that caused the September 11th attacks. This man deserves no support, and those that are violent in support of conservatism are horrendously misguided." Mobius has said that, after taking care of his personal life after being incarcerated for so long, he will resume his position at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alphonse Giraud has said that he "welcomes back Dr. Mobius and fully understands the need to recuperate and organize himself. His contributions to the field of virology have been invaluable to the combatting of the H1N1 flu, and has wider implications. Science now has one of its modern masters back." Excerpt from the New York Times, October 2010 REPUBLICANS SEEM POISED TO TAKE CONGRESSOMAHA, NEBRASKA - Public opinion polls conducted by Gallup, Incorporated, have revealed that the Republican Party is likely to gain control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the coming midterm elections next month. The Guarding Democracy Initiative, the firebrand sect of the Republican Party and the foremost right-wing activist group in the country, has nominated several candidates in Republican Primaries, and many of those have won. Initiative leaders such as Mark Jamison Sheppard (former commander of coalition forces in Iraq), Michael McNeil, William Frank, and several others throughout the nation. GDI's significant public support in conservative areas is bolstered by the funding provided by the activist and businessman Redmond Boyle, Chief Executive Officer of Boyle Enterprises, a large holding company based in Lexington, Kentucky. Boyle's financial aid for GDI is believed to have given them a large edge against Democrats in key areas, and is influencing the national polling. Democrats, led by the sect known as the Brotherhood of Nod, have suffered in the polls due to radically progressive legislation currently being vocally supported. The Universal Healthcare Act, otherwise known more poetically as ObeliskCare, is being criticized by small businesses as threatening dwindling profits and an increased inability to hire more workers, the opposite of the stated goal of the current administration. Similarly, proposals for steep tax hikes and a particularly large increase for the corporate tax rate. Progressive social legislation, such as the Marriage Equality Act currently being debated, is also seen as damaging Democratic credibility in conservative areas and swing states. Most damning for the Democrats, however, is President Tim Kane's handling of riots in Atlanta, where several activists were killed in Piedmont Park in that city. This is in conjunction with the military occupation of Atlanta and Tampa, Florida, two cities in which it is known that the renegade Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker has attacked, killing substantial amounts of people in both cases. The current president is seen as grossly mishandling the crises in these cities, and causing worrisome threats to civil liberties. Excerpt from the Washington Post, November 2010 REPUBLICANS TAKE SENATE GDI RECIEVES PLURALITY OVERALL, HOUSE REMAINS WITH NOD, DEMOCRATS
WASHINGTON, D.C. - In a stunning turn of events in the recent elections for Congress, the Republican Party has taken a majority of seats on the Senate, while the Democratic Party has remained in control of the House of Representatives. Of particular note is, despite the retention of House of Representatives by the Democrats, the Republicans, with a significant portion of them belonging to the radical conservative organization the Guarding Democracy Initiative, led by the new House Minority Leader Mark Jamison Sheppard of Oklahoma. Sheppard has addressed this victory in a speech to the Republican National Convention in Alexandria, Virginia, and said that this election is a "key step in returning liberty and prosperity to the American Nation." He further elaborated on his views with the following: "The Kane Agenda is coming ever closer to destroying the principles that the founders of this nation had mandated for us during the beginning of their great crusade for liberty. Kane is a charlatan, a tyrant, and a liar and thusly will not renege. We have won a great victory against the evils of liberalism and progressivism, but the fight is far from over. In 2012, we need to win the Presidency and the House of Representatives." Current Speaker of the House Farouk Hassan (D-NY) has expressed worry at the coming deadlock. "Any problems that we might have had before," said Hassan at a press conference in New York City, "will be exacerbated substantially due to the current state of divided government. The voters in the various states of the Union have made an egregious error in electing these people to office." President Kane has made similar remarks: "It is times like these when the cynics who feel that this nation has lost its way begin to make frightening amounts of sense to me. All the progress we have made, on universal healthcare, on marriage equality, on reproductive rights, on the minimum wage, ALL OF IT SEEMS WASTED AWAY. Since we no longer have the cooperation of the Senate, America's way to ascension has been delayed significantly. I fear for the future of America." Excerpt from the Washington Post, January 2012 SHEPPARD ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL RUNWIDELY EXPECTED TO HAVE MOST OF GDI BACKING HIMCOLUMBUS, OHIO - Mark Jamison Sheppard, the current House Minority Leader and a representative of a seat in Oklahoma, the former leader of coalition forces in Iraq, and the leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, the large right-wing organization that has increasingly come to dominate the Republican Party, has formally announced his bid for the Office of the Presidency of the United States of America in a crowded assembly hall in Columbus, Ohio. The choice of venue undoubtedly is related to the fact that the state is a common predictor of the presidential election, and thusly the Republicans are attempting to court the voters in that state as much as possible. Sheppard joins Republican candidates Jon Huntsman, former Governor of Utah, Rick Santorum, former Senator from Pennsylvania, Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and former representative from Georgia, and Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts, in the contest for the party's nomination for the Presidency. It is widely expected to be a competitive race, but Sheppard is expected to have a wide base of support in the rural South and Midwest. In his speech to the crowds in Columbus, Sheppard spoke of the need to "bring America back to its founding principles. We are a Christian Nation and have never been anything but that until the terrorist Kane stole the presidency from my good associate Mike Huckabee four years ago." In subsequent parts of this speech, he denounced the strides towards universal healthcare, nationally recognized same-sex marriage, and gun control legislation passed during the previous year. Sheppard's entry is no surprise to the various political pundits analyzing the playing field for November's election. It has been reported that the campaign staff of President Kane is worried that Sheppard could become the frontrunner. Official Democratic National Committee press releases deny that such fears are being held by the party. Excerpt from the New York Times, March 2012 HASSAN ANNOUNCES PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNDEMOCRATIC PARTY MAY WELL BE SPLITBROOKLYN - Speaker of the House of Representatives and representative of New York's Sixth Congressional District in the House of Representatives Farouk Hassan has announced his pursuit of the nomination for president of the Democratic Party. This comes at a time when President Kane has been attempting to secure his reelection to the presidency, as the rise of prominent Republicans such as Mark Jamison Sheppard and Jon Huntsman has threatened to take the presidency from a Brotherhood of Nod that is widely beginning to be seen as floundering in its unabashed progressivism. The passage of the Universal Healthcare Act, otherwise known as ObeliskCare, was passed in a heavily watered-down form last July, but it allows for many religious exemptions for businesses and other entities, as well as withdrew the regional system called for the original plan. The Marriage Equality Act was defeated, but a series of court cases, culminating in Lawton v. Texas, found that it was up to the states on whether to legalize same-sex marriage. Other similar failures on the behalf of the Democrats have happened due to the newly prominent Republican senate, as well as Sheppard's position as House Minority Leader, supporting such conservative causes. Hassan maintains that the progress being made towards what the Brotherhood of Nod calls "Ascension" has been diluted by Kane. "Kane is a liar and a charlatan," said Hassan in a speech in Philadelphia, "and he must be removed and be replaced by a real progressive. I think that I can be one of those progressives." Many in Congress have supported Hassan over Kane, but the latter still enjoys significant support among the Brotherhood; his status as the 'Messiah,' as many have dubbed him, has not been supplanted by the likes of Hassan. "Hassan is a traitor to all of America," said Kane in a speech in Baltimore. "Anyone who votes for him is a heretic to the cause of the Brotherhood." Excerpt from the Washington Post, April 2012 OCCUPIED CITIES POLLING SHOWS SLIGHT DEMOCRATIC MAJORITYREPUBLICANS GAINING GROUNDNEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - Polling by Gallup has revealed that in military-occupied cities throughout the country, President Tim Kane and his administration are still reasonably popular despite the fact that he was the man that ordered the military into their cities. However, support for both the Republican Party and the Speaker of the House Farouk Hassan, a Democratic competitor to the President, has risen given that some of these cities have been under occupation for over