You mean all of Japan ore what the Americans where planning to do if Japan did not surrender as what they did in OTL.

You mean all of Japan ore what the Americans where planning to do if Japan did not surrender as what they did in OTL.

What I mean is that either the Hiroshima or Nagasaki bombing obliterates Japan in nationwide nuclear hellfire. That would've made the US in all likelihood look way worse than their Axis enemies.

Good point. That makes it even more of a mass death scenario than if an atomic bomb "merely" managed to annihilate the entire Japanese population.

In either case, of course, it'd be all but unacceptable to make into its own thread.

  Well I do remember reading once that in the run up to the Trinity Test some of the scientists were concerned that that would trigger some chain reaction setting the entire planets atmosphere on fire.  Fortunately that never happened.

Oh yeah, I once heard/read/watched something about that a while ago myself. An ASB TL where the Trinity Test does indeed set the global atmosphere ablaze would be an omnicidal mass death scenario.

I suppose so. For what reason(s) aliens as advanced as the kind I brought up would bother with a non-space capable species such as ours, I can't tell you.

Maybe they'd be appalled at us for not attaining world peace and would threaten to destroy us all unless we did so by whatever deadline?
