Well that would add another useful ship and a contact point with the DEI. Welcome aboard.

Well she would be able to link up with HNLMS Java who was in Singapore at that time, do not know if she will stay with the Queen Elizabeth Carrier Strike Group ore will head towards Java to link up with the rest of the Netherlands East Indies Naval Forces, i think she would be a very good command & control ship for Admiral Doorman.

Good point the captain will probably feel obliged to link up with the downtime Dutch. Which does mean the crew can pass on a lot of information that might help but they will be more vulnerable on their own as would the task force without them.

True but the De Zeven Provinciën-class frigate are also designed to accommodate command staff, thus i think Admiral doorman can use the frigate better than the current cruiser, Java ore De Ruyter wich he uses as a flag ship.

I think a lot would depend on the compatibility of the comms available. No problems with De Zeven Provinciën-class and the Queen Liz CSG. It is the comms between De Zeven Provinciën-class and the 1940s ships I have my doubts. If I remember correct, and I could be wrong, the multi national ABDA units had major C3I problems and all those ships were contemporaries.

That is something i did not know, it could be a problem for uptimers and downtimers.

I think part of it was differences in doctrine and training and with the Dutch of course in language but different equipment would definitely be an issue. This would be greatly compounded by differences between 1941 and 2020 equipment.
That was why I said in one of my 1st comments the importance of how long it takes for the two forces [QEII and Force Z] to actually be able to communicate between each other and you might end up with some officers being exchanged by boat. Of course then, being the military there might be an issue of seniority but hopefully Philips would accept that the up-time commander knows a lot he doesn't so should at least be listened too, once he and his staff accept their friends from the future.

I think being saved from being bombed by 80 Japanese bombers will go a long way in trusting each other.

The question would be could they come to that agreement before the attack. Once the QEII realises where [and more importantly when] it is a/c will be sent aloft in as much numbers as can be managed but it could take a bit of time to do this. Phillips and Force Z were already heading south but not sure whether this was before or after the fatal diversion to Kuantan although checking en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinking_of_Prince_of_Wales_and_Repulse#Return_to_Singapore that appears to have occurred earlier so the force is definitely still going to be in range of enemy a/c.