a year now. Atlanta was the first city to be put under occupation after terrorist attacks by Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, a right-wing terrorist still on the run from authorities and operating somewhere in the rural South. Similar attacks in Tampa required a similar course of action. Later attacks in Birmingham, Jackson, Memphis, Charlotte, Raleigh, Charleston, Little Rock, Houston, and other Southern cities required them to be put under military administration. Other cities in the country, such as Bismarck, North Dakota, and Billings, Montana, had also been put under military rule due to mass civilian instability. Hassan in particular has been campaigning among the occupied cities, promising a "complete withdrawal and federal compensation" for what he deems a "crime against civil liberties." Rallies in Memphis and Mobile have drawn large crowds for Hassan, and smaller crowds at St. Louis and Baton Rouge. However, Kane still remains popular among many other segments of society, and support for the military continues. "I don't feel safe without the military now, given all that GDI has done," said Mary Peterson, a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi, who supports the continued military presence. "It keeps the terrorists away and our people safe." Republicans have also made speeches in the occupied cities, but far fewer; they are alleging local governments are denying permits for them to give speeches. Nevertheless, Mark Jamison Sheppard in particular has been eager to campaign in these cities. "This is a crime against America," said Sheppard in a speech in Beaumont, Texas. "This is a crime against the Constitution and a crime against the Revolutionary principles that this nation was founded upon." Polling shows that Sheppard has sixty percent of support for Republican candidates in occupied cities. Excerpt from the New York Times, May 2012 SHEPPARD ALL BUT VICTORIOUS IN REPUBLICAN NOMINATION
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA - Mark Jamison Sheppard, former Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq and 2008's Republican Vice Presidential Candidate, and the current House Minority Leader, is the sole candidate of the Republican Party for the Presidency, after Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts, dropped out. "It has become clear to me that America wants something beyond simply the average conservative candidate," said Romney in a speech to supporters in Buffalo, New York. "Sheppard is certainly unorthodox, and perhaps he is what the country needs right now." Sheppard gave a rousing speech in his hometown of Oklahoma City, parts of which he represents as a member of the House of Representatives, where he proclaimed the "call to conservatives throughout the entirety of this great nation from San Diego to Bangor, from Miami to Fairbanks, to take this country back from the tyrants-to-be who call themselves the Brotherhood of Nod." Members of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, the conservative group that Sheppard leads, have been celebrating this occurrence, touting it as the triumph over the Bush-style neoconservatism that brought the United States into two foreign wars. Sheppard has been backed significantly by the chief executive officer of Boyle Holdings, Redmond Boyle of Atlanta, Georgia. Large amounts of Boyle Holdings funds have been given to the Guarding Democracy Initiative, and his funding has been cited as a significant boost to GDI in the 2010 midterm congressional elections, leading to Republican control of the Senate and a substantial minority in the House of Representatives. Democrats have become very worried due to Sheppard's ascendancy, as he has been attracting grassroots support from various parts of the country, including traditional Democratic strongholds. President Kane has said that Sheppard is a "charlatan," and Speaker of the House Farouk Hassan has said that he is a "bigot and tool of the CEOs." Excerpt from the Montgomery Advertiser, Montgomery, Alabama, June 2012 KANE ASSASSINATED BY HAVOC OBAMA ASSUMES PRESIDENCY
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - President Timothy "Tim" Kane, the leader of the Brotherhood of Nod faction of the Democratic Party, has been killed by the far-right terrorist Nicholas 'Havoc' Parker, the man known for committing deadly attacks in cities throughout the American South since 2010. Kane was in Birmingham campaigning for the Presidency and giving a speech in Regions Field, the largest baseball stadium in Birmingham, when he was killed. Parker had acquired, through unknown channels, a form of military-grade rifle of unknown make and model. In the stadium, Parker was somehow able to evade large security details and enter the venue, walked up to the stand where the President was giving his speech. He brandished his rifle, yelled "Got a present for ya!" and then fired at the President's head, killing him instantly. Parker subsequently said "That was left-handed!" in a boast. Security footage revealed that such a shot was indeed made with his left hand. Vice President Barack Obama has ascended to the presidency, announcing "a week of mourning for our deceased President." Obama said that, in Kane's memory, he will not be pursuing the Democratic nomination for President, saying that "it would reek of exploitation of his legacy" to do so. Parker was captured after fleeing from the stadium by the infantry garrison that occupies Birmingham and has since a bombing in 2011. The terrorist was taken into custody and is expected to be tried within the next few months. The nation, Democrats in particular, have been mourning the death of the President. "He was going to lead America to ascension," said a commentator on the streets of Birmingham in an impromptu memorial service. "All the hard work he did for us will be lost to GDI!" Republicans have been general cold on the subject, issuing brief statements of mourning and not much else. The Guarding Democracy Initiative in particular has been quiet. Mark Jamison Sheppard, the leader of the Republican organization, has said nothing on the assassination. Excerpt from the New York Times, June 2012 Hassan assumes Democratic NominationBUFFALO - In a crowd of Brotherhood of Nod supporters, Speaker of the House of Representatives Farouk Hassan announced that he would likely be the Democratic nominee for President given the assassination of the party favorite, President Tim Kane of Virginia. Hassan said that "I do not wish to ride on the coattails of a fallen leader of the Brotherhood, but the grand mission of ascension for this country, indeed all the world, is of the utmost necessity. Our party cannot fall to the bigots and covert terrorists being nominated by the Republicans; the Brotherhood must move forwards." Hassan said this as the nation is mourning or celebrating the death of a particularly divisive President, whose violent suppression of riots in various cities throughout America using the military, effectively placing these cities under occupation, have brought him great criticism, while programs such as those started under the Universal Healthcare Act and the legalization of same-sex marriage nationwide in 2011 have brought him great praise from other groups. A deeply partisan president, he led the Brotherhood of Nod the sect of the Democratic Party, to victory in state elections in Virginia and to the Presidency of the United States. Hassan is likely to choose Representative Killian Qatar to be his vice president. Qatar had considered attempting to replace Barack Obama of Illinois as the Democratic nomination for Vice President in 2008, but ultimately decided not to. Qatar has now declared her support of Hassan in the coming election now that Kane is no longer in the race. Hassan promises the continuation of progressive policies started under the Kane administration, and has attempted to portray himself as "the Brotherhood's candidate" to woo over Kane supporters. However, he has been met with deep skepticism from many in the Democratic Party, who allege that he is insufficiently committed to the cause of ascension. Excerpt from the Philadelphia Daily News, August 2012 SHEPPARD, CRUZ FORMALLY NOMINATED AS REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES PHILADELPHIA - Mark Jamison Sheppard, the former commander of Coalition forces in Iraq, and Rafael Edward "Ted Cruz," Senator from Texas, have been formally nominated as the Republican Party's candidates for President and Vice President, respectively, in the coming elections in November. In a grand ceremony in Independence Hall, Republicans throughout the country gathered to nominate the two prominent conservative icons, both hailing from the radically conservative faction of the party, the Guarding Democracy Initiative, founded as a reaction to the stridently progressive policies of the Kane administration. There, Sheppard, called for an America that was "back on the path that the founders of this great nation intended, a land of small government, gun ownership, family values, and real patriotism that is not used to serve a tyrannical despot in chief." After several speeches from many politicians and Republican party officials, such as Cruz, GDI members Michael McNeil and Jack Granger, famed donor and head of Boyle Holdings Redmond Boyle, Governor of Texas Rick Perry, Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker, former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney, Chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus formally gave the nominations to Sheppard and Cruz. The Democratic National Convention is to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, this year, in an attempt to gain voters for in the cities currently occupied by the US military in the name of fighting far-right extremism. Farouk Hassan, current House Minority Leader, is the likely nominee for the Presidency, and Killian Qatar will be his running mate. Transcript of a CNN broadcast, August 2012 Wolf Blitzer: The