I wonder how the rest of the world would react to a Third Reich that suddenly goes from top-down and leader-directed, to a bastion of freedom that outdoes America in terms of civil liberties. Adolf Hitler & Company make a total U-turn to become, well, the opposite of their OTL selves ITTL would be an interesting change.

Well, as I've said before, good that I put it here rather than anywhere else on the forum. Another scenario would be 'Aquatic And Marine Life Switch Habitats--Without Health Problems', though the disparity in available space between freshwater and salt water ecosystems would quite likely become a major issue.

'Communist Blue States And Fascist Red States'. This would sure as hell end in cataclysm, but is fortunately ASB since neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are quite that extreme.

Or at the absolute best, a Cold War between what will be at least two distinct blocs that stand for communism and fascism respectively.

Would be fun to see it happen in 1940, because at that time the Nazis and Soviets where still at peace.

It may be possible that the fascist Republican states align with the Axis Powers, while the communist Democratic ones join the USSR (though I'm unsure about the other W/Allies). In that case, World War Two has just gotten way crazier and more divided than it was IOTL.

From a distance possible. Definitely wouldn't fancy living in such a world, since it would leave a very isolated Britain as the only major power supporter of democracy after the fall of France.
Not to mention the chaos probably in the former US once Hitler sends the army on its tourist visit to his eastern ally!

Agreed. Honestly, I'm unsure that the British Empire can remain the leading light of capitalism and civil liberties ITTL. The US being unable to provide nearly the Lend-Lease Aid--if at all, which is unlikely--certainly worsens the situation, and the imminent possibility of a civil war within a divided America would only add to the global turmoil of the '40s.

Agreed. I think the best option, and its a pretty thin hope I fear, would be to hunker down and hope to last out until the assorted extreme groups largely destroy each other.

I don’t know that we have much hope there. Additionally, Canada is potentially endangered by the conflict raging Down South, so what measures might the greater Empire take to mitigate that gigantic national security threat?
