I read in the book ''conquests and cultures'' ; ''The consolidation of vast regions of Africa under a new law and order encouraged large scale immigration of entrepreneurial groups from India & Lebanon, and these Indians & Lebanese created new retail and even international trade networks in east & west Africa respectively'' But what about North Africa? Since Lebanon is an Arabic speaking country wouldn't many have moved there? Did many move there? I mean there's a lot of Levantines in Egypt but Egypt's population is so large that the Levantine minority is un-noticeable. What about Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia or Libya? If there aren't many Lebanese there, why aren't there?

Maybe there was less competition in West Africa.