Republican National Convention in Philadelphia is currently winding down, with other bureaucratic things being taken care of and other events being held by the Republicans are being sorted out. Both Sheppard and Cruz have been confirmed as the nominees. However, Redmond Boyle, a major financial backer of the Republicans and GDI, has left the convention for personal reasons and is returning to his home in New York. He has made no comments on the matter. Now, the Democrats are holding their own National Convention in Atlanta, where the likely candidates are Farouk Hassan and Killian Qatar. We go to Christine Romans at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta. Christine Roman: Morning, Wolf. Here we are in the crowds of people who are waiting for Hassan to make his acceptance speech. [Crowds of people, many in Nod regalia, are seen throughout the center] We can definitely say that people are excited to be here. Sadly, there is also a lot of disappointment at the former President being assassinated. They really wanted him to run again and lead the nation for four more years. Now for some views from the public: [She approaches a man in a Nod t-shirt among the crowd] What is your opinion on Hassan being the nomination? Are you excited? Saddened? Man: I mean, I like the Brotherhood and the Democrats, but Hassan just doesn't seem sufficiently progressive, almost as if he were a Republican pawn. I don't know, it just seems as if the Brotherhood has lost its spark without Kane. Roman: Thank you for your thoughts. As you can see, the people here are less enthused about Hassan then they have been for Kane. [The crowd cheers and a speaker leaves the stage. Onto the stage come Hassan, Qatar, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and other figures. Hassan and Qatar are given the most prominent places. Schultz walks up to the podium.] Schultz: The Democratic National Committee has now formally undertaken the vote that has formally nominated Farouk Hassan as our party's nomination for President, and Killian Qatar as our nomination for Vice President. Mr. Hassan is now going to speak for us. [Crowd cheers. Hassan takes the podium.] Hassan: My Fellow Americans, it is an honor to have been chosen as our party's nomination for President. I swear by God that I will not disappoint you and I will not disappoint the Brotherhood. Kane may have strayed from his will, but he was a leader that America needed and deserved. [Sound of doors being kicked open.] Roman: Camera, take a look back there. Those convention doors have been kicked open by somebody! [In march soldiers in US Army standard combat uniforms with the notable difference of having Brotherhood of Nod patches on them where other insignia would normally be. Among them is General Anton Slavik, guarded by more soldiers.] Roman: Is that General Slavik? Camera, zoom in on him. [Camera zooms in on Slavik as he marches on, weapon in hand.] Roman: It's definitely Slavik. I can tell now. Hassan: What is going on? I had not scheduled any military parade? [Among protestations, the soldiers march onto the stage and put Hassan, Qatar, and Schultz into handcuffs, as well as the other officials onstage. They resist but are violently forced into place. Slavik takes the podium.] Slavik: Brotherhood! We are whole again! The sickness of false prophets like Hassan has been cut out! The treason of heretics who sell us out to the Republicans, to GDI, is now vanquished! Hassan will not be allowed to take the Presidency, for Kane would not allow such an unbeliever to rise to such rank! [Slavik brandishes a knife and puts it to Hassan's throat] Slavik: In the name of Kane! Crowd: Kane lives in death! Slavik: In the name of Kane! Crowd: Kane lives in death! [The screen above the stage turns on. On it appears the face of President Kane, before thought dead.] Kane: Kane lives! [He glances to Hassan.] Rule of thumb, Hassan: you cannot overtake the Messiah in an election. [Slavik slits Hassan's throat, then slits the throats of Qatar and Schultz.] Crowd, Slavik, Soldiers: Kane lives! Kane lives! Kane lives! Kane lives! Kane lives! Kane: Behold, my people, for I have returned, never to leave your side again. GDI and the Republicans sought to destroy me, but they only have made me stronger. Today, we march forward into America's future, a stronger nation, a divine, progressive people, prepared for a new world to come! The time has come to claim this nation as our own, for our progress towards ascension must not be stopped! The time has come to destroy the Republicans! To destroy GDI! One vision! One purpose! Crowd: One vision! One purpose! Kane lives! Kane lives! Kane lives! Roman (To camera): I have no idea how this is possible! Somehow Kane is back from the dead, and he is very, very angry at the Republicans. He isn't letting up on the negative campaign rhetoric - [Soldiers approach the camera] Soldier: Turn off the camera, now! [Soldiers seize the camera and disable it.] Blitzer: Well, that was exciting. Kane's apparently alive and he presumably, guessing by his speech, that he wants to run for President. [An aid approaches Blitzer and whispers something in his ear. He nods.] (shakened) If what my aid is telling me is true, apparently forces of the military have arrested many Republican members of Congress, and other forces have marched on state capitols nation wide. [The aid comes back and whispers something else in Blitzer's ear] (even more shaken) A new report has just come in saying that a nuclear blast has obliterated Philadelphia. What has the world come to? [segment ends] Excerpt from Stars and Stripes, August 2012 A LETTER FROM GENERAL ODIERNO: URGENT FOR ALL ENLISTED MENThe recent events that have transpired in Atlanta, Washington, and Philadelphia show that the current administration has gone against its sacred oaths of office, to defend the Constitution of the United States. It is clear that President Kane somehow faked his death to assume dictatorial power over the country and destroyed Philadelphia to bring down the major political opposition, the Guarding Democracy Initiative, killing their leaders, including a General, Mark Jamison Sheppard, under whom I served in Iraq. This president is simply the most evil man to ever hold the office; the millions dead in Philadelphia, could they attest to this, would do so with grim enthusiasm. America is a country founded upon the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, not the arrest of political opposition, as Kane has ordered the military to do, as he has ordered the suspension of state legislatures and governments. This is exactly what the British did to spark our war of independence. General Anton Slavik, another man who commanded the force in Iraq, now leads the forces of our service who have also forsaken their oaths. He is leading the charge to destroy America and the values that our nation is founded upon, for whatever perverted purpose that they have in mind. The entire military is split between those loyal to Nod and those loyal to America. We, the men and women of the United States Army, swore to defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. These people are clearly the domestic enemy. They are not weak, they are not terrorists, they are an organized fighting force with the best weaponry in the world. But so are we. This is, plain and simple, the beginning of the Second American Civil War. Hope to whatever deity you believe in that you will not have to fight a member of your family, much as families were divided a hundred and fifty years ago. But we have our oath, and we have our mission. The fight for America begins today. Excerpt from the Washington Post BOYLE NOW LEADER OF GDI; PLEDGES COOPERATION WITH ODIERNOPITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - Redmond Boyle, CEO of Boyle Holdings and backer of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, has been chosen as the organization's new leader in the light of the nuclear destruction of Philadelphia and the degradation of our country's political stability into civil war. Boyle has said that he will lead GDI to help the conservative military forces under the command of Raymond T. Odierno, the Chief of Staff of the United States Army, to overthrow the rightfully elected government of President Tim Kane, who somehow faked his death. Despite the latter's deception, he is still the President; he was elected by the people and so deserves that office. Traitors like Odierno and Boyle are likely to only cause more suffering and death nationwide as the far-right elements of GDI and the military threaten to end democracy as we know it. President Kane has spoken thusly, and has issued an executive order calling for the arrest of Boyle, Odierno, and other traitorous figures. Boyle has said that he will "restore America to its rightful status as the inheritors of the founding fathers and the liberty that they enshrined in documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution." Boyle was chosen as the new leader only because of the former leader, former General and House Majority Leader Mark Jamison Sheppard, died in the blast that consumed Philadelphia. As a corporate backer, his choice reflects the corporate nature of the movement, which intends to subvert democracy by buying out as many members of Congress as possible. Shortly thereafter, Boyle appeared with Odierno in a press conference heavily guarded by the rebels; most of Western Pennsylvania has fallen under rebel control, as has most of the central portion of the state; areas north and east of Harrisburg are generally under control of the government of the United States and allied militias affiliated with the Brotherhood of Nod. Boyle spoke for the need of "the continuation of the war to depose this despot" and to "restore the Constitution," and lambasted Kane as a "liar and a mass murderer." However, loyalists to Kane and the rightful government, such as General Anton Slavik, have defended the President and have engaged rebel forces nationwide.

