'1950s Authorities Interrogate A 21st Century Person'. There was actually a much more diplomatic and much less overtly grilling version of this in a Changing the Times story entitled '1954'. The protagonist was also a computer expert, and seemed to know a great deal about other topics the downtimer officials asked him about (for a civilian, anyway). Reminds me of The Foresight War by Anthony G. Williams where 1934 downtimers interview a uptimer who comes to the UK and changes everything.
Good story although I think the central character made a wrong move insisting that France still be allowed to fall.
On the main issue it would probably depend on who/which culture was doing the 'interrogating/interviewing and also when and where the time traveller appeared. Somewhere sensitive such as an important military or scientific centre and even a modern civilised country could give them a rough time as this mistrust what their up to, especially when they come up with this 'crap' about being from the future.  Or if it was somewhere like the Soviet Union or China in that period I suspect they wouldn't last long.  |

In that case, it's likely good that the gold standard has long been abandoned by nations around the world. On the other hand, gold is now far cheaper and more easily replenished for the electronics industry, for example. And even if it's super inexpensive, it still has its decorative purposes due to its physical appearance not being diminished. |

Or, perhaps, recordings of the guy in which he was much more genuine and upfront than his public image may have implied. That may not be as surprising to us 21st Century people, but I bet it'd be less easily deduced by the Average mid-20th Century Joe:

If they have the healing effects of the legendary fleece then I hope a few governments get hold of examples to maintain breeding stocks before they go extinct!
On the plus side it will solve a lot of health problems if/when they become generally available at medical centres. Although established drug companies and private medical groups aren't going to be happy about that.

What about if they are super extreme rare and only can live in Greece, the country will have its own super version of the Panda. |
