Well with more than 111 years of difference between them, Schleswig Holstein is as deiffrent of Germany of 1914 as Canada is from the United States. I see Schleswig Holstein become a independent republic who will try to help Germany and the rest of the world of 1912 avoid what is coming as it is better than what will come after the Great War of OTL.

The thing is that nothing stopping imperial Germany from taking it by force.
That single naval infantry battalion can do jack sh... about it.
The urge to get their hands on modern infrastructure, military equipment and specialists might be too strong for the Kaiser.

Stopping it by force, the 2022 German Bundeswehr in Schleswig Holstein and the Schleswig-Holstein Police (8,700 in size) will be enough if mobilize to halt any 1912 advance.

Are you just referring to those parts of the provinces that stayed in Germany or including those returned to Denmark after WWII? If the latter the Danes might want to get involved as well.
They wouldn't be enough with the local up-time forces to hold out indefinately but I suspect just as Imperial Germany would want to get its hands on advanced technology and probably especially weapons there are plenty of other people who would be determined to stop that. So unless some deal is reached which preserves the areas neutrality you probably get WWII WWI kicking off ~30 months early!

the geographic region of S-H is more interesting than confinement to political boundaries as that means *both* German and Danish S-H come along to the past. Similarly my Silesia ISOT thread was about "geographic" Silesia so not just 1990 Poland but 1990 Germany and Czechoslovakia, which post WWII kept little bits of Silesia as a whole, would be affected.

Yes they were difficult to find - the old organization of HSK was abandoned during the early 2000's. Recently they organized a new organization - found it on the Bundeswehr home page. Now its called Heimatschutz look here
At times they also have visitors from Danish Home Guard - probably all over Itzehoe and the old Barracks site of the Danish Brigade in Germany 1947-58. There might be some unexpected reinforcements around.
The Training Area of Oldenburg is quite interesting as it is the only one with a firing field over open water in Germany so may have some Bundeswehr Battalion or Brigade fooling around.

2022 S-H combat units in place:
Navy/Marine Marine Special Forces 350 troops, Marine/Sea Battalioon 1100 troops, Navy NCO School - no numbers, enough Subs to sink the High Seas Fleet, mine approaches - Kiel Canal - and to sweep such
Army 4. Coy/1. Jäger Regiment - Light Infantry only some 150 (guess) but real troops and light infantry consider themselves the BEST, 6. Reconnaisance Battalion - Bundeswehr real deal - Fennek Armoured Reconnaisance Vehicles and Airbus UAV - and they have been around the Baltics so know their job 164. Special Engineers Regiment which is training the Home Guard which at the time amounts to 2 Coy's each 150 troops? 5. Coy/ 7. CW-protection Battalion - very specialist but still Army troops 911. EW Battalion - as above though mixed establishment
Luftwaffe NCO School - no numbers,(I don't say they're as good as we were kicking the butt of the Reccesqn. of Guards Hussar Reg. back in 1981 AND it had Air Support!) but hey its an NCO School and those guys and girls will be MOTIVATED, 1. AA Sqn. missiles, 61. AA Group with some really awsome kit - get those guns on trucks.. 51. Immelmann Group with 39 Tornadoes and UAVs - get some kit onto those to complete the recce mission - the Danish units had dual capability
Two munitions depots - back in the day there were HUGE depots in S-H; the Danish still exist a little oversize for Danish needs but used; guess this may be like here - perhaps somebody left a nuke in a dark corner

Gives a good insight of what Schleswig Holstein 2022 has to defend itself with if needed.

The Danes will very much like to provide for the northern part of Slesvig not party to 2022 Schleswig-Holstein as they are almost all Danish speaking and wouldn't mind it at all and it will free the 2022 S-H'ers from some headache. There is Imperial German Army units in this area - Infantry Regiment 84 and 86 Reserve Infantry Regiment 84 and 86 the latter of course not mobilized. All were known as Danish Regiments though officers were German.
