Fascinating and at times enlightening op-ed, though one that seemed to inject commentary that didn't belong there in at certain places. However, I still saw nothing said about chimps actually understanding us humans word for word.

With all due respect, I don't know why ASB can't just plain boost animals' intelligence so that they understand us humans as we are.

'First Humans React to 21st Century Life'. They would think the humans of the 21st Century are gods, i doubt they can understand what for us is normal but for them is something like magic and unreal.

I wonder how they'd react to other ancient civilizations that are far into the future by their standards, i.e. the Ancient Egyptians or Romans. And as far as them looking at we 21st Century humans as gods, we'd probably react in much the same way to a society that's, say, ten thousand years more advanced then ours. Also, 'WI Money Actually Did Grow On Trees?' Granted, that may have been literally true in the case of certain peoples throughout history who used seeds, fruits, etcétera as currency. But I'm referring to dollar bills, yen, and the like for the purposes of this scenario. For one thing, inflation would sure as hell skyrocket.

That could make money worthless as we do not know what real money that is printed by the banks looks like compare to money that grows on trees.

Possibly also governments forcing a faster drive to a cashless society. Or simply changing the banknotes used to different designs, unless the trees then copy the modified designs. Plus of course this means that trees are somehow producing leaves - I would guess they are - that are identical in size, shape and at least feel to each other and to the currencies in service. Which could be interesting and probably not healthy for the trees given how many notes are now plastic.

Upon realizing what's happening to it, businesses should also refuse to accept cash more and more often than before. There'd be initial chaos, no doubt, but at least we'd still retain electronic means of storing and transferring money. God knows that all Hell would break loose if we were deprived of that in this scenario, too.

Well, people might see more merit to cryptocurrency since the amount in circulation is capped by virtue of its very programming. Certainly, its proponents will swoop in to promote it to a people whose cash's value has plummeted to the point of worthlessness.