Excerpt from the Times of London, September 2012 UNITED NATIONS MOVES TO GENEVA, ESTABLISHES NEW ORGANIZATION TO DEAL WITH AMERICAN CRISISGENEVA, SWITZERLAND - The United Nations under Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has finished its withdrawal from New York City after Security Council and General Assembly votes that have confirmed such a move, and has settled down in Geneva, Switzerland, a longstanding haven of neutrality and diplomacy. Several other organizations related to the United Nations have withdrawn from the United States after the nuclear destruction of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the country's subsequent degeneration into civil war between loyalist and rebel factions. Speaking in Geneva, Ban spoke of the need to "restore peace to the United States at all costs," saying that such a country that has "done so much for humanity" needs to be brought to justice. He condemned extremism on both sides of the conflict for civilian atrocities, and particularly sternly rebuke the administration for destroying the city of Philadelphia for partisan reasons. Other world leaders have been stern in such condemnations. In the same press conference, Ban announced the formation of the Special Commission on Reclamation and Integration of Nations, a new organization dedicated to ending civil wars and humanitarian crises in all nations of the world, but was formed specially considering the case of the United States. The new organization, abbreviated SCRIN, is headed by a consortium of diplomats and military personnel to evaluate the American situation. Many throughout the world have called for a military intervention in the United States. Prime Minister David Cameron has been among the most vocal proponent of such, saying that "President Kane has clearly gone rogue. He must be deposed to further the cause of world peace." Similar statements have been made from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Hu Jintao, both of whom have offered to contribute forces to a theoretical invasion force sponsored by SCRIN. Excerpt from the Times of London, October 2012 SCRIN ANNOUNCES FORCE DEPLOYMENT TO USACAMERON PLEDGES SUPPORTGENEVA, SWITZERLAND - The United Nations Special Committee on Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN), the current authority with command over United Nations peacekeepers, has come to a conclusion that military intervention is necessary in the United States of America's current civil war between government and rebel factions. This civil war, started after the nuclear destruction of the city of Philadelphia by government forces, the site of a national convention for the purpose of nominating the opposition party's candidate for the nation's president, has rapidly spiraled out of control, and fighting between various factions affiliated with either the US government, run by the Democratic Party and the influential sect the Brotherhood of Nod, and the rebel groups, most affiliated with the Republican Party and its own radical conservative sect the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI). Partisan politics pre-war were very divisive in the United States and have only recently descended into civil war. The President elected in 2008, Tim Kane of the Brotherhood of Nod, is the proclaimed leader of the Brotherhood of Nod and has refused to give up power. Kane survived, by unknown methods, an assassination attempt in Birmingham, Alabama, and appeared in his party's convention in Atlanta, Georgia, where he personally killed his competitors for the nomination. Prime Minister Cameron has, during the most recent Prime Ministers' Questions session in the Palace of Westminster, announced that he will be introducing a bill to the House of Commons to provide SCRIN with the "full might of the British armed forces." This bill has been endorsed by the leader of the opposition Ed Miliband, who spoke of a "humanitarian need to intervene in this crisis," and by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg. With the support of all three major parties in Parliament, the bill is widely expected to pass. Polls of the British population have shown that eighty-five percent of the surveyed public supports some kind of intervention. President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao, Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, and President of France Francois Hollande have all made statements similar to Cameron pledging support to SCRIN for an intervention in the United States. Casualty numbers by this point are estimated at one million deaths and four million injured, most of them civilians in heavily populated urban areas. Weapons of Mass Destruction have not yet been used but are expected to be used shortly. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has stated that the command structure of the mission to the United Nations will have a unique nomenclature, which has unnerved many military personnel. The ultimate commander of the mission will be designated the 'supervisor' of the mission, and will report back to Geneva regarding the progress of the mission. Individual commanders will be known as 'foremen,' reflecting the emphasis on rebuilding infrastructure in conflict-stricken areas. These titles are designed to emphasize this focus on infrastructure, and to avoid "being perceived as a conquering army." Excerpt from the Chronicle Herald, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, November 2012 SCRIN FORCES LAND IN HALIFAX, ST. JOHNSOTHER DEPLOYMENTS IN ONTARIOCHETICAMP - Forces under the command of the Special Commission on Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN) have landed in Cheticamp and in other towns throughout Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. These forces, hailing from mostly European countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, are preparing for the pacification of the United States' current civil war between government and rebel factions. Parliament has already signed off on the legislation allowing Canadian forces to engage in SCRIN operations; ever since the war broke out, Canadian forces have been on high alert; border checkpoints and ports have been put under increased scrutiny. Prime Minister Harper and other members of the Conservative Party have been criticized by some for what is perceived as the very same thing that the United States did after the September 11th attacks on New York City and Arlington, Virginia, seat of the Pentagon, the command building of the United States Secretary of Defense, currently held by government forces under President Tim Kane. The commander of the incoming forces, British Lieutenant General John Lorimer, has set up his command in Halifax, and military officials from the other militaries have arrived and established subsidiary commands throughout Nova Scotia. Naval ships from these countries are docked in Halifax Harbor, and air bases are being established in New Brunswick and the southern part of Nova Scotia. Logistics officers from Europe are being stationed throughout the Maritimes and in eastern Quebec along the St. Lawrence River. Canadian military forces are currently massing in Ontario in the areas around Toronto and Windsor, and SCRIN overseers have been flowing into the area to oversee the organization of forces for what is speculated to be a strike on Detroit, or at least a defensive gesture for either side who may dare spill violence over to Ontario. The vast majority of Canadian military forces are in Southeastern Ontario, minus a sizeable detachment in the Vancouver metropolitan area. All of these forces, Prime Minister Harper has maintained, will be under the SCRIN mission's command structure. Excerpt from the Seattle Times, December 2012 SCRIN FORCES INVADE ALASKABOMBING CAMPAIGNS FROM EASTERN RUSSIA, AIRCRAFT CARRIERANCHORAGE - Forces under the command of the United Nations Special Commission on Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN) have began their invasion of Alaska from bases in eastern Russia. These forces, hailing from Russia, Japan, South Korea, and China, have been charged by the SCRIN headquarters in Geneva to eliminate rebel strongholds in Alaska and clear the state from GDI. Alaska has been a GDI stronghold since the rise of the movement, where General Mark Jamison Sheppard went multiple times to encourage support in that state. A conservative state, it voted for Huckabee and Sheppard in 2008 and was projected to vote for Sheppard in 2012 before the outbreak of our current civil war. The Russian Air Force, with support of other air forces, has been conducting bombing campaigns in the Alaskan bush to clear US military emplacements under control of the rebels; they have been ordered to avoid areas loyal to the government. Additionally, the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetzov has been deployed in the Gulf of Alaska, with escorts, to conduct strategic bombing of targets in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau. Russian forces have landed on the Seward Peninsula and have established a foothold in the town of Shishmaref and a supply station in the town of Wales, the latter of which is also being used as a fueling station for Russian ships bound for the coast of the Arctic Sea. Russian infantry and armor have already engaged rebel forces on the Seward Peninsula with what Russian President Vladimir Putin has described as "stunning success." The objective of the landing is to seize the city of Fairbanks, then to focus southward and take Anchorage. Chinese marines and naval forces have been busy taking control of the Aleutian islands from rebel forces, while allowing loyalist forces to remain as they are; President Kane has currently issued no statements regarding the SCRIN intervention. Additionally, Canadian forces have been seen massing in the Cassiar Mountains in British Columbia, in what has been speculated to be a planned assault on Juneau. Excerpt from the Seattle Times, January 2013 CANADIANS TAKE JUNEAU AS SCRIN OFFENSIVE