How different would the US and the rest of the world be had Nixon been successfully Impeached, sent to prison and died there?
When Impeachment is successful and has resulted in the long suffering and death of a President who would not campaign for it?

Doubt it would happen, he resigned before he could get impeach which i considered a semi-impeachment and was not arrested after he became a citizen again, so i do not see it happen if he gets impeach.

The majority of the Americans didn't want him in jail. (Which had to do with a misunderstanding - most ppl thought that "impeach" implied "sending him to prison". That's why he wasn't impeached.)

Nixon being put on trial would have torn the USA apart. President Ford knew this, even if some Democratic Party congresspeople did not.

President Gerald ford took great courage in pardoning Richard Nixon because for a president to be set inside prison over a very stupid breaking perhaps minimized the very worst. That was a time when America still was toe to toe with the soviet union, and more demoralization and destabilization wasn't what America needed
