When we contemplate milestones or turning points in our history, looking to the past is usually the default. After all, what happened before has already been spoken for and passed down for the benefit of later generations, whereas the future is still in motion and can't be known until we experience it ourselves.
But given recent festivities, I thought it'd be fun to put on our thinking caps and make an educated guess about what kinds of future events will be of most note for future generations — namely, those noteworthy enough to receive their own holidays. Quite frankly, if there's anything history teaches, it's that every generation has its own defining moments that reverberate far into the future and deserve a place right alongside the heroes, villains, and great paradigm shifts of yesteryear.
Indeed, while it may be fictional, I imagine a future in which space exploration takes off would have something akin to Frontier Day, in commemoration of mankind taking its first strides into the Great Beyond. No shortage of other worthy occasions, though, so with that all out of the way, let us proceed!
Thank you in advance, Zyobot

Perhaps there will be a Columbus Day associated with his discovery and then a separate native American Day. when the war is over in Ukraine If the Ukrainians win the war I could see a holiday of commemorating a great Ukrainian victory

Future History - 1 year rule
Please note that the Future History board is for Future History threads that means that you do NOT ask what will happen in the next 12 months because those will be considered Politics and Current Affairs. and that is where they are supposed to go.

Last new holiday in the US was MLK day, wasn't it? In Germany, it was the reunification day, celebrated on October 3rd.

Holiday depends on Historical, religious events of history, also imply future evens.
Like new religion who dictate new Holidays based on there believe, like birthdate of there Guru other will imply by historical events, like War Victory, civil-war, Revolution or other system changes.
Since future events hard to predict, it only Speculation what kind future Holiday will be...