CONTINUESJUNEAU - Canadian forces under the command of Brigadier General W. D. Eyre have successfully taken the city of Juneau, as part of the United Nations' Special Commission on Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN)'s mission to pacify the United States in its current civil war. These troops, deployed from the Cassiar mountains in the western province of British Columbia, took Juneau from GDI-controlled militias equipped with military equipment that was seized by rebellious soldiers. GDI was expelled from the Alaskan state capital by an initial series of airstrikes by the Russian Air Force from the carrier Admiral Kuznetzov, stationed in the Gulf of Alaska, and then subsequently beaten in an engagement that moved throughout the city. GDI was sent running to the islands in the Alaska Panhandle, where it is likely that Russian or Canadian troops will take them out for good. This comes at a time when SCRIN is descending upon Alaska and other parts of the United States controlled by GDI. An international coalition of forces has been making aerial strikes on rebel strongholds in New England and New York, and forces stationed in the Ontario Panhandle have taken control of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Other forces, mostly from the European states of NATO, have taken control of the formerly rebel-controlled cities of Fargo, Bismarck, Sioux Falls, Pierre, Helena, and Billings, and there is an active campaign in Idaho for control of Boise. Despite initial fears, SCRIN has been focusing on GDI and has made no attacks on forces loyal to the US government. However, President Kane has made no attempt to form an alliance with SCRIN, and likewise SCRIN has made clear little desire to work with the US government. It is known that many in the United Nations view the current President, Tim Kane, as a war criminal for the nuclear destruction of Philadelphia, where the former leader of GDI, Mark Jamison Sheppard, was killed during the Republican National Convention. The mission of SCRIN, as stated during many press conferences by UN authorities, is for the reintegration of the United States into the world economic setup. The world economy has been sent reeling after the outbreak of the war, and thusly the UN sees a distinct need to see it end. Excerpt from the Washington Post, February 2013 KANE DECLARES WAR ON SCRINCONGRESS APPROVES IN MAJORITY VOTE - FORCES ENGAGE INVADERSWASHINGTON - In what has been heavily debated throughout loyalist regions, President Tim Kane formally declared war, with the majority approval of both houses of Congress, to declare war on the nations of the United Nations Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN). Kane decried the SCRIN nations as "enemies of the United States" who have "violated our national sovereignty." Shortly after the declaration of war, US forces launched aerial assaults on SCRIN forces in Canada, leaving bases in Michigan, New England, and Washington State, and other forces have opened fire on SCRIN forces in the Rocky Mountain states. General Anton Slavik has been put in charge of the entire United States Armed Forces with the intent of "expelling invaders of this great nations from its homeland." SCRIN forces were sent to the United States with the intention of combatting GDI; they maintained their stern neutrality when their forces passed US government bases. Now, this has changed, and SCRIN has been caught completely off guard. General Valery Gerasimov, the commander of Russian ground forces in Alaska, has reacted with shock; he said the following in a press release: "President Kane needs to understand that we came to this country to help in his war against the rebels. Declaring war on us, those who seek to help him, is tantamount to endorsing bloodshed and death, something his country has seen more than enough of." This declaration of war has caused Russia, China, the European Union, and the United Nations, among other bodies, to formally condemn President Kane to an even greater extent after the nuclear destruction of the city of Philadelphia, and the United Nations Security Council has voted to put even more sanctions on the United States. The European Parliament, in a similar move, put heavy restrictions on commerce and travel between Europe and the United States. The Duma of Russia and the National People's Congress of China have made similar restrictions. International leaders have condemned Kane's declaration of war, issuing many harshly worded statements. Even domestically there has been criticism. Elizabeth Warren, Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Brotherhood of Nod, has denounced what the President has done as "warmongering much as Bush did." She was joined by a cadre of Senators and Representatives who, as self-proclaimed faithful members of the Brotherhood, in condemning the newly started war. In a likely unrelated incident, most of the members of the above group of congresspeople were arrested for undisclosed reasons. Excerpt from the Star-News, Chula Vista, California, March 2013 MEXICANS FIRE ARTILLERY INTO SAN DIEGO, EL PASO AIR FORCE, ARMY MAKE RETALIATORY STRIKESSAN DIEGO - Mexican forces stationed in Tijuana, working under the mission of the United Nations' Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN), have fired rockets, supplied by the Chinese government, into the San Diego metropolitan area at what is believed to be operating sites for the US Army. Mexican forces have done the same thing when stationed in Ciudad Juarez on the city of El Paso, Texas, one of the last US government strongholds in the state after the fall of Houston to GDI terrorists and insurgents. This artillery, missiles more advanced than anything the Mexican army had ever deployed before, was positioned areas in the outskirts of these cities on the recommendation of Chinese and Russian strategists. The ostensible aim was for military targets in San Diego and El Paso, but the missiles have hit heavily populated civilian areas and historical landmarks. This comes at a time shortly after Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto declared that he would be supporting SCRIN in their intervention in the United States on the basis that the anarchic state of affairs in states such as Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona benefits the drug cartels that have made life difficult in that country for decades. As such, a force composed mostly of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), with detachments from Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines, have been stationed in the Baja California peninsula and have, as part of their agreement with the Mexican government, started engaging cartel forces throughout the country. This arrangement, passed in a polarized vote in the Mexican Congress, is touted by Pena as a "peacemaking measure" for both Mexico and the United States. US forces have made air strikes into these cities and into other suspected military installations throughout northern Mexico, but causing similar civilian casualty rates to the strikes on El Paso and San Diego. Strikes have also taken place over Mexican naval bases at Ensenada, Guaymas, La Paz, Tampico, and Mazatlán, and it is believed future strikes are planned for naval bases in other parts of the country. General Anton Slavik announced that the base at Ensenada in particular was struck with more bombers than usual because of its current status as the main port for the Chinese forces in Mexico. Excerpt from the Amarillo Globe-News, Amarillo, Texas, March 2013 MEXICAN TROOPS INVADE THROUGH BORDERCLASH IN SOUTH TEXAS - VAL VERDE COUNTY COMSTOCK, VAL VERDE COUNTY - Mexican forces operating under the command of the United Nations Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN) have, in the wake of the current civil war, launched an invasion of Texas and have engaged GDI forces in the small town of Comstock in Val Verde, not far from the Seminole Canyon. These forces have been the first to march onto American land, where GDI is already trying to defend America from the forces of the now-illegitimate President Kane and his supporters in the Brotherhood of Nod. These come shortly after the bombing of El Paso and metropolitan San Diego by the Mexican Air Force and retaliatory strikes by both Kane's government and GDI on Mexican military interests. Chinese forces supported the operation with air force; other Chinese deployments are busy deployed in Mexico to both help the Mexicans and to deal with the country's problems with the cartels that have caused so much misery there, and they are rapidly expected to not be of much importance within a few months. The Mexicans were able to take Comstock after encountering resistance from local fighters. General Raymond Odierno himself has ordered that Comstock be taken "as soon as feasibly possible" to resist the possibility of a further push by the Mexicans, aided by the Chinese air strikes, into the Texan heartland. As this happened, USAF bombers flew over Comstock and engaged with Chinese fighters based in the Mexican state of Coahuila, the air base believed to be in the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains, over Comstock, and were able to destroy some Mexican vehicles and infantry formations. Kane has already called upon his forces to resist "foreign invaders" but his lack of power deployment within the state of Texas prevents him from doing much to stop them. He has, however, personally commanded his forces stationed in California and loyal parts of Arizona and New Mexico to engage all Mexican or Chinese forces that they can reach. Excerpt from the Columbus Dispatch, Columbus, Ohio, April 2013 KANE'S FORCES INVADE WINDSOR DETROIT, MICHIGAN - Forces loyal to President Tim Kane and thence the legitimate government of the United States have launched an invasion of the Canadian city of Windsor, Ontario, in hopes of stalling a potential advance of forces loyal to the Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN) stationed