Agreed. At this point, I'm also hoping that @lordroel gives us the green light to start a separate thread with this premise. To address the in-scenario points you make, maybe US nukes only become operable IFF a foreign power is prepared to launch their own nuclear strike on them? That way the civil war lasts without going topsy-turvy due to Russia, China or some other player bombing the hell out of them for whatever reason. Being noncitizens, foreigners would remain as they were before the mass-brainwashing takes place, as would American expatriates and government personnel who are overseas at this time. And I'm not sure what Canada would do to get their share of the clusterfuck under control. The fact that they have a border with the former United States is no doubt perilous, and the oncoming refugee crisis would make the one in present-day Europe look almost tame by comparison. I agrea and you can start a separate thread for this discussion if you like. Much appreciated, Lordroel. Good God, would shit go down at the turn of the millennium.

What if People can no longer sit and only stand.
A lot of people probably end up dying or getting used to doing a lot of activities lying down. Its going to screw over virtually all forms of transport along with a lot of the military as virtually all such vehicles use seating for passengers and pilots/drivers. Which is likely to cause massive shortages as trade, both internal and international collapses. This might end up as a mass death scenario I fear - especially since how much of mechanised agriculture uses seated vehicles for gathering and transporting crops. I know you weren't thinking of any results that serious but its amazing how what might seem a minor change can have drastic impacts.

Seems i violated my own Rules and Guidelines of ASB concerning a mass death scenario.

Seems i violated my own Rules and Guidelines of ASB concerning a mass death scenario. That raises a question on my part: is it a problem to share mass-death ideas in the Frivolous ASB thread and there alone?

That raises a question on my part: is it a problem to share mass-death ideas in the Frivolous ASB thread and there alone? I think we can make a exception in this thread on the guarantee that we limit and not spam them and that we take care on what mass-death ideas who pick.

I can understand that spamming the thread with a wave of mass-death suggestions could get annoying as well as space-wasting pretty quickly.

'Once Inaugurated, Presidents Become Thirty-Five Years Old Forever'. Lucky for the 2 term limit then. Probably, otherwise they could run again and again and again to the point where they make FDR look like an early quitter with his, what, four terms in office. And in addition to gaining eternal youth upon inauguration, the US President would also be an anomaly amongst world leaders. So people would explore the conondrum of why the POTUS is reverted to their mid-thirties and doesn't age beyond that, but not other heads of state.

I wonder how a 250+ year old Washington and other early Presidents would view the modern US and how it would view them?

Good question. With them still in the picture, though, it's uncertain whether the US will evolve in a manner similar to that of OTL.

Wait there where no term limits when he became president, long live Emperor Washington. Well, maybe not then. But if he runs repeatedly and wins a ton of times, maybe the public and Congress will step in and decide that maybe Washington's had enough fun in the sun and impose term limits early. Assuming they circumvent his potential refusal to sign their bill on the matter, at least. Even so, however, maybe he'll still decline to serve a bunch of terms due to his aversion to centralized power.

From what I have read about that Washington it seems like he wasn't that interested in running the country.