in the Ontario panhandle. Detroit is one of Kane's largest strongholds of support; the Brotherhood of Nod has run the country since its national debut in 2005, having won mayoral elections in that year and in 2009; elections scheduled for this year have been postponed due to the current insurrection. Brotherhood partisan forces are essential to keeping order in the city due to GDI and SCRIN subversive actions. US Air Force craft over Windsor. Bomber squadrons, with fighter escort, have pounded SCRIN positions in southwestern Ontario, destroying multiple new fortifications and military materiel. These squadrons have been based throughout the coast of Lake Erie, including southeastern Michigan and northern Ohio. General Anton Slavik himself has led the charge across the border, with his southern forces taking control of the towns of Essex, Tecumseh, Lakeshore, and Leamington, while forces to the north of Detroit based in the town of Memphis took the town of Sarnia before advancing further into Ontario and thereby securing Petrolia, Watford, Plympton-Wyoming, and Alvinston. Casualties on both sides have been high, and the usage of nuclear weapons on a Canadian city, perhaps Toronto, is becoming likely. Canadian and SCRIN air forces are using the town of Tobermory, Ontario as a base of operations, a location held to be another likely target for nuclear weapons if the circumstances grow desperate. Canadian forces have established their command posts at the town of London, Ontario, and are awaiting the American assault. Excerpt from the Moscow Times, June 2013 SATELLITE REPORTS SHOW US ARMED FORCES MOVEMENT TOWARDS CLASSIFIED NEVADA LOCATIONLAS VEGAS, NEVADA, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - Reporters from the Moscow Times in Las Vegas, supported through the Federal Security Bureau, have gleaned that large amounts of soldiers and materiel are being transferred from locations around the United States to a top secret military facility in the southern portion of the State of Nevada, known officially as either Homey Airport or Groom Lake, but has entered popular culture as the notorious Area 51, comparable to the Russian Kasputin Yar facility in Astrakhan Oblast. Satellite photograph of the facility. Satellite reports from the defense agencies of the various SCRIN nations have detected movement from both the East and West coasts of the United States into the Nevada facility. These have been observed to be military convoys with large amounts of armor and infantry with heavy weapons. Even from Washington, heavily armed and armored planes have been detected moving towards the facility. The American news media has repeatedly asked of President Kane the function of this facility, as have they asked his top general Anton Slavik; both officials have refused to make any public statements regarding the purpose of the facility beyond the following comment by Slavik: "With the current crisis on our hands and the threatened position of southern Nevada and metropolitan Las Vegas, I find it deeply disturbing, nearly treasonous, that such questions are even entertained within the minds of the news media."

Excerpt from the Moscow Times, July 2013 WAR ON THE KOREAN PENINSULANORTH MARCHES OVER BORDER; JAPAN, CHINA, RUSSIA, SOUTH KOREA DECLARE WARSEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - Kim Jong-un, the President and Dictator of North Korea, announced his country's "campaign to reunite the Korean peninsula" during a time when the "American dogs are busy murdering one another," simultaneously as the forces of the Korean People's Army invaded South Korea over the border. The current civil war in the United States forced the withdrawal of the forces stationed in South Korea; fighting broke out on military bases over which faction would control the Korean forces. However, the government forces won out and were withdrawn to Hawaii and then to California; most of them are currently fighting GDI in Nevada and Utah. This withdrawal left South Korea scrambling for defense, fearful of a North Korean invasion. This invasion happened just last night. North Korean Pokpung-Ho tank rolling through the streets of Cheorwon, near the border between the two Koreas. This invasion has met widespread condemnation from the international community; the leadership of the United Nations Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN) has announced that North Korea will be the second nation, after the United States, to be targeted for "reintegration into the world economy and society" in the words of a SCRIN spokesperson at a press conference in Geneva. President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will, in addition to its current deployments in the United States, will be supporting South Korea in its war of defense. "The current North Korean invasion will be stopped by an international force, and Russia will be among them," said the president in a statement to reporters in Tomsk. Similar statements have come from many nations; Japan and China have already deployed forces to South Korea, and the People's Liberation Army is already massing in Heilongjiang province in what is likely an invasion of North Korea. Bombing campaigns from Heilongjiang province and Primorsky Krai are currently softening up KPA forces. The war is speculate by many to be over by the end of the year. Excerpt from the Moscow Times, August 2013 SCRIN ANNOUNCES COUNTRIES, TERRITORIES TO BE 'REINTEGRATED'GENEVA - Spokespeople for the United Nations Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations have made public a list of countries that need to "cease activity that is antithetical to the cooperative spirit of the United Nations" or "are in dire need of assistance in joining the world economy." This list includes the following countries and territories: Afghanistan Iraq (Both Iraq and Afghanistan are in near-anarchy due to the American withdrawal during their Civil War) Argentina (Due to occasional statements regarding the Falklands) Venezuela Somalia Israel (regarding treatment of Palestine) Georgia (regarding treatment of Abkhazia and South Ossetia) Taiwan Haiti Chad Mali Zimbabwe (due to political repression) Uganda Democratic Republic of the Congo Central African Republic In both political and economic cases, the usage of military force by SCRIN can be decided by a majority vote of the members of that body, the most dominant being China, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and India. The published list has been found to be politically charged by many; the inclusion of Taiwan in particular, for "claiming the sovereign territory of the People's Republic of China and dividing the Chinese people" has been called the result of politicking between the various member states. The lack of inclusion of Pakistan is held to be due to the country's strategic importance in fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, and oil is the main cause, or so it is speculated, for the lack of inclusion of Saudi Arabia. Similarly, the Russian delegation to the United Nations has been criticized for the inclusion of Georgia due to the regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia; President Putin confirmed the reasoning for such a decision. Similar statements came from London regarding the status of Argentina. Excerpt from the Times of London, September 2013 PEACEKEEPING FORCES LAND IN HAITI PORT AU PRINCE, HAITI - Forces under the command of the United Nations Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN) have landed in the natural disaster-stricken Caribbean nation of Haiti with the intention of "bringing it to economic development and integration into the world economy." Brazilian forces outside of Port au Prince. This is a watershed moment for the Commission as its forces are now being deployed in countries that are not solely wracked by warfare, as its current deployments in the United States and in Korea have set the precedent. Commission leaders have said that SCRIN exists to "serve the international community by serving to eradicate the causes of poverty, violence, and war in full accordance with the United Nations Charter and the principles of national sovereignty and human liberty." Commission leaders have said that the forces of the member nations will likely be deployed to countries in the Middle East and Africa due to instability in these nations. The forces in Haiti are composed mostly of Latin American countries; the majority are from Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and Chile. The commanding officer and foreman (in the parlance of the Commission), Francisco Carlos Modesto of Brazil, has promised that the aim of the mission will be mainly to "oversee order and public works." Criticism of the mission has focused on the Commission's nature as a collaboration between mainly China, Russia, and the states of the European Union. Redmond Boyle, the current leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative, the arch-conservative terrorist group active in the United States, has said that the Commission is part of a "Communist Plot" to take over his home country. Others, such as Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, have called it an imperialist tool to "oppress poor peoples of the world." Excerpt from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, October 2013 GDI FORCE REPELLED BY NEW NOD WEAPONSBASED AT AREA 51RACHEL - GDI forces commanded by a General based out of Utah have been repelled by what have been described as gigantic walkers and other forms of new, seemingly advanced weapons. This occurrence seems to confirm the rumors of Area 51 being a weapons testing ground. GDI forces under commander Michael McNeil, formerly a party leader and member of Congress, have been repelled by forces that seem to be under the command of General Anton Slavik himself; this statement seems to be verified mainly by poor-quality video apparently recording during the battle and released on GDI websites, which seem to show Slavik in some sort of command vehicle. One of the experimental weapons deployed by Nod. The Brotherhood appeared to use various types of walkers, all armed with lasers and flamethrowers, against McNeil's forces. Still other forces include long-range laser cannons and "disappearing tanks" that fired missile barrages, than stealthily snuck away from the battlescene. Nod press organizations have been silent regarding the battle; questions were asked to President Kane by the press in a recent press conference in Washington, but he did not answer them on the basis of preserving national security. Excerpt from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, November 2013 GDI MOVES TOWARDS AREA 51BOYLE REFUSES TO GIVE STRAIGHT ANSWERRACHEL - GDI forces have been spotted in large numbers outside Rachel, Nevada, the closest civilian location to Area 51, the top-secret weapons testing facility run by the forces of the United States Government loyal to President Tim Kane. In response to reports of new government weaponry being manufactured at Area 51, GDI seems to be massing forces to put itself as the superior actor in the Nevada front; the organization has strongholds in Arizona and Utah but finds its foothold in Nevada to be at best tenuous. Large deployments of tanks, infantry, light vehicles, and aircraft have all ben seen moving into Nevada from those states. It has also been noted that many GDI strongholds in eastern California have been found empty of supplies and personnel; it has been conjectured that they have been moved to Nevada for a massive assault on Area 51. GDI tanks seen in Arizona apparently headed towards Nevada. Interviews with Redmond Boyle, the current director of GDI, have yielded no concrete answer to questions regarding troop movement in Nevada. The closest thing to a detailed answer has been the following: "All troop movements are being undertaken with the future of the United States of America in mind and a swift end to this brutal conflict that has ripped it apart." Excerpt from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, November 2013 SCRIN FORCES MOVING TOWARDS AREA 51SEEMS TO BE RACING GDI CIUDAD JUAREZ, MEXICO - Forces loyal to the United Nations Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN), currently based in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua State, Mexico have been spotted moving through Arizona, fighting both loyalist and GDI forces throughout, with the apparent objective of Area 51, the Air Force base responsible for many types of new weaponry being employed by the United States government and the Brotherhood of Nod. General Zhang Shiming, the commander of SCRIN in Mexico, has made very few statements regarding the offensive beyond an acknowledgement that the US government is "likely using the facility for research and development that cannot be allowed to continue its current state of existence without significant repercussions from the international community." Chinese fighter over Arizona operating under the auspices of SCRIN.Forces were seen crossing the border from the Mexican state of Sonora into Arizona, with air strikes bombarding various loyalist and GDI emplacements. Eyewitness accounts and satellite feeds have given the impression that Area 51 is indeed the target. Excerpt from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, November 2013 PRESIDENT KANE FLIES TO AREA 51Air Force 1 Seen over Mount Rushmore headed towards NevadaRACHEL - According to eyewitness reports in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the President of the United States, Tim Kane, is now in the clandestine air force base known as Homey Airport and Groom Lake. Air Force 1, the President's personal aircraft, has been sighted over various states of the Union and confirmed to be moving in a Westerly direction. Eyewitnesses and other sources in southern Nevada and southwestern Utah confirmed the plane's presence. The White House and other government agencies have been absolutely silent in regards to why the President is moving towards there; it is also known that on other planes the entire cabinet of the President, as well as some major leaders of the Brotherhood of Nod, are moving towards this facility. General Anton Slavik, the commander of Brotherhood and Loyalist forces in the current civil war, is defending the facility. Speculation has run rampant over the purpose of this mass visit, many having to do with some kind of superweapon that could win the war against GDI and SCRIN. All planes so far have been defended by a significant detachment of the United States Air Force, which has been instrumental in defending the President over GDI-held territory. One such incident was over South Dakota, which necessitated a detour over Mount Rushmore. Two fighter planes have been shot down in dogfights with GDI and SCRIN planes but otherwise have survived. Below is various documents part of the United Nations Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations Postwar Settlements Committee Dossier to the Security Council, published June 2014 Excerpt from the memoirs of Stephen Rowand, Guarding Democracy Initiative soldier in the Second American Civil War. Rowand fought in the Battle of Area 51. Invaders and traitors. That’s what SCRIN was and that’s what the Brotherhood was. I remember talking to Peterson one night about the war, and he said that this was partisanship gone mad. Democrats gone mad. Also the international community gone mad but that was only tangentially related to the partisanship thing. We had marched across the deserts of New Mexico and Arizona to get to Area 51; we had regular airdrops from Texas but even those weren’t enough. SCRIN bombed us from Mexico and Nod bombed us from California. We started out from Lubbock and just made this massive trek to Area 51. Boyle said it was obviously important whatever it was there. I still don’t understand what was so important about Area 51. But Kane’s no longer with us so it was truly important. We were bombed and attacked by militants in the service of Nod. I killed seventeen of them. Six with a grenade in a small town in Arizona. Wrecked the house but that was to be expected. As we got to Nevada we saw the weird planes flying over us, some of them dropping bombs on us. It was like they would simply appear over us, drop their payloads, and vanish into the sky, even in the clear of day. They were these manta-ray shaped things with little slides hanging out of the backs of the wings. There were slower planes too. Big VTOL fans that kept them up, usually four of them per ship. They were easy targets for our anti-air guns. We finally got to southern Nevada parched and exhausted. Command called a rest just across the Arizona when we were greeted by SCRIN bombers in from Mexico; pretty sure they were Chinese. That was a scary sight, seeing the bombs drop and having to hide in your tents, and the tanks that guarded you explode like fireworks. There was fighting. I shot at SCRIN soldiers, mostly Mexican and Chinese. I saw fear in their eyes and I’m certain they saw fear in my eyes. That’s what makes Kane so terrible. He forces us to be put into this decision. That bastard Kane made good men kill each other for nothing. I don’t know how the bastard faked his death but I do know he relished in inflicting it on others. In a way I’m happy the sumbitch’s gone. Can’t do this shit to anyone else. Nod and SCRIN planes were fighting each other over our position, and our AA guns shot at both of them. General Odierno said that they were both threats and both should be removed from the country. One was a traitor, the other run by the Chinese and Russians. Can’t say I disagreed with his assessment of that situation. I saw gigantic metal men walking out of the Nod encampment. Or that’s what it looked like, gigantic metal men with laser hands and flamethrowers on their shoulders. Those things, “avatars” I think the Nod troops called them, they were fucking terrifying. They stomped on an Abrams without even breaking a sweat. The only thing that would stop them was tank or missile fire at the legs, which would destabilize them enough to send in guys to keep them down. We’d even commandeer some to fight the Commies, from either here or China. It got harsh. Really harsh. Bombers on both sides would pelt us with whatever they wanted to throw at us. Pretty sure Nod used some kind of napalm at one point; had a friend in one of the camps that was just found torched. The rest of the battle? It was the same damn thing. Shooting, advancing, realizing we were outgunned by SCRIN or Nod or whoever the hell it was, and retreating back to the few strongholds we had. And about Kane? What the fuck do I know about Kane? Do you think Kane would go up to me and tell me “hey, Stephen, here’s a bunch of top-secret military plans!?” I don’t fucking think so. All I saw is what everyone else saw. Oh, you fucking know what they saw. Fuck it, here it goes. There was a big explosion on the Nod encampment. I saw on some kind of tower thing some guy stretching his arms out like he was being crucified. I really was too far away to see much of it. How it ended? Seemed like Nod just vanished after that explosion. SCRIN kicked us out. I know a team captured Odierno. Also got Boyle in Pittsburgh. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Excerpt of an interview with Killeen Fauntleroy, an important aid to President Tim Kane who was in Washington during the Battle of Area 51. Kane was an angry idealist of a man, I can certainly say that. I’m originally from Harrisonburg in Virginia and joined the Brotherhood when he ran for governor. He promised change for us. He promised hope. He promised a change from the endless war that Bush seemed to want. I became his aid after meeting him at an event at JMU and kept out of the public eye. He thought I was interesting and I signed up for his campaign. To make a long story short I worked my way up and went with him to the Governor’s Mansion and then to the White House. He was angry at a lot of things. At the Republicans, at insufficiently novel Democrats, at Congress, at Bush, at al-Qaeda, and at many other things. I listened to many a rant. He was especially damning towards GDI. He thought they were traitors and should be arrested for treason. He cursed the Constitution. What he would go on and on about was this vaguely defined idea of “ascension,” something that he would never give straight answers to questions regarding it. He believed that America was too decadent, too conservative, and too weak, among many other often contradictory things. With the 2010 midterm elections he went on about how the country needed to speed up moving towards ascension. He begun to keep me out of meetings with his staff a lot more; the guards always said it was something highly classified being discussed. One time after one of his states of the union he talked with me in the halls of the capitol building as we were returning to the White House. He said that “the time for ascension is coming soon.” I assumed it meant his presidential run for 2012. “We’ve been ascending a while now,” I replied. “You’ve lifted us up from the Bush administration, certainly.” He looked me coldly in the eyes. “You don’t understand,” he snarled. “So few people understand. We can leave this wreck of a political culture and get to somewhere greater. We could fulfill the Brotherhood’s purpose!” I don’t know what that meant and he refused to go into detail. I did hear the word “ascension” several times in meetings with Party officials. They would all shush when I was around. He left completely unexpectedly. I wasn’t informed that he was going to Nevada. I only hoped that he wouldn’t be shot down by GDI or SCRIN or whatever else would. The explosion? The man stretching his arms out? That might have been Kane, might not have. The light suggested it. I always thought those militia thugs were the real zealots of the Brotherhood. Was I a zealot? A follower, yes, but I wouldn’t say a zealot. The ones who would go out into the street were the ones who were zealots. I was a believer. Somebody who wanted the best for the Brotherhood and I thought that Nod was the answer. Now? I don’t know. I really am hesitant about SCRIN running the country. At least GDI is American, you know? China and Russia and the EU I’m worried about. I’m not sure what kind of mess they’re getting into. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Excerpt from the Washington Post, December 2013 NOD INSURGENTS STILL ACTIVE IN CALIFORNIASACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA – The California State government, under supervision by the occupational force of the United Nations Special Commission on Reclamation and Integration of Nations (SCRIN), has announced that they will deploy the California National Guard to combat Brotherhood of Nod insurgents throughout the state. This action, supported by interim governor Gavin Newsom, appointed by the SCRIN occupational forces, is a sign that the formerly rabidly pro-Brotherhood state taking a firm stance against the extremists towards whom the state formerly turned a blind eye. The fall of the Brotherhood nationwide and the disappearance of President Kane and many senior members of the administration and of the Brotherhood’s political organization has left their followers in disarray; SCRIN has been eager to cleanse the country of what they deem a dire threat against them. Los Angeles County is the major hotbed of extremism in California; the entire city was a bastion of Brotherhood support. National Guard tanks have rolled into the city of Los Angeles with the intent of restoring order; one Brotherhood position in a gasoline station has already been taken out by an air strike. Sources close to the commanders of the operation have said that the pacification of Los Angeles will be done by June of next year. Other cities in California are also controlled by the Brotherhood; a mixture of Californian and SCRIN forces are undertaking operations in these. In cities such as Compton and Oakland, Brotherhood forces are still dominant but are rapidly falling to SCRIN advances. San Francisco fell to SCRIN forces last month shortly after the battle of Area 51 and the disappearance of Kane; Sacramento, Fresno, and Bakersfield willingly surrendered to SCRIN after the capture of San Francisco. More conservative areas, such as Orange County, surrendered after the destruction of GDI holdings in Texas (the fall of Waco led to a nationwide surrender of GDI forces). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Excerpt from the Oakland Tribune, April 2014 ODIERNO, BOYLE, OBAMA TO BE TRIED IN HAGUEGENEVA, SWITZERLAND – United Nations prosecutors have announced that Raymond Odierno, military leader of the Guarding Democracy Initiative (GDI), Redmond Boyle, GDI’s main corporate backer, and Barack Obama, Vice President of the United States under the Kane Administration, will be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, the Netherlands. Both GDI and the Brotherhood are guilty of heinous crimes during the Second American Civil War, which include various civilian massacres, the denial of vital resources to civilian populations in enemy areas (such as the damming of the Colorado River by both sides in an attempt to strangle the West out of its water supply), terror campaigns and bombings (such as the Brotherhood’s bombing campaigns over metropolitan Dallas), and in the Brotherhood’s case the nuclear destruction of Philadelphia and the murder of Farouk Hassan, Kane’s principle challenger from the Democratic Party in the aborted 2012 elections. Boyle was captured by an elite SCRIN commando raid in Pittsburgh, bringing him into custody in a specially designed compound in Canada. Odierno was captured after the defeat of GDI at the Battle of Area 51. A large SCRIN invasion into Washington, D.C. facilitated by the acquisition of the interstate secured Vice President Obama a day after the Battle of Area 51. All were subsequently taken into military custody and later to secure sites in Iceland, where they will wait until they are to stand trial. Comments have been few from the organizations from which these leaders came; organized Brotherhood forces have mostly stood down after the surrender of Washington, while the end of the Battle of Waco led to the capitulation of GDI. Resistance movements, loyal to either side, have been active throughout the country; SCRIN is trying to stamp them out. Comments were allowed to be taken from each leader. Odierno maintained that his strategies were permissible under the laws of war as supported by the United Nations. Boyle was vitriolic against the UN, maintaining that they were seeking to put an end to most civil liberties in the world. Obama said that he was “given the vice presidency as a form of political wrangling between establishment and Brotherhood sections of the Democratic Party seeking to gain the White House” and that he was not involved in the actual conduct of the war. “I was only a figurehead to maintain the pretense of democracy,” said Obama. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Excerpt from a speech of General Alexander Lentsov, leader of SCRIN forces in the Pacific Northwest, May 2014. The end of this terrible war has come to pass, but the peace will not come easy. The United States will, unfortunately, have to allow the international community to maintain a significant military presence within its borders to contain threats of extremism that may threaten to harm the current international state of affairs. The United States is clearly a breeding ground for the likes of the Guarding Democracy Initiative and the Brotherhood of Nod, both of which are murderous and prone to the abuse of human rights enshrined by international law. In the last decade we saw the United States government intervene unjustly in Iraq and in Afghanistan and then the military occupation of Atlanta and the nuclear destruction of Philadelphia. This country’s politics are a threat to the international community at large and thusly it must be reined in to prevent a new war of the scale of the one that is now at an end. The Special Commission on the Reclamation and Integration of Nations will continue its military deployments elsewhere. Currently, our fighting forces, all international in composition, are in Haiti, Iraq, and Ukraine securing the rights of those who have been oppressed by either their fellow human or by the tyranny of Mother Nature. SCRIN is now thenceforth committed to removing the regimes that threaten world peace and stability. All will be integrated into one world. For that is what we are. That is what we need to be. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Transcript of a video recording of the final moments of the gathered Brotherhood in Area 51, recovered from the detonation site. [Planes can be heard above, as can anti-aircraft fire. There is gunfire and artillery in the distance. Kane is on a massive tower speaking to throngs of loyal members of the Brotherhood.] Kane: Peace is upon us. A gift to every man, woman, and child from the Brotherhood of Nod. Victory not just for ourselves, but for our species. Ascension draws near, brothers and sisters. One vision of ascension, one future of fraternity and peace will dawn upon us. The end is the beginning. Our last stand here is the beginning of the creation of something greater. For now, we truly ascend. We escape the surly bounds of this Earth and restore to ourselves dignity. Hope. Liberty. The presidency was a tool, a tool that was used with great benefit for us. The government of the United States’ resources are now ours to go forth into the future, into a void that we will conquer. Peace through power. [There is a flash of white light. Kane outstretches his arms. The crowd cheers. Two minutes later the camera, perched upon some kind of pole, is blown away into a dust storm. There are remnants of a mushroom cloud in the distance. There is an hour of filming the landscape until the camera is picked up by SCRIN investigators.]
